Mom and Dad's Dream Trip-34 Yrs in Making-Jun08 SOUVIE PICS PG 51 NEXT TRIP!!???!!!!?

Great update! I have the same Mickey/Minnie shirt as you. I wore it today as a mater of fact!

GReat update Jen! Megan is just too cute for words I swear! My kids LOVED carousal of Progress too.. Kona was one of our favorite meals also! It looks kindof dumpy, nothing special but the food is soo yummy!!

Sounds like a magical day all around! Ohh can't wait to hear how THAT TUESDAY effected you all!! hahah...:)

Thanks Annette!! We so loved Kona--what great food! I know you know what I am talking about for Tuesday!! :scared1:

Fabulous update. I have never been on the Carousel of Progress, so that is a must do on our next trip. I'm in the planning stage of our next trip in June 2009. I still need to decide where to stay. So, I enjoy reading your TR so I can make a list of must do's. Keep up the good work!

The Carousel of Progress is just a sweet enjoyable attraction--not 100% up to date, but still a classic in our minds! Do you have a list of possible hotels? I can give you my input if you would like on the ones that I have stayed at!! Enjoy the planning!

thanks!

(work's almost over! :yay: )

I hope you have seen it by now! ;)

Love the update! I love your family's touring style. So go with the flow. That's the best way to tour, because you're just happy to BE THERE! :thumbsup2

Brave you for the 7:10 AM ressies!

We are very much go with the flow with EVERYTHING! With Tommy---our FP Master---touring WDW is a breeze! We are very JUST happy to be at WDW--our favorite place to be! Stay tuned to hear all about the ressies!

Great update! I have the same Mickey/Minnie shirt as you. I wore it today as a mater of fact!

Thanks for the compliment, and great taste on shirts!!! I ironically had mine on just the other day!!

Jen,

Great update!!! Made me miss being at the Magic Kingdom so much! Kona was delicious, wasn't it? I am still disappointed that Pirates was closed while we were there :(.

Can't wait to hear about your Epcot day! popcorn::

Jen, I would love some of your advice on hotels. I'm so confused at this point. It seems I change my mind every week. We've stayed at POFQ, POR, and ASSP. We are a family of five, DD17, DS15, and DD9. My son is 6'4 and that makes it hard for trundle beds and day beds. I don't want to spend a million dollars on a hotel. Here are the hotels I've been contemplating...ASMU family suites, POR, CR, BC, and WL. I just don't know. :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Just found your report and loving it. Megan was perfect as Tinkerbell, I loved her dance in the video. She has a great imagination, which is a great gift.

Waiting for the Magic of Epcot.:surfweb:

My husband was born in Northern Kentucky, and still has family on his father side that live around Ludlow, Covington and Florence.

Hey Jackie--made me miss being at MK too!! I was so sad that POTC was closed--I know my nephews would have LOVED it, and I so wanted my brother to see the updated version!

That is a really hard situation to deal with!! I have never stayed at the ASMU family suites, but at least you would have good bed space from what I have heard about their layout. Since I haven't stayed at POR since it was Dixie Landings, I'm not sure about how they could accomodate all 5 of you--the room we stayed at there only had two queen beds. I know they have the bunk beds--will that work for your dynamic? If you opt for BC or WL, you can probably stay there cheaper if you rent points. We have rented points 3 years in a row, and have had no problems--so I could always walk you through that! BC is a great location if you are EP or DS fans, and WL of course a good choice if the majority of your time is spent at MK. I LOVE the look and setting of WL, so that would be my pick--but I think it depends more on which set of parks you will be more likely to frequent. The boats from BC to EP or DS are wonderful! CR is awesome just because of the monorail access, but will the rooms be the best fit for your bed needs? I don't know if these questions have helped or not--please feel free to continue to ask away!

