Thought I would share my deforsting technique.

I put a towel on the edge of the tub and leaned the fridge from the edge of the tub over and rested it on the back wall of the tub. That way all the water drips into the tub and didnt puddle in the bottom of the fridge. I did this one morning before we left for Blizzard Beach and when we returned to the room at 2pm is was completely defrosted. I wiped it dry with a towel and then with a disinfecting wipe. And packed it in the box.

I would add to be sure that it is very dry before you put it in the box. When I received the fridge the bottom of the box was a little damp and if the box keeps getting wet it wont hold up too well. I tried to reinforce the bottom of the box with my lime green duct tape but I'm sure my DH would have done a better job.

As far as storing the box. It will fit on top of the rack where you hang your clothes. That way it was off the floor and wasnt in danger of being mistaken for trash and didnt take up our valuable floor space. There was still enough room for storage on the rack.

Ok our fridge is missing, Downinmx is just called me, she is trying to pick it up and they cant find it. They did give her the coffee pot, and she has the claim check number but they cant find the fridge, They have one for someone that was supposed to be picked up yesterday and is still there, am wondering if they gave them our fridge? Hoping to straighten this out.

You know, I had a hunch that this might happen As a "founding" swapper, I knew it would be lucky for it to be this good. Let's hope for some pixie dust! As long as Pop gives us the same size/condition fridge, it's fine with me! At least we have the claim number to help us out.

Nope, not yet, waiting to get the claim check number so I can call POP

And no response from Disalways, so I guess she is no longer interested.

The claim ticket that I have is for BOTH packages. I was only issued one claim ticket. And it said "number of pieces" "2".

So if you have the claim number for the coffee pot then you have the claim number for the fridge as well.

My guess would be that POP couldnt find that other fridge and saw that originally ours wasnt scheduled to be picked up until Aug 3rd. So they gave ours to that other person. Then somebody showed up for the Aug 3rd pick up and now POP is scrambling- they handed out the coffee pot package and claimed they "cant find the other package, the fridge".

This is the second year in a row that I have done exactly what I was supposed to do in the swap and the second year in a row that the fridge has gone missing after me. So I must be a fridge jinx....I wont mess anybodys swap up next year, I promise.

What a bummer!!! I can't believe POP lost the fridge!!! I really hope they figure out their mistake and correct it. That way the rest of the swappers get a chance to use the fridge!!

Can whoever is there see if they can find out who picked the one up tht we think they gave out by mistake and check with those Dissers to see what their mname was and maybe it's ther under their name !!

In hopes the fridge is replaced, I will advertise for the days following my use so we can fill those dates. I agree that disalways must not be interested and her dates should be released. Will Pop be responsible for getting an identical replacement?

a82allison suggested on another thread that we have our fridge identified with our name on the fridge. That's a great idea! Is our fridge black? Maybe a sharpie can be used to label a shelf on the inside? If it isn't done yet, I'd be happy to do it when I am there in about 2 weeks. Fran, if you want me to do this, let me know how you want it labeled. Thanks again!

After we get this straightened out I'm going to have someone in our swap put a big sticker or something on our fridge. A big mickey sticker would be good! That way it will be easily identifiable. Our fridge is white...not sure what color yours is.
