Modifying (or getting desired WL) a reservation within 30 days of arrival

If the point value is less, do those points go into holding within 30 days? Also, if your wait list comes through within the 30 day mark and the point value is lower, do those points go into holding?

Okay… So if I am reading this correctly if modification happens within 30 days and the point values are lower, the difference in points goes into a holding account in the same use year… Does it have to be used within 60 days? Or just within that use year?

And also if you either modify or cancel a reservation as long as it is more than 30 days there is no penalty towards the points at all correct??

Once points are put into holding, they can only be used for reservations made 60 days or less from check in and will expire at of that UY.

For example, if one had a June UY and a desired wait list for less points came through for a January 2015 trip 30 days or less prior to check in, those points would need to be used by May 31st, 2015 and one would only be able to use them to book no more than 60 days out.

And im sorry I just want to confirm one more thing... if I cancel a reservation before the 30 day mark those points will go back into my account with no penalty and with no restrictions on when they need to be used by, correct? If i cancel an entire trip worth 80 points, those 80 points will go back in the 2014 use year it came out of and can still be banked into 2015? I am so sorry to ask I just want to be sure!! thank you!!

Yes, IF the points had not previously been banked or borrowed and IF you are still within your banking window (you don't say what use year you have).