Thanks for joining in on the fun--WELCOME!!! Megan LOVES being Tink--she had the entire ensemble on yesterday for my 83yo grandmother's birthday party! She looked too cute again! I always crack up at that video--specifically the end when she is pretending to give out autographs to her invisible friends! I am so glad she has an active imagination--so much to watch her play and see how her mind works!

That is so cool your hubby was originally from the NKY area!! My mother and father still live in Florence--which is the city where I grew up! Tom and I lived there when we first married, but moved out to Hebron when we bought our home. (Hebron is the city where the Cincinnati airport is located!) Very close to Florence though! It is a small world afterall!!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!! We had another ridiculously busy weekend--they are becoming way too familiar! Saturday we had the annual summer picnic for Tom's dad's side of the family at Megan's favorite park--it was an all-day event out in the heat and sun, but nevertheless, a great time--hey they are Italians, what do you expect??? We were all tuckered out and all in bed early on Saturday! Yesterday after going to church, we headed over to my Grandmother's house for her birthday party--she turned 83, yet she can probably run laps around me! She is too cute! Megan insisted that she take her Tinkerbell outfit with us to change into at the party since she needed to wear a "special outfit" for the birthday gala. We did, and she looked too cute again! After the party, we met up with our good friends for dinner at one of our favorite local restaurants--we had passed our really good, in really great shape, very expensive Britax car seats on to them after Megs' moved on to the booster so they could use it for their new son, so they wanted to take us out to dinner to thank us. We had a great time!!!

I am currently uploading the Epcot pics and video to my photobucket, so as soon as that is done, the Epcot update will be complete!! Stay tuned!! I just wanted to pop in and say "hey!" and let you all know what has been going on around here! Have a great day!!! Jen

Just thought I'd pop in and tell you I ordered the Hipster in Capri Melon. I really think it will be perfect. I was planning to use something else (which I still love), but it's a dark giraffe print and there are lots of zipper pulls that are really loud, I think it would drive me nuts! And I wanted something more "sunny Florida vacation" looking. I'll use the other one as my winter purse...unless I get something in the new VB pattern you were mentioning...:rolleyes1 .

Also thanks for the info about renting points. I just talked to DSisIL who is leaving on Friday. They're staying in a 2br villa at SSR and holy cow, they are paying a ton for it because she didn't know about renting points. When I told her how little we're paying at AKV, she was a little ticked off! There is just a bit of SisIL rivalry there:laughing:. They were engaged before us, and after she saw my ring, she got a new one!:scared1: There's lots more to our relationship, but I digress...

Thanks for all of your advice about everything and for sharing your life with us. Hope all is well with you and your family!

yup....busy weekend indeed!

Can't wait for the next update! (and no...I didn't look at the video yet :rolleyes1 I need to look at it this week)

I am glad you found a good bag for the trip--I so loved using my hipster this trip!! IT WAS AWESOME!!!

I am so glad that you got a MUCH better deal than your DSisIL--especially with the rivalry already brewing!! I can't believe she actually went out and got a new ring--that's CRAZY!!! I am sure your relationship is multi-faceted!!! ;) ;)

You are so welcome for the advice--ask away anytime! All is good with us--hope the same for you!!!

You can say that again!!! BUSY BUSY BUSY!!!!

CHERI--watch the video!!!! WATCH THE VIDEO!! :goodvibes

Thanks for answering my questions. You can now see my dilema. POR has the trundle bed rooms, but the last time we stayed there, my DS was still under 6feet. Now? idk. I do have questions about renting points. I tried to understand how it works by reading other threads, but I get confused. So, if you could expain it to me. I'm not sure if I can recieve PMs or not, or how that works either, so you can just post it here, or tell me how to recieve pm's.
Looking forward to an Epcot report.

You do have a very difficult one!! I will try to PM you to see if you can receive them--if you can, you will be able to send them too! Stay tuned!

the girls are absolutely adorable in that video!!
i really enjoyed the update!

