Mom & Son Eat the World Part 2 - Updated 1/20 Breakfast at POP & Cost Summary

Glad to hear that Chefs was good. The reviews on here as of late had made me nervous about my ADR for next month! I had a wonderful meal there when I was about twelve or so that I will never forget and going back this time was a must. Also nice to see pics of Biergarten, as that is our very first ADR on our trip. Can't wait! Thanks for sharing.

Glad to see Remy was still at Chefs... I wonder if he'll stay a while.

That was pretty cool that the Germans were celebrating the German-time new year! I never would have thought they'd do that, but it seems to make sense!

Another great update! Now, what to do about Chef de France, :lmao:? I keep putting it back on the list, then dropping it again - a) because of bad reviews, b) we easily can get real French food while visiting Mickey in France! ;)
Decisions, decisions!!!:confused3

We loved our lunch at Chefs too and Remy is too cute. DH had the cheese plate and the crepe and has insisted we go back in August even though we have other places still to try!;)

Chefs looked great I keep puting chefs back on my list then i hear a not so good review and take it off now I will for sure keep Chefs on my list! i think i will have to order that "Salade au bleu - romaine hearts, blue cheese dressing, bacon, walnuts, croutons" I looks so good

I was the same way but really wanted to see Remy! Very glad I made the reservation. Hopefully some of the bad reviews will cease for a bit!

It was really nice. They passed out the hats they were giving out in EPCOT to everyone in the restaurant and we all toasted the native Germans. Many were crying. It was a nice moment. I wonder if they did that in any of the other restaurants?

As much as I enjoyed our meal, I would say for you to leave it off and try something else. Mostly because of the 50/50 reviews lately! Heck, I'd rather eat with Mickey in Paris!

Yeah, its a fav of DH's as well. Pretty sure we'll go back whenever we get back to WDW. Probably for the lunch menu next time!

I am finally caught up with both your Part 1 and now Part 2 food trip reports and look forward to your next posting. I do have a question for.... Do you know what is in the Welsh Dragon??? It looks really good and may have to try one depending on the ingredients :drinking1. Thank you

Biergarten looks like a lot of fun! Do you think there are enough dishes there for a vegetarian to leave feeling full?

I just checked on Allears - Welsh Dragon: Peach schnapps, Melon liqueur, créme de Menthe, Orange Juice, and Pineapple Juice.

I have to say, you can't taste creme de Menthe at all. I am surprised to see that it is even in there!

I am sorry to say that I didn't look. I know there is a salad station that I don't really pay any attention to. I go there mostly for the spaetzle and schnitzel. They do have red cabbage and some other veggies but I don't know if they are prepared completely vegetarian.

Our last full day was New Year’s Day. I had changed ADRs on this day a couple of times before the trip. We had planned breakfast at Crystal Palace but I ended up canceling it. Lunch was to just be appetizers at T-Rex. Since we weren’t going to be using our credits at CP, it just didn’t make sense to pay out of pocket for lunch. So we went to Wolfgang Puck Express.

I had the Chinois (Shin-wah) Chicken - roasted all natural chicken breast, fresh Asian vegetables and cripsy wontons, dressed with Honey Mustard

img_0933.jpg

DS had Rigatoni with Chicken Alfredo - fresh artisan rigatoni tossed in Alfredo sauce and sliced all-natural roasted chicken breast, topped with fresh Grana Padano parmesan which came with a Ceasar salad

img_0932.jpg

DH had Italian Sausage and Roasted Red Pepper - with spinach and garlic-basil pesto sauce fresh thyme and chili flakes

img_0934.jpg

And we paid OOP for a side of the Baked Four Cheese Macaroni - mozzarella, fontina, cheddar and Gorgonzola cheeses with fresh artisan elbow macaroni, baked until bubbly and golden brown

img_0935.jpg

For dessert, DS got the crème brule. We also picked up a cookie and brownie to take with us on the train the next day.

img_0931.jpg

Lunch would have totaled $60.65. The mac & cheese side was $3.95.

We really loved our lunch here. Although we satnext to an older couple and one guy gave me a really hard time about taking pictures of our food! Obviously not a Diser! Of course it doesn't matter with the DxDDP, but this is really a great CS option on the regular dining plan.

After walking around a very rainy DTD for a while, we stopped in at Ghirardelli. DS had a Dark Chocolate and Mint with Mint Chocolate Chip Ice cream shake and I had a Sea Salt Caramel Hot Cocoa - whipped cream and a milk&caramel square

img_0939.jpg

Both were delicious! Total with a bottle of water (paid OOP) was $14.48,

Our last night’s dinner was one I was really looking forward to - Citricos.

