Day 3 – Monday June 19

I woke early and went for a walk around the Shelter Cove marina while DD slept in. Even at 8:00 it was over 80 degrees. :sunny: Lots of very expensive yachts to drool over on the walk and the family bikers were already out. We had considered renting bikes but in retrospect glad we didn’t. It was really too hot for us to enjoy using the bikes to go to the beach house and all over. Lots of families did use bikes and if you’re used to the heat I think it would be a lot of fun.
We had a quick breakfast in the room, loaded up the golf gear and headed out to find Port Royale golf course. (Tip: if you golf, bring a small soft cooler with water and snacks. Not much water available on the courses we played and snack cart doesn’t come by that often.) We used our little cooler everywhere even in the car to pack Propel. We were paired up with a very nice older couple from Atlanta and had a fun time playing with them. Saw an alligator on hole #4 down in a creek bed. Got some great pictures of her and lots of turtles/birds.
We made it back to the resort and took a quick nap before heading to the beach. We now had our beach chairs and umbrella which were great to use. It was fun watching the skimboarders in the surf and the little ones having so much fun in the sand. :umbrella: The beach was packed with people in the afternoons but we liked to come back around 8:00 for one more walk and had the place pretty much to ourselves. It was also easy to load the chairs into the car at the Beach House lot when we were ready to go to the pool to cool off and get drinks. Try the mango smoothies. Yum! :goodvibes
We had dinner that night at the Bonefish restaurant. Very close to the resort and really good food. We again split an appetizer – wicked shrimp and and an asian salmon entrée. This is a chain restaurant we had tried in WDW and really liked.
We got back to the resort and got the movie schedule from a CM at the front desk and headed off to find the cinema 10. It is challenging to find places on this small island. No street lights and there must be a sign covenant to keep them really small. Most locations are not easily seen from the street but are curtained by large trees. We drove past the cinema a few times but made it in time to see “The Lake House”. This was a 9:30 show that had about 15 people (all female) there. All I can say about the show is Keanue should have just stuck with his Matrix movies. :rolleyes2

Yes there are sign restrictions and codes for lighting too. It does make it hard to navigate at night, but makes the island look so nice and noncommercial.

Buildings can not be high rise, colors have to be muted and when you build they send a tree specialist out to evaluate which trees can be removed.

I usually try to locate something new during the day and it saves some time and headache of looking in the dark.

My family also enjoys the Shelter Cove area and the Marina. I feel the view from the resort over that way is very nice. I love the Mediterranean seaside village look of it.

Thanks for sharing, makes me wish I was there. :thumbsup2

Your visit sounds much like the ones my daughter and I enjoy each year! (With the exception of golfing)

We've gotten familiar with where things are so it's no longer a problem, but on our first visits I hated driving at night.

Very nice to read your report as we are packing to go this weekend. Thanks for writing!

What I think is funny is many of his movies are like the matrix.
They are black trench coat wearing hero who goes to another diminsion and fights bad guys.
Johnny Nuemonic, Matrix, reloaded, revolution, Constatine, Scanner Darkly,
He wore a tan trench coat in Bill and Ted and Bill and Ted 2.
Then in Lake House he has a love in another time, and I am willing to bet he wore a trench coat at some point.

Whooooa!
