Mom and Dad's Dream Trip-34 Yrs in Making-Jun08 SOUVIE PICS PG 51 NEXT TRIP!!???!!!!?

You know, I mapquested it and it says it would take more than 13 hours from here (we're only 10 miles north of Nashville)! When I read how quickly you made it from KY, I was SURE there had to be better news than that! I want to do it in one day, but DH isn't looking forward to rolling into WDW late at night... so we'll see what happens!

That seems crazy!! I will look over our atlases and see why that might be--doesn't make much sense to me!!!

Happy birthday to Mike! Sunday is my own 34th birthday, so YEAH for the June crowd!

Happy Birthday to you too!!! I know what you want for you birthday--another installment on our TR right?!?!?!?! Coming soon....................................................................!!!!!!!

Ok now, let's see..........Where were we again????????????????

OH YES......................................ON THE ROAD AGAIN!!!!!! (Day Two!)

When we last left our fateful travelers, we had just arrived in Morrow, Georgia--the place so easy to get in to, but IMPOSSIBLE to get out of!!!! (Doo, DOO, DOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Ooooohhhhh, I just LOVE the drama!

After checking in to our room, Tom, the sleeping Megan, and Kristi all fell into bed fast asleep. Due to all my seething enthusiasm, I was wired!!! So I decided to take a quick shower and then I put out all the clothes that we would need for the morning. Tom asked if we could sleep until 7am---way late in my Disney crazed brain---but after taking one look into his beautiful sleep-deprived brown eyes, reason and logic took control of my frenzied mind and I realized how much more he needed to sleep than we needed to arrive at OKW an hour or two sooner. So I set the alarm for 7am, went over and kissed both my sleeping sweeties "good night," and then crawled into bed with Kristi (Megs wanted to sleep w/Tom) and fell asleep dreaming of the castle and the mouse!

7am came very quickly, and we were all up and ready again for the day!!! YEAH!!! We would be seeing that LOVELY sign today!! I couldn't wait, and I knew that it wouldn't take us long based upon the way Tom was driving, SO I WAS PUMPED! The BW had a free continental breakfast, so we stopped in there on our way out. Nobody ate much, we all just grabbed a quick bite and then we were back in the car ready to go. AND THAT'S WHEN IT ALL SUDDENLY STARTED GOING WRONG!!! I will call it the Morrow Curse! We pulled out of the hotel's lot knowing where exactly we needed to pick up the expressway, and were pleasantly surprised to see a sign for a gas station just before it. Tom wanted to fill up, so we could go, go, go until lunch. We pulled in the station---it looked open---BUT ALAS, the station was eerily closed. I swear the building even looked like the lights were on! When we got closer to the pumps, we noticed they were all covered in bags!!!! UGH! No gas there! So, option #1 quickly ruled itself out. We pulled back out onto the main drag and kept heading the same direction thinking SURELY we would find another station before the expressway ramps! THE CURSE continued because as we passed both North and Southbound ramps, we quickly realized that we were going to have to go down MUCH further to find another station. Well, we had no other choice, so we kept heading down the road to the next gas station we saw. We finally found one open and with gas, so we stopped. It really did seem like it took us FOREVER to find one!!! Tom pumped the gas, and then Megan and Kristi both realized at the same time that they needed to go potty--so they went. I just started studying our atlas to see how close we were getting to FLORIDA!!! We all finally made it back in to the van and headed back on our way---or so we thought!!! We went to make a left turn to go BACK towards the interstate, and (Da DA!!!!!) we found the infamous median instead!!!! NO WAY THROUGH! As we looked up and down the highway, all we saw was this HUGE median that had no breaks to cross traffic!!!! UGH!!! What were we going to do! We started back down the highway--AWAY FROM THE EXPRESSWAY--and kept looking for a way back! Tom grew more and more impatient with each block passed. There just seemed to be NO way back. He finally found a strip mall parking lot that seemed to stretch back in the direction we wanted to go, so we followed it through many bumps and bends, and somehow finally found a pathway! This roadblock on our journey literally took us 14 mins from the time we left the gas station to the time we entered the southbound ramp due to the complexities of the situation, the lights we had to sit through, etc!!! I actually timed it because we were all so frustrated!!!! (Left the gas station at 7:44, and on the ramp at 7:58am!!!!) Can you just imagine the torment and torture I suffered in those 14 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I JUST WANTED TO GET THERE PEOPLE!!!! Okay, I just realized that I sound like a MAJOR road rager, and I just need to interject that I am usually a very stable, calm, and patient person. I was just very amped up on Friday and Saturday with EXTREME excitement about getting to WDW!! I humbly ask for all apologies for my little rants!! :bitelip: :) Okay, thanks everyone! I feel so much better now! I was starting to feel my heart flutter a little while I was typing and recalling that incident!! OOPS! I do have a little funny to share with you all on a little sidenote, Jackie (aka Charleston Princess) was sharing on her TR that she also had a little incident in Morrow---nearly curbed her new mini-van trying to make a U-turn and get around that blasted median!!! See, I tell you there is something to this Morrow Curse!!! BEWARE! (Okay, and if there is anyone reading this from Morrow--lovely little town--but can you help us out with the median?!?!)