We started out the their delicious bread with sea salted butter.

img_0952.jpg

DH and I used our last two wine credits on a really good Barolo wine

img_0953.jpg

DS started with the Arancini Crispy Risotto - Italian Sausage, Quattro Formaggi, and White Truffle Aioli

img_0954.jpg

DH had the Cheese Course Trio - Lemon ricotta from Central Florida, Kasseri from Greece, , and Forme D'Ambert from Auvergne, France

img_0956.jpg

I had Goat Cheese Truffle Salad - Cracked Pepper, and Sesame and Tomato "Truffles" with Arugula, Frisee, Nueske Applewood Smoked Bacon, and Baby Beets
img_0955.jpg

All were absolutely delicious, especially the Arancini.

For entrees, the waiter talked DH into the Braised Veal Shank - Carrot-Potato Puree, Roasted Vegetables, and Toasted Citrus Gremoloda.

img_0959.jpg

This surprised me a bit because it isn’t something DH would usually order. But he loved it. I don’t really eat veal but I did have a bite and it was very good. DS loved it as well.

DS had Roasted Chicken Breast - Tanglewood Farms Chicken with pappardelle pasta, wine-braised artichokes, grape tomatoes, basil pesto and savory chardonnay broth.

img_0957.jpg

He absolutely loved this. Would have licked the plate clean if allowed!

I had the Filet Sicilian - Oak-grilled Filet of Beef with sweet vidalia onions, peppadew and banana peppers, quattro formaggic crushed potatoes and veal glace de viande

img_0958.jpg

I also really enjoyed this. Steak was perfectly cooked (medium) without being dry. The banana peppers really added a nice kick. Very good.

As stuffed as we were, being our last meal, we had to get dessert. I love the pressed tea pots just like the ones at Jiko

img_0960.jpg

I had Tropical Fruit Creme Brulee

img_0963.jpg

DH had the Warm Chocolate Banana Tart - vanilla ice cream and caramelized bananas

img_0961.jpg

DS had Honey Spice Cake with Caramelized Pears (I don’t see this on the Allears Menu, I looked on the WDW site)

img_0962.jpg

All were really good but none of us were able to finish! Dinner with the wine came to $297.83. I think this was 2nd best only to Artist Point. DS is still partial to Jiko and DH really enjoyed Il Mulino but said this was very, very close.

Your reviews are wonderful, really well done! I'm sad that your trip is coming to an end. Did you have credits left at the end? Would you recommend the deluxe dining plan over the DDP? On our last trip, I really debated it and we went with DDP and paid OOP for a few meals, however, after seeing all the signature meals that your family enjoyed, I'm willing to debate it all over!

We did not have any credits left over. We purposely left 5 snack credits so we could get stuff to eat on the train. No meal credits.

I love the deluxe plan. As a rule, we hate eating counter service and we'd much rather have an appetizer over a dessert so the regular plan just doesn't work for us. And the signature meals are an extra bonus.

Last year DS and I only paid the difference between the regular and the deluxe plan because we went during free dining. This trip we paid full price. We still came out a bit ahead. Obviously going during free dining would be better but it would be hard for me to go without the DxDDP.

Citricos look so good, if we do the DXddp this will beon the list!
WPE i wanted to eat their on my last trip but no one else wanted to so I will put this on my list!

Mmhh ....... another delicious set of reviews! As you well know we LOVE WPE! ;) and you didn't have to convince me. How was the salad? I have always wanted to try that - then stick with the pizza, LOL! How did your DS like the sausage pizza?
I am so thankful for your Citricos review! The Aranzini looks devine and Tom would so love the veal shank. That definitely is on our list for next summer!

I guess we'll just drop Chefs! :lmao: I don't even like the Boulangerie in WS, we have discovered a small REAL Boulangerie near DLRP and their desserts are TO DIE FOR!!!
Guess we need to go there again pretty soon!
Thank you for your wonderful reviews!!! I LOVE them!! :worship:

Aaahhhhhh that lovely Citricos veal shank is my absolute favorite dish anywhere!:worship:

Fantastic again, thank you so much.:worship:

At the moment we have Citricos over Artist Point but there have been some really good reviews on AP recently...going round and round in circles!:confused3

What a tough decision to make, I'm guessing you'll say AP, right?

Definitely try it! We try to eat there every trip and everything has been really good!

:rotfl:

That's funny! I'm not a fan of counter service either.

I never thought of the ability to "upgrade" to DxDDP during free dining--definitely something to consider. Too bad there's no free dining at DL!

Yeah, that was great last year. $32 a day per person for all that food! I wish there was any type of dining plan at DL. What they have seems to have no value.

Thank you! The salad was truly delicious! I had something similar at California Pizza Kitchen so I had to try it. We all really enjoyed the pizza as well.

I can only imagine how good a true French Boulangerie must be!

It was definitely tasty -- or at least the bite I had was. It's not usually my cup of tea.

Fantastic again, thank you so much.:worship:

Yeah, not a tough choice for us. AP all the way around! But Citricos was a very close second for me.
