ok........even I can't stand the suspense So before I get flogged I figure I should provide a quick reveal.


It's closing in on 9:30 when we finally make it back to the villa!! The villa is a disaster area Oh well, no time to clean. Dh and I tell the kids to hurry up and get into their pajamas. We really are pretty low key at home when it comes to bedtime so, at this point, they are quite confused but they cooperate. I run around and prepare the beds. I pick up the days clothes.


And.


Suddenly.


I hear something.





What's that?????





Knock Knock.





Who the heck is THAT???????





I go to open the door.........

and............................................................





LOOK who it is??????????????

OMG He's BAAAAAAAACK!!!!!!!!!

Cute! I bet that was fun for them!

Inside the Safari Theater they have an area of shelves that are just stockpiled with Hasbro games and toys!!!!!!!!! Oh my goodness, it was like a toy store! The kids, of course, are excited and have a hard time choosing but finally they each settle on something they like.

Wow, that's so cool that they got presents!

OK.......so I'm presuming that my fellow DISwisher's expected Mayor Clayton the 6 ft tall rabbit to be at the door. Am I right????? HA!!!!!!! Gotcha!


GKTW offers bedtime tuck-ins to the children every night of the week by Mayor Clayton and his wife/girlfriend/friend (IDK......what exactly IS Miss Bunny to Mayor Clayton????). I had noticed it in the orientation book and hoped to request it at some point later in the week. We've had them with Daffy Duck and Tweety at Six Flags Great Escape last winter and the kids got the biggest kick out of it (truth be told......me too). After the parade, however, Entertainment Mary asked me if we had a tuck-in scheduled for that night. When I told her 'no' she asked if we would like one..............................with MURPHY!!!!! Well, heck, don't have to ask me twice!!!!!!!

So that's why the amazing race to get back to the villa by 9:30, our scheduled tuck-in time. And that Murphy, well he is right on schedule. The kids, honestly, don't seem to know what to think. It was so funny because throughout the entirety of Murphy's visit (about 20 minutes total!!) they don't actually 'say' much of anything. They laugh, they giggle, they smile, their eyes dance with glee......................but they don't 'say' much. I wonder if they don't actually 'talk' to Murphy because Murphy doesn't 'talk' to them. He dances and hugs and throws kisses and gestures broadly to make himself clear but, for obvious reasons, he never actually talks. The interaction, still, is just precious and something we (especially Matty) will certainly remember forever.



First, in the living area, where Murphy ooooohs and aaaahs over the Xmas tree, examines all the children's stuffed animals and, of course, poses for some pictures..........

Then Murphy gestures that he is tired and it is tiime for bed. Matty leads him into the bedroom he is sharing with Nicholas. He jumps on Matty's bed......................

and hits his head on the windowsill........

a little bit of silliness is had by all.........

and then a PILLOW FIGHT.........

a tuck-in..................

and a kiss...................

When he makes his way into the bedroom where Olivia and Brennan afe to sleep he gets into bed and starts to snore!!!!!!

Here's a bit of video for any hard core Matty/Murphy fans out there (maroo?????????). Murphy in action is worth at least a 30second peek. The first one is kind of long (4 minutes 47 seconds) but includes the time spent in Matty and Nick's bedroom....................Matty's laughter is infectious in parts. The second one is just.........well........sweet. Shows how super special Murphy is. It's short, only about a minute. But truly sweet (kinda funny too)

What an end to a very long and magical day huh?????? We couldn't possibly have asked for more.

And it's Matty's Birthday too (how perfect)!!!!

We are on our way out to the Boston Children's Hospital to spread alittle hope and cheer to the families on the heart ward. We started this tradition last year for Matty's birthday. I'll share more later tonight.

Oh my goodness, I am just speechless. I just stumbled upon your PTR and now your TR tonight, and I've been reading and crying for the last hour or so. I could not believe my eyes when I read your first posts...
My brother and SIL had a stillborn baby girl with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. They too found out at their 20 week ultrasound (their first child/pregnancy), this was in August 2006. She, too, had in-utero surgery. They were offered the choice of Boston Children's or right here at the Cleveland Clinic. Though the Clinic had only done a few, they really wanted to be here. So they chose that. I believe she was the 3rd here in Cleveland and the 30th ever to have it? I don't know if those are exactly right, but they seem to be and fit with the timeframe from when you had your surgery. She had the surgery at 21 1/2 weeks and I believe that was the earliest ever done. Anyways, the surgery seemed to be a "success" so to speak-as you have explained, we all knew what lay ahead. We were thrilled!! The ultrasound the next day showed better flow than even all those wonderful docs were expecting.
Sadly, that night, when they did the doppler before SIL went to sleep for the night, there was no heartbeat. Our dear Natalia Faith was lost. Our phone rang at midnight and it was just so devastating. They decided to induce labor in the AM and left the epidural in place. They warned it would be a slow labor - they couldn't use a lot of pitocin or do a C-section because there were multiple punctures in her uterus. They attempted the surgery without opening up SIL first, unsuccessfully, then had to open her up. They didn't want to risk damaging her uterus for future pregnancies (she was only 27 at the time). Well, they were right. 3 long days of labor, not painful physically, but oh my goodness what they went through. Words cannot even say. Natalia Faith was delivered on Sept. 12, 2006. The hospital had a photographer come in and they got some wonderful family photos. She was laid to rest a few days later in a local cemetery and is always in our hearts. We have a pink rose on the table at every family meal/holiday to remember her. Natalia now has a sister, Gianna Faith, who is 2 and perfectly healthy. Visits her sister often.
The strangest part of all this - when Natalia was delivered, she had a huge knot in her umblical cord. They think that really caused her death. They really think the surgery was a "success", however the movement they needed to do may have either caused or worsened the knot. We'll never know. My DB and DSIL had agreed to be in a study for all this and for results to be published, but due to the odd circumstances that followed, their case is not in the journals, etc. They did not want an autopsy and that was the only way to know for sure.

I'm sorry to be so long and take over your thread. I just wanted to let you know how much Matty's story has touched me. I particularly loved seeing the photos of him through the years, the tears were flowing freely. I am so grateful for the wonderful doctors and scientists that help miracles happen!!

I am so thrilled to hear of his trip and will continue reading, it sounds just so wonderful so far!!!!

A very Happy Birthday and Happy New Year, Matty!!! You and your family have been in my prayers for a long time before I ever knew your name or your specific story. I am so glad to have names and faces to add to my prayers!!