Alright, so it was now 8am and we were finally headed back on the right path--due south to WDW!!! Things for the next few hours went pretty smoothly---Megan watched some flicks on her DVD player and talked non-stop to all of us. (So cute!) Tom hit the pedal to the metal and kept us rolling right along--good job sweetie!!! And Kristi did what she does so well in the car------that's right she slept!!! I was so tempted to put that picture back in here, but I guess once really does it justice enough! I honestly can't tell you what I did--probably a mixture of singing loudly to the tunes on the IPOD, talking incessantly about our plans for the trip, and working like a mad woman on my Sudoku and logic puzzles. I honestly have no real recollection of what happened until our lunch break. The only little moment I remember from that morning's drive was our entrance into Florida---yeah, that was memorable!!! I so desperately wanted to take a picture from the car of the beloved Florida sign as we passed to put here for all you lovely TR readers, so once we got near Valdosta, I started getting ready!!! We were trucking it pretty fast, but I knew if I was ready, I could get the shot---got the camera out, turned it on, played with the zoom until I had it just right, and I waited, and waited, and it finally started coming into sight. I put up the camera, steadied my arm, and pushed the button...........................................................and that's when it happened!!!!!!! That's when "WHAT HAPPENED?" you say? That's when I knew that my previous suspicions about something being wrong with my camera were RIGHT!!!!! It froze up, wouldn't take any picture, and then the screen went black with a small corner of the view showing. AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!:scared1: :faint: I am sure the people could hear me screaming for at least 100 miles!!! Not only did I miss "the shot," I knew that this meant VERY bad things for the future!!!!!! OH, I was SO right too!!! You will have to stay tuned to see how the camera saga continues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay, now I really wanted that pic for the TR, so I copied one off the net for you all---enjoy it even though it didn't come from my camera!!!!!!! ;)

7234Welcome-Florida-558762.jpg

Now due to the camera catastrophe I completely forgot to write down or even notice what time we got to the Florida line---so sorry!!! But some of you might be able to deduce the time once you see what time we arrived at OKW!

Okay, so we kept going until around noon, when we all knew it was inevitable that we needed to stop--needed some gas, Megan was hungry, and we all had to potty! So once we got to a gas station, Megs, Kris, and I all headed to the ladies' room, and Tom started to pump the gas. This was probably not the wisest of moves--I think Tom was a little tired from driving and getting a little punchy, because when he tried to pump the gas, he accidentally sprayed the side of the van first!! I don't know if he thought he already had the nozzle in or what--but the van now REAKED of gasoline!!!! So once we all got out of the restrooms, and finished pumping gas, and reseated in the van, we were OVERWHELMED by the toxic smell of GAS!!!! Tom checked to see if that station had a car wash, and of course they did NOT! So we started to drive around what ever little town it was that we were in--don't remember--until we found a gas station that had a car wash--ironically it had a drive thru Arby's too! So we headed through the car wash--we were all a little miffed that once again we were delayed--and then the phone rang. We answered it to hear a chorus of "YEAH, WE ARE HERE!!! WOO HOO!!!" It was my Dad, and apparently they had just driven under our beloved sign. (SIGH--:( ) I forgot to tell you that we were hoping to catch up to them and pass them--they were only a little more than two hours ahead of us at the beginning of the day, and we left almost an hour before them, but with all our delays and whatnot, we were unable to surprise them at the resort. OH WELL!! So we finished the car wash, and then looped around and went through Arby's for lunch, and then back on the road again!!! FINALLY!!! Our next stop would be Disney----RIGHT?!?!?!??!