I thought it was too cute too! The boys being boys also crack me up too! Thanks for the kudos! Stay tuned for more!!!

Sounds like you had another fun but exhausting weekend!!!

Looking forward to the Epcot update when you get a chance. :goodvibes

Tell me about it!! This month has been a doozy for us--doesn't lighten up at all this weekend either!! UGH! I love being busy, but this is going a tad overboard!!! Tom and I celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary on the 24th, and we literally don't know when or how we are going to squeeze that in with everything else going on! We want to do something fun and romantic and different, but are running out of ideas--when you have been together as long as we have, it is hard to find something new!

The Epcot update will be posted tomorrow morning--I doubt I will be able to post it all tonight! See now, you have something to look forward to tomorrow!!! :rotfl:

I know what you mean -- Charles and I will have been married 13 years in October, and we have been racking our brains for what we want to do -- last year we went to Disney -- that sure would be fun to do again. ;)

That is definitely something to look forward to for tomorrow!

OK I just got caught up.
Now I'm just waiting for more.popcorn::

Good Morning Everyone!!!

When I last left you, we were all heading back to OKW very late--around 11pm or so, exhausted but fulfilled by our very busy and rewarding day at MK!! Mom and Dad were beat, and they decided on the bus back that they were going to sleep in the next morning--opting out of the CM ressies because they wanted to rest up. They said they would just meet us at EP later in the morning. We would miss them, but didn't want the heat and the demands of walking around EP to wipe them out either. Kristi said that she still planned on getting up and going with us----we would just need to check with Mike when we got back to the hotel. Which we did upon returning Josh to him---again, he was going to forego getting up early for CM, and would meet us over at EP at some point later that morning as well. So at this point, Tom and I were starting to think about our own likelihood of making it to our beloved CM ressie. After putting our sleeping Tink to bed, we discussed it--we were going to have to drive over there, and then inevitably bring the van back to OKW before heading over to EP for rope drop. We were also going to have to get up very early to get ready and get there, and since Megs did not have the luxury of a nap that day, we were worried about the actuality of being able to do that. So after MUCH deliberation, we ultimately decided it was not going to be a good idea to get Megs up so early and rush around all morning, so I sadly accepted that we weren't going to go to CM afterall!!!! Needless to say I was sad, but I was also VERY tired, so my unhappiness didn't last too long as I quickly fell asleep once I hit the pillow! I realize this a mortal sin--giving up on a CM ressie--but we had to do what we thought was going to be best for Megs, and we wanted her to be in good spirits that day since she was going to her princess meal at Norway that night. This is the one decision on the trip that I have come back to over and over again thinking I should have done this differently since Megs didn't really see the Gang in a meet and greet the entire trip!! BUT she never really asked to go see them either--maybe she was just content since she got to see them so much last time!

SO NO 7:10 RESSIES AT CM FOR US!!!

We all actually slept in until the alarm went off this morning--I guess we really were tired! Did the usual getting ready and eating breakfast jig, and were out the door and at the bus stop by 8am. We seemed to wait quite a bit this morning for an Epcot bus, but it finally showed and quickly whisked us away to EP. As we joined the lines at the turnstiles, we were swarmed by a HUGE group all in lime green t-shirts----it was a school group, and I am not joking---there were HUNDREDS of them! Tom looked a little nervous, and said, "Wow, do you think that is going to be a problem today?" We were a little worried for awhile, but had NO problems with being stuck behind the huge group at any point that day. (OT--I saw them upclose later in the day, and saw that they were a bunch of students that had maintained a high honor roll average, and thus were rewarded with the trip to EP!! How cool I thought--being a former teacher!)

