Modified / larger person seat (sitting next to a slimmer person) question

Hi all,

My husband is on the larger size (but has lost weight recently), he's about 300 to 310 pounds, 5'11.

He's hoping to fit in the "general/regular" seats as my kids (who are not in need of larger seats) want to go on all the major rides / coasters (and I don't).

Quick question - if my husband needs a "modified/larger" seat, would he still be able to sit next to one of our kids (who don't need a bigger seat?)

Thanks for any help with this, Marina :lovestruc

your husband will be fine. He can request his own row for Big Thunder Mountain.

For Aerosmith, request rows 11-12, there is more room, as per a friend with similar size as your husband. He will be fine on Guardians because there is no shoulder brace, just a bar across the waist as is space mountain (use seat 1 or 4 in the six seat rocket for extra leg room). FYI....when entering a boat ride, instead of saying Party of 4, split and do 2 Parties of 2. This will give him more room on Epcot Land, Frozen, MK Pirates, Small World, AK Avatar's River Ride.

Here is a very detailed article on the Universal rides and seats. There are test seats for many rides that have both the regular and modified seats. The seats for larger people are integrated with the regular seats, for example on forbidden journey it is the 4th seat on the bench. Similar for Hulk, they are scattered throughout the ride so he could be next to your child. (Exception being for rides with only one bar for the whole row, then smaller kids would just have more room to slide around)

Thank you so much, so helpful! How do you know if the seat fits enough for safety, is there a light that will turn a certain color?

Thanks again, Marina:cutie:

Thank you so much! He was able to ride on Big Thunder, Slinky, 7 Dwarfs & Space Mountain (both of those last ones which killed his knees) as well as Everest with our daughter (who is tiny, although he felt the bar did not close down enough for her due to his stomach/middle being larger) , we are hoping he can fit on a lot in Universal!