WRONG!!!!!!!!! We finally made it to the turnpike with all the tolls--but we were prepared with the money ready, and ready to roll on through--------until a little voice said, "Mommy, I need to go poo-poo!!!" So much to all our dismay---we could TASTE Disney we were so close---we got off the next exit and took the little miss to the potty. We quickly came back out and got back on the turnpike, had to pay an extra toll for the pooper, but were finally back on our way!!!! We quickly found ourselves on that new Western Way section--empty btw--and before we knew it, we were looking for our Disney World exit!!! It was neat because we could look over the horizon to the left and we saw the "Ball!" Not long after exiting, we too got to drive through that infamous sign:

disneysign.jpg

Again, not my pic---let's just NOT go there with the camera situation!!! The same thing happened when I tried to take it AGAIN! :scared1:

We followed all the signs and soon were driving through the gates at the Old Key West resort:

okw6.jpg

The gateman checked us through the gate and shouted out, "Welcome Home!!" Oh what a thrilling feeling!! I know my eyes were brimming with tears at this point!! I was so excited to FINALLY be back! We drove through to the self-park area, parked the van, and Kristi, Megan, and I got out and did a little happy dance right there in the parking lot--- :cool1: :hyper:
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it looked a lot worse than that! WE MADE IT!!!!

What adventures are in store for us in part two of Day two? Do we get checked in okay? Did we get any of our requests for rooms/locations? What did we spend our afternoon doing? Are there any more twists and turns for our fateful travelers? Does my camera EVER start to work? Do we make it safe and soundly to our evening ADR? Do we EVER get to eat? And just why IS that little leaf moving? HMMMMMMMMMMMM?????? All these answers and so much more fun in the next installment---Day Two, Part TWO (Dum, DUM, DUM!!!!)

OH THE DRAMA!!!!:goodvibes

YAY another post!!!!!!!!! And a cheek-biter it was!!! Wow, what a roller coaster of a day you guys had! Glad to see that it all worked out in the end (all but the camera anyway, we'll have to wait and see what came of that) and you finally made it "home". Can't wait for the next installment!popcorn::

Bless your heart! I feel so relieved you finally got there!

I'm looking forward to pictures of Old Key West! It's on my list!

The Morrow Curse! That it is!

We had to be neck and neck the whole way down -- we got on the highway from the Morrow Fiasco around 8:15. However, with Tom's driving, you were probably way ahead of us most of the way! :rotfl:

Don't you love Western Way? :lovestruc

So glad that you FINALLY made it to Old Key West!

Hope the camera situation improves for you! That would have been so frustrating! :scared:

Your post just reaffirmed that I am so so so happy I bought my new camera before the trip... or I am sure I would not have captured a lot of our great moments!

Glad you arrived! Can't wait for the fun to begin!

What a whirlwind of a day! I am SO glad you finally made it there! Didn't all your travelling mishaps just go out the window after you made it "home" ? :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear more! I love your writing style!

Sorry to hear of the troubles in Morrow.. I think you still made better time then we did and Morrow is about 45 min from us... I am guessing your Camera situation improved :) Can't wait to read more..

Is anyone else doing this now... Like this time last week we were all watching Wishes :) All week I have been , this time last week we were doing this or that etc... soooo sad..... since I have no idea when we will be back.

 Yay...I'm finally caught up now. Wow, you guys had one heck of a time on the drive down and :scared1: about the camera. I would have totally freaked out. I'm so glad that you guys made it "home" finally. And, geez, you are so good with those cliff hangers. popcorn:: Cant wait foe the next installment!!

Thank you so much for the kind reply. I do get sooo excited when I find someone else going through the same amazing adventure we go through on a daily basis. Not many people understand, sadly not even family, why DS2 is "freaking" out because there is still one tiny spot of yogurt left on his shirt that needs to be cleaned, or why his bookbag needs to be completely centered in the back seat before we pull out and go.

BTW....Congrats on the weight loss. I loss 40 lbs last year and remember how "on top of the world" i felt. It is such an accomplishment.