ANYWAY, so we got through the turnstiles and walked into the park--the ropes hadn't dropped yet, so we lined up at Spaceship Earth--a ride Kristi has never had the chance to ride. As we were waiting for the rope to drop, we noticed the family behind us had on Cincy Reds stuff. Being a Reds fan himself, Tom couldn't resist, and started talking to them immediately. They were a lovely family, and we chatted with them for a bit. At one point we greatly helped them out by letting them know that they COULD use FP. They thought they couldn't because they were staying offsite. Once they found this out, I thought they were about to adopt us for giving them such tripsaving advice!! They were SO happy! So the rope dropped, and we all headed right into "the big ball!" We got right on of course, and we all enjoyed the ride (or so we thought--more later)---of course Megan chose to ride in front with you-know-who! The funniest part of the ride was at the end when they do the stuff on the computer screen--for some reason all they got on K's picture was her EAR!! It looked so funny to see Megan walking around with this giant EAR on legs!!! It was a nice relaxing way to start our morning!

We then decided to head over to The Seas area, but we sent Tom running for Soarin' FP. Here a couple pics of the girls as we waited for Tom to get back to The Seas:

004-3.jpg

We walked right on to the Nemo ride---we so LOVE this ride!!!

325.jpg

Yes, Tom and I were alone again!
Once we got off the ride, we walked right over to the Turtle Talk area, and were told it would be just a moment before the first show, so we hung out in the pre-show area and had some fun!!! Here's K enthralled by the "jellies!"

007-2.jpg

Megan loved playing with the computer monitors---we kept laughing though because she just kept hitting buttons, and had all these different languages popping up all the time! She just kept on "working" as she kept telling us!

008-2.jpg

326.jpg

327.jpg

It wasn't long before they were ushering us into the theater! This was K's first time seeing Crush, and we all laughed and enjoyed the show as usual!! Megs sat with us in the front row--wouldn't venture onto the floor with all the kiddos yet--maybe next time! Once we were finished with Crush, we walked around the aquarium for a little more, then decided to head over to The Land. We were a little early for our FP for Soarin', so we walked right into the next showing of the Circle of Life show, and then walked downstairs and walked right on to the Land boat ride with only about a 5 min. wait. Since we still had a little time left before the FP, we went ahead and got our lunch at Sunshine Seasons. We got our lunches, and then Tom ran over to the Imagination Pavilion to get FP for for HISA show, and then came back to eat. I had food from the chinese station--it was very good, but my dessert was the best!! Here's a pic:

331-2.jpg

It was this Butterfinger topped brownie with marshmallows and fudge drizzled over it!! TOO GOOD!!! I studied it, and I think I can recreate it here at home! MMMMMM GOOD!!! As we were eating, we received a call from Mike that they had just arrived at EP, so we told them to meet us at SS. And they did!!! BUT after a VERY rough morning with a few junior cases of the grumpies, they looked like this:

328-1.jpg

329-1.jpg

330.jpg

Apparently there was a bit of disagreement amongst the ranks about what they wanted to do that morning---Poor Mike! Oh well, their moods quickly began to change as they began to devour their lunches. Once K and I finished our lunches, we decided to go ahead and use our FP for Soarin'--Megs didn't want to ride it this year--said she got scared on it last year--and Tom opted out because he didn't want to risk getting sick after lunch. So off we went! We chatted it up in the FP line, and were quickly hopping on the ride. We both LOVED it!! Kristi did grab a hold of me and the handgrips a couple times for fear of falling, but it was a great time! Tom and Megs were waiting on a bench when we got out, but no Mike and the kids. Tom said that they got on the Land ride after lunch. So we went over to that exit to wait for them. And we waited, and we waited, and we waited!!! We kept calling, but no answer on his cell phone! SO, Megan found her own personal "throne:"

014-2.jpg

We saw so many people come off the ride, and no Mike and the kids that we started thinking that they must have gotten off before we got there and headed over to the Imag. Pavilion since they knew that was where we were heading. So we left The Land, and walked into our showing of HISA.

015-2.jpg

Megan is SUCH a big fan of the 3D glasses!!

