Modifying a reservation on Loews website?

I noticed that a "higher" room category is now available at the same APH rates that we have for a "lower" category for our September stay.

When looking in the account section on Loews, I see I can modify a reservation. This is lovely, as I don't like talking on the phone.

But it *seems* like it's going to take a second deposit, rather than just use the deposit they already have (and it would be for the same amount exactly).

Has anyone used the link to modify their Loews reservation? If so, did it generate a refund and then charge again, or did it do what (I feel) it "should" do, and just use the old deposit?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and experience!

Just call, they will help you change it in a few minutes, we do it all the time.

When you modify online, you are actually cancelling your original and rebooking. This is actually what you do when they call as well but they can generally keep your deposit.

I know, I know...I just get so nervous. I think I used up all my "phone minutes" when I was a teenager LOL, and now I avoid the thing like the plague! :)

So doing it online would generate a refund, and a new deposit...but by calling I could avoid that b/c they can make the system recognize that there's a deposit.

Thanks to both of you. I appreciate the info!

When ever I have called and changed they never do the refund thing. They just change it to the new rate or days. I have asked do you need another deposit , they said nope.

Sorry for missing it.

happens the same way for me as bluer stated.

i never modify online, always call and work it out while on the phone.

sorry you lost the better rate.
maybe it will resurface again.

Same as as the two pp. I called to change our rate and they just fixed it in the computer with no refund. Since the original deposit I put down was more than would be needed with my new rate I will actually be paying less when I pay the balance.

It used to be more of an issue than it is now. If you live out of the US and have to deal with exchange rates, it can be a pain when they won't just leave your deposit. Often you would lose money by making modifications if the exchange rate had changed between your original deposit and the refund and new deposit. That happened to us several times.

Then they started saying they could just keep it applied.

As long as your original dates and rates still remain in the computer as available, you should be able to make modifications.

If your original dates and rates are no longer in the computer as available, you will not be able to make modifications. (the computer cancels and rebooks)