Too funny on how your sister can just sleep in the car. Unfortunately I could never do that. If I'm not driving I always have to have an eye out...just incase.

Megan is too cute and looked so excited on her way to Disney. OMG...what an angel in her Minnie dress.

It was crazy, but of course that chaos instantly melts away as soon as you realize you are "home!" Oh, stay tuned for the camera drama--it rivals some of the best soaps out there!

Bless your heart! I feel so relieved you finally got there!

I'm looking forward to pictures of Old Key West! It's on my list!

OKW really is a pretty resort--very relaxing to come home to each day! We had a beautiful view and prime location----but you will have to wait for the next installment to find out all about that!!! I will give you my review of the place soon! STAY TUNED!!!

So what WERE you doing in Morrow at 8:15??? We probably were next to one another a LOT!!! I SO love Western Way--but I hope that the secret doesn't get out too much, or else it won't be such a great find!!!!!!! OH THE DRAMA OF THE CAMERA DEBAUCLE!!! OH ME OH MY!!!

Your post just reaffirmed that I am so so so happy I bought my new camera before the trip... or I am sure I would not have captured a lot of our great moments!

Glad you arrived! Can't wait for the fun to begin!

Let me put it this way, whenever that little voice in the back of your head starts telling you that something might be wrong--especially when it pertains to a WDW trip---LISTEN!!! :goodvibes The drama just keeps going and going!!!!! Stay tuned for lots more fun and PICS!!! (Hmmm?!!?!?!?)

What a whirlwind of a day! I am SO glad you finally made it there! Didn't all your travelling mishaps just go out the window after you made it "home" ? :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear more! I love your writing style!

It was a crazy day, but like you said, it all just melted away as soon as we heard the "Welcome Home!" Oh, that is the best feeling!

More is coming soon! Thanks for the compliment on my writing style--many times people have told me that I had a talent for writing, but I guess I have never had the confidence enough to actually believe them!! I would SO love to write a children's book that would actually be published. I have spent years journaling and jotting down ideas, but never take the time to actually devote to finishing them out. I wish writing them felt as easy and as comfortable as writing these reports!!!!!! I would have thousands written by now if they were!

Sorry to hear of the troubles in Morrow.. I think you still made better time then we did and Morrow is about 45 min from us... I am guessing your Camera situation improved :) Can't wait to read more..

I started doing that even before we left--these trips go by WAY too quickly, which is so unfair considering the amount of time we spent planning them! My sister said the truest thing about our trip before we left--she said it all went by so quickly and in such a blur that it felt like we didn't actually live it--it was like walking through a dream or something. How can we figure out how to bottle it up one morsel at a time so it lasts longer? We didn't get as much down time as I would have liked this time, so it has caused me to once again go for a longer time next time--is there ever a long enough Disney trip? ;)

Melissa--first of all, you made me laugh and cry all at the same time when you were talking about a.) the fact that friends and family really just don't understand what our little ones are going through and b.) when you shared the examples of the yogurt spot and the backpack on the back seat. There are a thousand and one things that happen throughout the day with Miss Megan along those lines that always need to be taken care of and addressed. She can't stand tags in clothing or feeling anything uncomfortable or scratchy on her clothes; all her toys have to put away in the right place, and if they aren't she can't function until everything is put right again; she has a routine and pattern for everything she does in her life--brushing her teeth, bedtime rituals, eating at the table--and if any of those routines get thrown out of whack, she crumbles and can't pull it back together again until things are the way she wants and is used to them. There are so many things like that that I could share with you--and I completely agree that the only ones who ever really understand are people like us that have to juggle these problems for our children on a daily basis. I feel like I spend the majority of my day, preventing things from getting out of line for her, or fixing and correcting them when they do. Many of my friends think I should just let her melt down and get over it, but they don't get that she physically CAN'T just get over it---these things become painful distractions, and in Megan's case, she physically can't begin to try to process anything else or new until we fix the current problem--it's like being a broken record stuck on the same scratch. If it is something affecting her sense of touch, it is literally painful like daggers to her until the problem is resolved--thank God for tagless clothing! I think it is even harder for people to understand because she appears completely "normal" from the outside--they just don't know what she feels like on the inside!!! Sending hugs to you and your angel--- Stay tuned for more TR fun!! Jen P.S. Congrats to you on your weight loss also!!! Maybe you can be another cheerleader for me to lose more!!! I want to keep going until I reach my goal--whatever that is!!! (I haven't figured out how much to lose yet!)