019-2.jpg

Megan only got scared a couple times, but wasn't too upset by it. Still no sign or signal for Mike, so we went down to the Imagination ride. Kristi was so excited because she was such a big fan of Figment when she was little!!! We all enjoyed the ride until the skunk scent spray---that REALLY bothered Megs and her oversensitive sense of smell!!! Once we finished the ride, we played around in the labs for just a bit:

021-2.jpg

022-2.jpg

Here's a video clip of Megs playing--enjoying her new found ability to jump!

Again--just click on the pic to get it to play!

I'm going to go ahead and post this, and then will continue in the next post!

So once we left our imaginations behind, we headed out in the sun to try to find Mike and the kids again. Here's some CRAZY pics we took while we were waiting:

016-2.jpg

017-2.jpg

018-3.jpg

Then Megan and ALL of us, thought we spotted some familiar faces--it was Mike and the kids!!! YEAH, we met back up, and all decided to head over to the other side of FW. We wanted to get FP for TT, but they weren't until MUCH later in the evening, so thought we would just try for that later. So we then, headed up towards the Universe of Energy. We had to wait outside for about 5 sweltering minutes--it was REALLY getting ungodly hot by this point, but were then ushered inside to the relief of the A/C!!! The preshow quickly started, and continued on with the rest of the ride. This was the first time any of us had seen this since it had been changed to the Ellen version--it was enjoyable, and we all welcomed the relief of the cool A/C. The dinosaurs didn't even really bother Megs. The funniest thing about this was that we would later realize and find out that the eight of us were not alone on this ride---my mom and dad had actually arrived to EP right before, and THEY chose this ride to do first---THEY WERE ON THE RIDE WITH US!!! NONE of us knew it!! How funny is that! When we got out of UofE, we headed over to MS, and saw that the green version only had a 15 minute standby wait. So, Mike, Kris, Josh, and I headed on it--the others opted out for various reasons so Tom took them to play in the water fountains nearby where they entertained themselves with a "water fight!" Our wait, was MUCH less than 15 mins, and before we knew it we were entereing our cockpit!!! We let Josh be the pilot---a role he took VERY seriously!! Needless to say, we had an absolute BLAST!!! When we got back outside, we quickly found our gang chilling out by the fountains. We needed to make some potty runs at the nearby bathrooms--while we were waiting for everyone, guess who came strolling by---Mom and Dad!!! Apparently, they jumped on the Green version right after us---they LOVED it too!! We all couldn't believe they actually rode it!!! Since it was getting so hot, we all decided we needed a frozen Disney treat--most of us picked the oh so yummy Mickey ears!!! Tom and I realized though, that Megs was QUICKLY fading, so even though we had all just been reunited, we knew that if she was going to be worth anything that night, we needed to go ahead and head back to the room for a well-needed nap. So we said our good byes--see you later--since they were alll going to stay for some more EP fun!! We ate our frozen treats as we were heading back to the bus---OT, this would turn out to be the BEST move we have ever made our ENTIRE lives!!!! ANYWAY, here's Megs enjoying her Mickey ice cream treat while we waited FOREVER for the bus back to OKW:

037-1.jpg

038.jpg

Like I said, we had to wait FOREVER for the OKW bus, but at least we got to enjoy watching Megan eating her treat and we also chatted with the CUTEST honeymooning couple who were also waiting with us. After 10 or 15 minutes of waiting, we all noticed that the sky was starting to look really odd, and the wind was picking up quite a bit. And what was that off in the distance???? Was that lightning????? IT WAS!!! It was still a way off, but we all surmised that if we had to stand there 10 more minutes, we would surely be waiting amongst a HUGE amount of rain and LIGHTNING!!! I started to pray SO hard that our bus would be the next one to pull in so that we could safely make it back-----and within minutes, the OKW bus FINALLY pulled in!! We grabbed Megs, folded up the stroller, and hopped on as quickly as we could. I am not joking, the minute the bus door closed and started to pull away, it began to pour down the FIERCEST rain I have ever seen in my entire life!! It was that quick that it started, and you could not believe how intense and powerful this rain was!! PHEW!!! We made it just in time!!! As we enjoyed our nice dry ride back to OKW, we started realizing that the rest of the gang could very well be stuck out in this rain--so we started hoping they were in a safe, dry place! Megan tried to fall asleep on the bus, but the thunder was SO LOUD, it woke her every time she drifted off. I AM TALKING REALLY DEAFENING LOUD!!! We went around to all the bus stops---since ours was the last one to drop off, praying that the rain would somehow miraculously lighten up-----NO LUCK AT ALL!!! Our room was pretty darn close to the stop, but it had rained so hard that the roads were already overfilling with water, and we knew no matter how fast we ran, we were going to be soaked---and we had to carry a 4 yo and a stroller all at the same time!!! We gave each other that "good luck" look before we got off, and began to run like we have never run before---Tom carried Megan, and I carried the stroller. I am not joking, the water was already coming up to the middle of our calves as we ran, and it was coming down so hard and so fast it felt like we were running through a wall of water. To make matters worse, as I started to run across the street, our bus pulled out and continued on instead of letting me cross first----so I had to STOP running and wait for the bus to pass!!! NO FUN when the lightning and thunder seemed to be all around us! Before we knew it though, we were safe and dry in our hotel room, but literally soaked from head to toe--no one had even a dry spot on them! The lightning and thunder were getting worse and worse, and the trees outside of our room, seemed to be almost completely bent over. There was debris all over the walks and ground, and the sky looked completely OMINOUS!!! As I began stripping off the wet clothes of Megan and I, Tom started trying to call my mom and dad and the rest of the gang---no luck!! We couldn't get through to ANY of them!! Then our walls and patio door literally started shaking with each lightning bolt and strong gust of wind. So Tom turned on the TV and decided it was best that we find out EXACTLY what was going on!!! Megs and I got a quick shower, and then I slipped on some warm PJs for her and tucked her into bed. The poor thing was so tired, but again, everytime she fell asleep, another bolt of lightning and thunder jolted her awake. I also got on some warm clothes and crawled into our bed to watch the news with Tom---it was NOT good!!! Obviously we were all under a Severe Thunderstorm warning, but that warning quickly turned into a TORNADO WARNING!!!! :scared1: They kept showing the rotating indicators on the radar, and they were RIGHT OVER what they showed to be the WDW area!!! We were completely freaked out! We didn't know what we should do--but just decided it was just best to stay put. We had no luck getting ahold of anyone via their phones, so we texted the info we had to them in hopes that they would at least get that! It was a LONG, dark, and stormy afternoon!!! We never saw any funnel clouds, but the wind, rain, thunder, and lightning were probably some of the worst I have EVER experienced!!!! It was CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!! BUT we did survive, and it did eventually end! THANK GOD!!! We later found out that the gang had headed over to The Seas pavilion and was busy riding the ride and enjoying the show when the storm started. They broke out the ponchos and headed over to their 6pm dinner ressie at Marrakesh a little after 5pm, and made it over there safe and sound. They then got to wait out the storm while enjoying their lovely dinner---hopefully Mike will eventually fill us all in on their adventures that day!!! They did not know about the warnings, but are now so happy that they made it safe and sound!

In the next update---our Epcot day continues.......or does it???? Will we make it to any foreign lands?? Will we make it to our long awaited Princess dinner??? Will Megan ever get to meat Snow White??? Will we get to enjoy any magic hours in EP?????? Will we ever see the rest of the fam again??? Stay tuned------will be coming soon!

Great Update! :thumbsup2

I really enjoy the way you write, it makes me feel like I am right there with you. I was worried Megs was going to get really scared by the storm but it doesn't seem like she was.

Can't wait for more! popcorn::
