We leave 2 weeks from today! On July 31st – so I’ll list my preparations, plans and purchases first and then come back and update as we go.
Here we are and some of our purchases (from L to R - my daughter, me, new Disney cane, luggage tags, magic bands and ponchos):

This is a 5 night, 6 day Disney World trip for myself and my daughter who is turning 17 halfway through the trip. After the pandemic, lots of life changes, etc., this is a much-needed and well-deserved trip for her.
She's going to start a Tik Tok channel for it (we have a Dec/Jan trip planned after this) so I got her phone upgraded and got her a Gimbal stabilizer for her videos.
As an FYI, I'm on a scooter due to knee injuries. I love Gold Mobility Scooters for the Disney trips.
This is the first time I'm going to try to ride scary rides. (Even Barnstormer looked terrifying to me lol). But I hated last time her having to ride by herself. I've been working with a personal trainer to try to strengthen my arms/legs so I feel more secure on scary rides.
Okay! Let’s get started…
Shopping and Stuff I Bought:
A new Disney Mickey Mouse cane from an Etsy seller, Minnie ponchos, luggage tags, cooling towels, new iPhone 12 Pros and a stabilizer for hers to do videos and have fun with it, Magic Bands (I got a Disney Mom Minnie Mouse one and she got pink sparkles – I hope they always let us do magic bands), rechargeable fans that the Dis mentioned, new purse, luggage, clothes, etc. My daughter got two new pairs of ears from Etsy – one was a birthday pair and the other is flowers – so cute. Also got tons of Disney gift cards to use from Sams and Target.
I originally was only going to make it a 4 night trip but I ended up adding a night, so here are our plans so far:
July 31st – Flying first class into MCO (I’m overweight and don’t want to squish anyone in a seat next to me). We were originally going to stay at the airport hotel but changed flights so now we go to Yacht Club for one night.
Got a one day park ticket no hopper to Epcot (the rest of my trip has hopper but it was a pain to switch it to a package to add this day). I plan to ride Frozen (for the drop – I know it’s small, but it’ll scare me LOL), Soarin' and Test Track (which both scare me, but I enjoy them) to help me get my nerves up.
We’ll eat at the F&W booths and we have a late dinner at Il Mulino (new to us) that night.
August 1st – Epcot Day Part 2
Breakfast scheduled for Trattoria al Forno (new to us) – then we check out of Yacht Club and into Beach Club (my favorite)!
I had already booked Epcot for this day, but that’s fine – we love it. We’ll ride rides again, shop in all the stores, and eat our way around the world. That France brioche ice cream thing looks amazing.
Since we have 2 days here, we MAY park hop at 2 over to HS or MK since the monorail will be working.
August 2nd – Magic Kingdom Day
This will be my first time taking a bus, and I’m nervous. I formerly paid for Minnie Vans and I’m so sad they’re gone. It was worth it not feeling embarrassed. But c’est la vie. By the way, being overweight on a scooter in itself is embarrassing because I feel like people think it’s just because I’m lazy, but I can’t walk well. I’ve seen too many “make fun of scooter people” videos on YouTube, I guess.
We have lunch reserved at Liberty Tree Tavern (new to us) and dinner at Cinderella’s Royal Table (also new to us).
Lord help me – this is the first majorly scary ride I’ll be riding this trip – Splash Mountain. I plan on first getting my nerve up by going on the following scary (to me) rides first: Barnstormer (don’t laugh lol), Peter Pan (yep, looks high and scares me), Big Thunder Mountain (I did it once but I screamed in terror the entire time), Pirates of the Caribbean (never been but I heard it has a drop), and Seven Dwarves Mine Train (never been but looks terrifying). I’ll end the day with Splash and hope those 3 seconds don’t make me pass out.
August 3rd – Hollywood Studios (and Birthday Day!)
This is my daughter’s favorite park so we planned Mama Melrose (one of her favorites) for lunch and we have Shula’s Steakhouse (never been) for a late dinner.
For rides, you know I’m going to be terrified this day – we have Tower of Terror (having been stuck in an elevator once this one is not going to be easy), and Rock N Roller Coaster. I think I’d be fine if not for that take off, but I’m going to try to get up the nerve. My main fear is not being able to breathe during it because I heard it takes your breath away. But it’s 60 seconds – live life!
I would LOVE to ride Slinky Dog Dash but honestly, that being outside and so high scares me even more than the others. But I might! We’ll see how I’ve done so far. To her, it's a baby ride so she doesn't care either way.
We may park hop this day if we’ve done the rides and all. We could go to MK or Epcot or both.
August 4th – Animal Kingdom
Checking out of Beach Club and having luggage sent to Contemporary because I added an extra day. This will be a blast for her to do three deluxe resorts she’s never done. I’ve been to Beach Club but I’ve never stayed at Yacht Club or Contemporary, though.
Have to take a bus again to Animal Kingdom. I’m excited to ride Dinosaur. Looks scary. We may go back to Contemporary after 2 and then over to MK if we feel like it. She’s not into Pandora/FoP, etc. So we only have a few things to ride here, and walk around, etc.
We have dinner planned at Citricos (one of her favorites), so we’ll take the resort monorail to GF and have dinner, get some bath bombs and then come back.
August 5th – Magic Kingdom and Home Day
We have a late flight, so we’re going to have breakfast at Chef Mickey’s then hit up MK. We get to be there until around 3 PM, then back to turn in the scooter, catch the Tragic Express and go home until late December.
We love foodie, shopping and thrill vacations so we’ll be back to post lots of pics, costs and details! I'm excited about all the new food places we haven't tried yet and for her to get to stay in all 3 resorts that are new to her.