Great installment but I want more! :badpc: Don't leave us hanging!!! :rotfl2:

BTW...we have a 'surprise' trip planned for our first OKW stay. 2 Bedroom just after New Year's!!

Don't you just love road trips that go array? The only thing positive that I can say about your travel woes is that someday all of you can say "remember that time..." and everyone will laugh and talk about it. My cousing got orange gum stuck on her nose, in July, in a traffic jam, in Chattenooga, in a van without air conditioning. We ALL talk about it now 20 years later. Good times.
And isn't it always the case, with my kids anyway, that they just finish going to the bathroom and you get back out on the road, start driving and they didn't finish their business the first time? My little one always has to go to the bathroom when we're driving through Chicago during rush hour traffic and there are no potty's until we get on the other side of Chicago and into WI. So, we have learned to stop at the last rest stop in MI. (sorry to ramble)
I can't wait to read your next installment. :surfweb:

Sorry to leave everyone hanging--yesterday I was busy babysitting one of my girlfriend's daughters who wasn't feeling that great--so she needed a lot of cuddling! Wasn't able to get to the computer as much or for a long stretch to put up the next installment--it is coming TODAY!!!

Love the rambling!!! The gum story reminds me of one of our favorite childhood stories about the time my sister had an incident with a red Skittle. She and I were sitting in the backseat of my mom's car, and for some reason, we had some candy snacks--she had Skittles--her favorite. I can't remember exactly how old she was, but I am going to guess around 6 or 7 years old. She was looking out the window, eating her Skittles, when she suddenly turned towards me and said, "Hey Jenni, I just put a SKITTLE up my nose!" and low and behold, there was this red Skittle, shoved into her right nostril. We giggled for a second, but then she quickly realized it was stuck when she tried to get it out. She kept trying to pull it out, and then the worst thing happened--the coloring started to melt and run down her nose and face---I thought she was bleeding profusely!!! I started screaming out of horror and concern to my Mom who was driving. She had no idea what was going on, but looked back to see Kristi's nose and lip COMPLETELY red--from the Skittle though!!! She freaked for a second, until we told her what Kristi had done--she must have realized that the red stuff all over her face was the food coloring and not blood, because she told us to calm down, and then she calmly told Kristi to roll down her window, push her other nostril closed, and BLOW out the window. Kristi followed her directions, and within seconds, the red Skittle flew out of her nostril and out the window like a torpedo!!!!!! Mom handed Kris a napkin to wipe up the red stuff, and then she was good as new again!!! This story still makes us all laugh hysterically when we talk about it!!!

That story is HILARIOUS!!!! :rotfl2: Just be glad Kristi isn't on disboards - first the sleeping van picture, and now this! :rotfl:

Loved your pre-trippie and desperately want more trippie! I, too, can relate to the challenges of "normal" days with our kids. My DD8 has severe anxiety and panic disorders (she's doing well now, with the help of meds and therapy) :) . But the clothing challenges for a while, my oh my! Tags, too tight, feels funny, etc...and not being able to get past it until all was right in her mind. There were many weeks that she wore the same pants to school everyday because they were the only ones that felt "right". We have come so far and not a day goes by that I'm not thankful for that.

Can't wait for more pics, the joy in Megan's face is unbelievable!

Okay, so when I left all of you guys hanging, there was a little bit of this going on:

:dance3: That's right---a little bit of Happy Dancing!!!

So once we composed ourselves, we headed towards the main Hospitality House and into here:

okw7.jpg

Very sweet and cozy lobby area at the OKW!!! You feel "at home" as soon as you step through the lobby doors! Since Kristi was staying in Mom and Dad's room, she didn't need to really do anything once we got there since they were already checked in. So being the sweet sister and THE WONDERFUL AUNT she is, she took Megan over to the lounge area to check things out and entertain her while we took care of business.

So they hung out here:

okw24.jpg

Again, problems with the camera, so I had to borrow some pics!
They had a good time exploring the lobby and lounge. Kristi is an artist and a very talented interior decorator, so she loved looking at the place from the artistic point of view--she fell in love with the specific "aqua-like" color that the exterior of the building is painted. She SO wants to find out somehow what paint and color that is because she wants to paint her porch's ceiling that color!!! Anyone got any ideas how she can find out?!?!?!?

ANYWAY, sorry to have digressed, Tom and I went right up to Megan (nice name!) at the registration desk--no wait to check in at all! (It was a little before 2pm.) I was excited to see which of our requests we were able to get--somewhat nervous too! We quickly found out that Mom and Mike each already had their rooms--they were ready ahead of time--so I was hoping that we would be that lucky!!!!! :hyper: No such luck!!! :worried: But I was excited to find out that their rooms were both in building 14--one of the building locations I had requested because it is so close to the HH and bus stop!! So again I was :hyper: !!! BUT, both of their rooms were on the 3rd floor--I had requested 1st floor so that we wouldn't have to haul a sleeping 4 year old and everything else up 3 flights of stairs at the end of the night--so again I was :( . They couldn't give us our room number yet since it wasn't ready :( , but they did tell us that we were in the same building as them and probably on the same floor! :hyper: So overall, I thought we were doing pretty good with all the requests they had to deal with!!! I was SUPER excited that we were going to be so close to the main area and pool!! :hyper: So all the little frowns went away----for a moment! So she told us that they would call our cell phone when our room was ready, and we continued on with the check-in process. The only thing left to do was take care of paying for the dining plan. NO PROBLEM!!! Remember when I went to the bank on Friday and made sure that we had all the cash we wanted and I had moved more money over to our checking account so we could just use our debit card to take care of DDP expenses and such????? Well, we gave them our debit card to pay for the DDP expenses, and they couldn't get it to work! :scared1: It wasn't that it was denied, it just kept saying "Invalid Amount!!" They even kept changing the amount they ran through to see if it would only take a small amount at a time, but still no go!! Needless to say, Tom was very UPSET!!! :furious: Not at Disney, but at his Mom's DUMB bank! We did all that shuffling of funds around, and were NOT even able to use it!!! We went ahead and just paid it with our emergency credit card that we NEVER use, and will just pay it off with the money from the STUPID account when the bill comes! Needless to say, all our accounts at that bank are about to be closed for good---regardless of the fact his mom works there!

OKAY---I felt the tension mounting again, and I had to stop to take a couple of deep breaths--all better!!! About this time, I realized that my sister had called my mom, who was at the pool, to tell them we were up in the lobby---and the lobby erupted with a very familiar voice singing "YOU MADE IT!!" Yes, it was my Mom!! We ran over and hugged each other so tight--like we hadn't seen each other in years--mind you, it really had just been about 36 hours! (I think we still suffer from separation anxiety at times!!!) She said they were all moved into their room, and were now down at the pool playing. I told her our room wasn't ready yet, but we DEFINITELY wanted to go swimming, so we all headed up to her room--1435--to get changed into our suits (which I had packed in our little overnight bag for easy access!!) BTW--1435 is a nice room, but unfortunately had the worst view out of all 3 of our rooms--it overlooks part of the air conditioning units!

So we were all getting changed into our suits, when I realized a small problem with losing the weight---I have already shrunk too much for my new suit!!! I just bought this GREAT suit at the beginning of the summer--it is one of those two-piece tankinis with a straight-skirted bottom and a halter top. Like this--but a different brown/aqua pattern on the top--anyway, VERY CUTE!!! The bottoms are a little big--but not too bad, BUT the top is WAY TOO BIG!!! I now have a real problem holding up and in the "girls!" When I first put it on, the "girls" kept falling out the V-neck top. So Kristi said I needed to tie the strings tighter at the top--so she did. THEN the "girls" kept falling out of the cups and down below the empire waist line! It was TOO funny!!! I am going to have to make a few sewing adjustments to it to make it fit right permanently, but for the time being, we found a way to get them to basically stay put temporarily--SO OFF TO THE POOL WE WENT!!! It was funny though, and we kept a vigilant patrol to make sure I wasn't giving anyone at the pool an unwarranted "show!" I have to admit, problems and all, I was VERY proud of the way I looked in it!! So as we were heading over to the pool, Kristi and I decided we needed to stop and get drinks for us. So we stopped here at the Gurgling Suitcase:

and got some frozen concoctions!!! She got some kind of special drink they had there, can't remember the name of it, but I stuck with my favorite---Pina Colada!!! All would agree that mine was better! IT was SO good, and the perfect drink to have while sitting by the pool! We went next door to Goods to Go to get a bottle of water for Megan, and a special surprise for Tom! He had said he just wanted a Coke, and as I was waiting to order it, I decided to go ahead and get him the souvenir refill mug!! I know we brought our 12 pack, but I thought the mug would be so nice for him to refill as he pleased while we were at the pool! I am so glad I did, because not only did he refill it plenty, he really enjoyed having the mug as a souvenir too! This was his face when I gave it to him and told him he could refill it as often as he liked---:bitelip: !!! So easy to make him happy!!

So here is where we spent the majority of our afternoon:

Mom and Dad had secured a great table with an umbrella, and we all took our turns swimming and pooling it, and also hanging out at the table chatting it up about our trips down, etc. Megan had her little "Nemo" swim ring on, and was enjoying waddling around in the pool. I tried to get her to go down the slide, but she was not interested. BUT I DID!!! SO much fun!! I went down with Kristi and all of Mike's kids, and I really think the kids were so surprised that their two aunts did it!! It was a LOT of fun!!

Around 4:15pm, Tom finally got the call that our room was ready, so he started over to unpack the van. I wanted SO MUCH to just stay in the pool, but I knew how much stuff he was going to have to lug up 3 flights of steps since there is no elevator, so I got up to go with him and Mom and Kris kept Megan at the pool. Josh was a sweetheart because he volunteered to come help us. So we all spent the good part of the rest of the hour unloading the van and moving things into our room--room 1432!! It looked a lot like this:

Mom and I so wanted to take home the picture that hung over our nightstands, because I SWEAR it looked just like the two of us when I was about 4 and she would have been around 30--the haircuts and hair color and EVERYTHING were the exact same!!! It looked just like us walking down the beach!!!

We were all up on the 3rd floor together, and we happened to be right next door to Mike and the kids in room 1431!! Our room actually had a great view:

YES FOLKS!!! THAT'S RIGHT--A real picture from my camera!!! Go figure!!! We found out about this time that it would for some reason work if we were "indoors" or at least tricked the camera into thinking it was "indoors!" Don't ask me why they wouldn't work in the van though!! So these took fine!!!

Here's Megan's bed with all of her "friends."

So once we got semi-unpacked, Tom and I decided that we would need to go ahead and take showers and get ready to catch the ferry boat over to SSR in time for our supper reservation. By the time he and I were showered and dressed, my Mom and Kristi showed up with Megs! So I quickly cleaned her up and got her dressed to go as well! Sidenote--they told us this cute story of how the one male lifeguard kept talking and playing with Megan while they were down there. They said it was too cute!! They said she kept grinning really cute at him and would coyly play back with him! I wish I could have seen that! TOO CUTE!!!

ANYWAY, so we all got dressed and met up down at the ferry dock at 6pm--not sure now why we met so early since our ADR wasn't until 7pm, but HEY, that's what we did! We waited on the benches for just a few moments, and while we did, Mike and the kids had a little surprise for Megan--a set of pins just for her!! I will post pics of them on here later, but they were TOO CUTE!! So sweet to do something like that for her!!! She was so excited to see them! Before we knew it, the ferry was pulling in, and we were getting loaded on it! It was a beautiful night with a light breeze, so it made the ferry ride that much more enjoyable!! On the way over to SSR, several memorable things happened: 1.) Megan fell asleep on her beloved Aunt Kristi's lap 2.) We met a very nice older man who saw Conner and Maddie's pin lanyards, and gave them each a really neat limited edition Aladdin pin--they were really cool!! SUCH a nice man! It was funny though because he gave them their pins right away because they had their lanyards out and on---Josh did not for some reason!!! He instantly got jealous of the other two, so he tried to slyly pull out his lanyard from the bag I had made for him. Although the man didn't hand him his pin right away--he tortured him about it for a little while--he did end up giving one to Josh also when we were getting off the ferry! TOO SWEET AGAIN!! 3.) The last thing was that the man, apparently some type of marketing executive, commented on how neat the kids' bags were that I had made, and told me that I ABSOLUTELY needed to begin making and selling them. It was so kind of a stranger to give out such a nice compliment. VERY NICE!

