Mod to Deluxe because of 40% off?

Who else, besides me, changed and upgraded to a deluxe because they were able to get 40% off code??

Here are my dates... Sept 22-29th
I went from CBR with dining for a total of about $2300
TO....
AKL savannah view with dining for a total of about $2500!!!

A $200 difference from a moderate to a deluxe! I'm happy!

We did!!!!

We used the BUC code which ended up giving us 40% off a standard room at AKL so we upgraded from POR and it was only $150 more, but well worth it I think! It will be our first stay at AKL and we couldn't be more excited!

It was cheaper to do a Deluxe w/ 40% off than POFQ with free dining!! I was SO glad to get that postcard in the mail!!!!

Dining will cost us $935.76 for 8 nights 3 adults
(son will be 11 which makes him have to purchase adult dining).
I have not received a 40% off discount and
we are staying at POR with no hopes of ever staying
at a Deluxe.
I can't complain--
I'm still Excited because we're going to WDW!!

If I were able to get a deluxe resort from just $200.00 more, I would definitely jump at the chance. Not trying to rain on your parade but did you check out the post about construction at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I think it was posted yesterday. She gave some very detailed information about which views were blocked and where the noise was worse due to the construction.

Well I'm not going until the last week of September so I have months until I arrive. Hopefully there won't be any construction there at that time, but oh well if there is...I'm just excited to be staying somewhere new

We also upgraded. We'll be staying at Poly! The rate we got w/ 40% code was around $222 per night!

We were able to upgrade from a standard room at CBR to the WL. We booked the bunkbed room with a courtyard view for $300 extra. That's with two adults and two kids.

We don't have a trip booked, nor had we received a 40% code . But if we did and we had, we definitely WOULD HAVE upgraded ! In fact, if we had received a code, we would have booked. Period.

We are probably going to upgrade from moderate to deluxe b/c we have AP's and the last time we flew we got a buy one get one free deal from Spirit Air, so this leaves only the accomodations to pay for...and our food. Still a toss up of which resort...previous ones have been POLY and WL and Yacht Club (for deluxes) and Port Orleans, Carribean, and POP. So we are looking at AK , Beach Club, or.... I won't hold my breath... but the GF....!!!! Always wanted to stay there, now MAY be the time??? With only having to pay for accomodations??? What do you think?

Well I'm not going until the last week of September so I have months until I arrive. Hopefully there won't be any construction there at that time, but oh well if there is...I'm just excited to be staying somewhere new

The construction is for the AKV, which will be opening in phases. Some of the units aren't even available until 2009. There will be construction going on for quite some time. Disney usually does a good job of minimizing the impact on current guests, but construction is construction, IMO.

Well, next week, my reservation (before I got into the hotel I wanted) was costing me $250 more PER NIGHT for a Deluxe over a Mod.

that depends on how you look at it. A standard room value season at akl with a 40% savings would be - 145/night. A standard room rack rate at pofq would be 163. So yes if you went with a standard room at akl or wl your package price would be $18 per night cheaper. But will you spend more than $18/day for your family to eat compared to what is covered with ddp? if so then akl/wl would still be more. Anything else would have a higher rack rate and therefor while the 40% off nets a greater savings, the per night price will still be higher.

it was a code some people got mailed to them, we dont know how disney picks who they send these pins and codes to. certain people that got them could book cetain rooms at certain times at 40% off up until march 15. some people like me that didnt have a pin ut saw the code on these boards were lucky enough to get a Cm to give them the discount anyway

We did from POR to BWI. 4 people, 9 nights...whole trip with tix, ddp, and insurance for ~4k.
