A month ago, we had no plans to go back H*O*ME to WDW. In fact, I had let my annual pass expire and we had just taken our first trip to Disneyland in November. The holidays were a busy time and I had just finished my latest semester of grad school.

Mid-December, Mom was playing around on the internet during her lunch break and ran across the special offers online. She apparently started running some numbers and send emails out to the family consisting of different scenarios and costs. The next day, the room was booked!

INTRODUCTION

Our first family vacation took place in Summer 1999. We "went all out" and stayed onsite at All-Star Movies as we thought this was our once in a lifetime trip. Within the 24 hours, I heard my parents whisper to each other, "We have to come back." Now almost 17 years later, we have been at least once almost every year since.

:goofy:DAD (TIM):goofy:

Many people see him as this big, gruff Harley Davidson rider and are always surprised to learn of his love for Disney. Goofy is his favorite character and always acts like him when he gets to visit his happy place.

Mom is a true Disney addict. In addition to family trips, her and I have taken many the Mother/Daughter trip to the World. Whether its for two days or seven, like me, she can easily justify another visit to the Mouse!

:hmghost:ME (LAUREN-27):hmghost:

I fell in love with Disney way before my first trip to the parks. Heck, I was reciting "The Little Mermaid" at 18 months. After working as a Cast Member, that love only grew. Whether it's for a short weekend or a half marathon, you don't have to twist my arm too hard before I agree to go again.

:figment:BROTHER (TYLER-23):figment:

He definitely didn't get bit by the Disney bug like the rest of us. Since graduating high school, he has only been on a Disney vacation with us twice. We were very surprised when he accepted the invitation when extended. It will be nice to have all four of us in the parks again!

ACCOMMODATIONS:

In Mom's initial email, she had the following options listed:

POP Century
Port Orleans Riverside
Port Orleans French Quarter

Not to be snobby, but I try to avoid Value resorts if I can. I usually stay at POP when it's just me and I need to save money. I have found the bus crowds to be crazy ridiculous with values and would rather enjoy a more mature theme throughout my stay.

Once POP was ousted, we were left with the Port Orleans resorts. Mom and I had stayed in a Royal Room at POR a couple of years back and enjoyed the feel of the place. I have never stayed at French Quarter and my goal is to stay at every resort on property. At this point, it was a no brainer. Of course, it helps that my parents took a "no kids" trip a couple of years ago fell in love with it.

So it was decided!
Port Orleans French Quarter (Room Discount) - March 5-8, 2016

How fun! I think a 'spur of the moment' trip would be a fun whirlwind to plan! And you'd be done planning and then it would be time to go - instead of waiting forever and ever for the trip to arrive (like me, ha!) Following along!

TICKETS AND ITINERARY:

As this was meant to be a short trip with just a taste of the parks to tide us over, we opted for 2 day Park Hoppers. We usually never hop. It takes too much time to get from one place to another. Our usual trip consists of 5 day base tickets where we chose a 5th park for day 5 (9/10 Magic Kingdom). This time, we wanted all 4 parks in the two days so our plan (as of now) looks like this.

Saturday
Arrive at POFQ (I'm driving from NC, everyone else is driving from TN)
Disney Springs
ADR: BOATHOUSE

Sunday
Disney's Hollywood Studios (EMH)
FP+: Toy Story Midway Mania
Star Tours
Tower of Terror
EPCOT
Back to DHS for SitS Fireworks
ADR: Mama Melrose

Monday
Animal Kingdom (EMH)
ADR: Yak & Yeti
Magic Kingdom
FP+: Space Mountain
Seven Dwarves Mine Train
Big Thunder Mountain

Tuesday
Depart POFQ

Welcome! Yes, I am used to the spontaneous trip but the rest of the family is not. We booked the room, had Christmas and New Years, then Mom text me in a panic because FP was going to open in a couple of days! Lol. All of the plans in the ITINERARY section were made in the past 4 days. :earseek:
