Seriously, how much of a difference is there between the Moderates and the Values? Is paying more money actually worth it? I mean assuming it's just me and my boyfriend going?

Having been to POP and POR now there is NO WAY i could go back to value resorts. POR was by far worth the price and more. The beauty of it is describable. If you plan on being at the parks all day and only going to sleep in your room, maybe consider value, even then I know the POR is the only way for me now.

Whether its worth it to upgrade to a moderate is different to each person. For me yes its definately worth it. I gave the values 2 chances and do not like them at all. The values are so loud and I don't just mean in noise, the decor also. I prefer to stay somewhere more relaxing. Some do not care about relaxing at all, they just want to do the parks commando. There are a great many on these boards that love them. It depends what you are looking for.

LOL I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for either.

This is what I think, I go with my boyfriend, we'll need a king bed (no way we can sleep together in a double). But we are both kinda cheap, not in a bad way. We just like to save money here and there so we can spend it on something more worthwhile later. For me though, I loved the Movies. I loved the lay out, the food, the sale stuff I got at the gift shop :smooth: . But I hate having to share a bus, and them icky soap dispensers. The decor didn't bother me there. Now the POP, the decor isn't my fave, in fact the hotel as a whole isn't my fave, but it's got advantages that Movies doesn't have (no icky soap dispensers and it's own bus).

I mean there is no way we can stay at a Moderate without a discount. And since we need a king bed, that's gonna make it cost even more.

I know when I propose the prices to my boyfriend (which won't happen for a while since we aren't going until next year) I can ignore the Values and just present the Moderates, but I do think I need to be able to get them for under $100 (which I have a feeling is going to be rather difficult). But anyways... Keep posting away your thoughts. I would like to see what everyone says.

Ok, for right now I have a few questions for those of you who've stayed at the Mods:

At the Pop when I had my packages delivered to the hotel from the Parks, I had to pick them up in the gift shop, not delivered to my room. Do your packages get delivered to your rooms at the Mods?

Not that I think it will matter to us, but I think I remember reading that all the Mods will have fridges now, is that true?

Of all the Mods, which would you choose and why?

Packages are delivered to your room in the mods.
You can rent a fridge but it's not a standard feature, unless that has VERY recently changed.
And if it were just me and my man...I'd choose Coronado Springs. Love the atmosphere. And their food court is one of the better ones IMHO. A close second would be port orleans. like the boat access to get to downtown disney...a nice ride. atmosphere there is a little romantic.

Check out my CSR website for pics. links and plenty of info on what makes CSR a great moderate.

You get a great main pool area with a 123 ft slide, a sand volleyball area, an arcade at the pool along with one at the main buidling, a bar with great drinks and food stand with awesome nachos, a playground area, a kiddle pool and the largest hot tub of any resort on WDW property. Also CSR has 3 quiet pools, one in each section.

CSR also has a lounge at the main building and a sit down restaurant along with the food court.

Yes, fridges are now in the moderates. As well as coffee makers. That's one of the reasons I switched my reservations to POR from AllStarMovies for June. My dd and I will be there for only two nights but we have loved both our previous stays at POR. We did enjoy ASMusic tho. But if I can get POR for only about $15 more than a value and get a fridge in the deal, then that's where I'm staying!!! We loved the boat to DTD...very relaxing and fun. The main pool at POR is a hoot. We enjoyed that a lot more than the pool at Music. CSR theming does nothing for me, so that wouldn't be an option for us. But many like it a lot. Go on over to allearsnet.com and check out the different photos from each one of the resorts you are thinking of. That might help.

I've stayed at both and love both. CSR and CBR are great as are the Allstars. Like one of the threads above if you want to relax and chill go for the Mods. If your doing the parks and just using for sleeping stick with the Values.

I'm heading to Disney Feb 25 for a pre-trip to my April 7th trip. I'll be staying at the POP both times. Whatever you choose you'll enjoy the Disney atmosphere everywhere.

I've never stayed in a mod but:

Fridges are now supposed to be in every room in all mods and deluxes (this started in late 2004)

As for package delivery, I don't know. At CR (deluxe) in June and Dec, we had to pick up packages from the gift shop.

If we were going to stay at a mod, we would like to try POFQ. Love the food court there LOL!

I'm not exactly sure how much time we'll spend at the hotel. I suppose that depends on how hot it is and how tired we are. This next trip will be very relaxed, sleep in later (no EMH in the morning). We will also have a "day off" which we'll go to DTD and/or the Boardwalk.

But if its hot or we are tired we will definately be going back to the hotel to relax and go for a swim or something.

Oh if they have the EMH at night, we will probably spend time at the parks at night though.. so I'm not too sure. Again all your input is being very helpful. You are definately helping me think of somethings I haven't thought of.

Do both of the Port Orleans resorts have boats to DTD?

We stayed at POFQ two years ago and absolutely loved it. We are staying longer this time and money is a little tighter so we are booked at POP with a code discount. I called a few days ago to check and I can move up to POR but it will cost me about $150 more. I figure I would rather have that extra money for fun stuff and souveniers rather than some landscaping we will see as we rush to the parks. Really, we only spend time at the room to change clothes and sleep. And when you turn out the lights, the value and the deluxe rooms all look the same.

I hear that argument, but in my case it doesn't work out that way. If I "save" $150 on my room my staying in a value, I won't go "blowing" that $150 on other stuff. My spending habits on vaction will not be altered by the cost of my room - I'm pretty cheap no matter what.

I'm presently booked in the POP for the end of April, but I'm hoping a code will come out and I can upgrade to a moderate. Although I've never stayed in the values, I can't help thinking I won't like it. But I know I like the mods. But I refuse to pay the rack rate for them, at this point in my life (new house, young daughter, working on another . . .)

This is a lame answer, but only YOU can decide if a moderate is worth the extra money. You know you. Are you going to spend the your in a Value looking around in disgust at the cheapness of the place, or are you going to spend your vacation in a moderate disgusted with yourself because of all the money you wasted by staying there?