So we got to SSR around 6:30pm--early for our ADR--so we hung out in the lounge area where everyone was watching the Belmont. I also gave most of the gang a tour of the lobby and the main building of SSR and showed them where we stayed in November. Tom sat with the sleeping Megan in a big chair in the lounge. They finally took us back to our table at 7pm, and Megan stayed knocked out asleep--we stretched her over our laps to make her comfortable--she stayed asleep for the entire meal!!! Our meal was great--good food and a GREAT waiter, John. He was really good with the kids---kept trying to get Maddie to choreograph a dance to a song he taught her about chicken noodle soup. It went something like this: "Chicken Noodle soup, chicken noodle soup, chicken noodle soup with a soda on the side!" Needless to say, she was too embarrassed to join in, but Kristi, my mom, the boys, and myself all made up a little dance and joined in on the song! IT was so much fun!! Sorry, but no pictures--too busy holding a sleeping 4 year old!

I had the Tuna entree--VERY good!! First time I have ever eaten tuna cooked like that!! Tom had the Penne pasta with shrimp---also VERY good!! (I stole all his artichoke hearts though!) But by far the best thing anyone had was the risotto that came with the half-chicken!!! Conner and Kristi had that, and we all enjoyed sampling a little once Conner (a very picky eater) revealed how good the risotto was!! YUMMMMMMM!!! I want more of that right now! I ended the meal with the cheesecake which was DELICIOUS!!! All in all, a great meal, a great server!!! Don't forget about this gem of a restaurant!

When we were finished with our meals, we all kind of split up in separate directions--Mom and Kristi were going to try to go to MK to see the fireworks, Mike and the kids were going to head to DTD for some fun, and the rest of us headed back via the ferry to OKW to put Megs to bed and to finish unpacking. While we were walking down the ramp to the ferry, my dad and I were looking at the beautiful blooming trees, and I noticed some of the leaves that had fallen onto the walkway. While I was looking at them, I noticed that one of the "leaves" seemed to be moving!! But HOW could that be?!?!?!?!? As I was leaning down to pick it up, it JUMPED up and over my shoulder to the wall next to me!!! IT WAS A FROG!!!! My dad started laughing SO hard as I jumped to get away from the "leaf!!" It was too funny! Just had to share that little moment!!! TOO FUNNY!!!

Once back at OKW, Tom and I put our sleeping beauty to bed, and then started talking about the next day's events--Animal Kingdom!!! He had already accumulated a dozen maps from the lobby--I told you all he has a thing for collecting them--and had started trying to figure out the best strategy for touring the park. We discussed it as I unpacked and "moved" into our new home away from home--you will have to wait until our next installment to see what we decided to do!!! We had a GREAT day, and easily fell asleep around 11:30pm!!!

SO.................stay tuned for the next installment to see what time we wake? Will we make it AK before rope drop? Will we pick a good touring strategy? Will we make it the whole day? Will we enjoy AFRICAN food?!??!?!?! SO MUCH to look forward to!!!!! STAY TUNED!!!

Another great installment!!!

That sucks about the debit card -- did you ever figure out why it wasn't going through???

What a mixed blessing about the bathing suit -- on one side, it didn't fit, right, but on the other side, it meant you had a lost sooo much weight!

Don't you just love sitting by the pool on your first day with a drink? Sigh! :goodvibes

Yeay for Tom's excitement about his refillable mug! I use ours to take coffee to school during the year!

Dinner sounds wonderful and your pics of your view are gorgeous!

Disney wildlife!!! :rotfl2: My kids never stopped being amazed at all the frogs, lizards, and rabbits we saw at POFQ!

I'm joining in! I can't wait to read more about your trip. :goodvibes

THANKS so much for coming on board!!! WELCOME!! I hope you enjoy your stay here!! ;o)
That story is HILARIOUS!!!! :rotfl2: Just be glad Kristi isn't on disboards - first the sleeping van picture, and now this! :rotfl:

SO TRUE!!! Although, Kristi herself laughs so hard when we retell the Skittle story!! It was too funny for words!! One of those moments we will never forget about our childhood!

YEAH!! Welcome and thanks for sticking around for the TR!!! I can so relate to the dressing challenges--as well as all the other little daily challenges we deal with!! I'm glad you are here! More Megan pictures to come REAL SOON!!!
