We are leaving out of Charlotte (CLT) to MCO. My mom just found out that she is going to have double knee replacement a week after we return from our trip. Although she can walk some, I'm concerned about her being able to get around the length of the airports. I looked on the websites and can't really locate any information. Do the airports offer wheelchairs?

She will be fine. The airport will be very kind. Tell Mom not to worry.

I agree to contact the airline. They will advise you of what to do.

Enjoy your trip! :goodvibes

Check your airline's web site. Especially call up the reservation where there should be a place for special needs.

You can get a wheelchair from the airport entrance all the way to the plane's door. And they will have someone with a wheelchair to meet you at the plane's door at arrival. Note that the airlines do not charge for this service, but be ready to give the pusher a $5 to $10 tip.

I always tell the airline I need a wheel chair but we don't need a pusher my wife would rather push me at her pace we had a pusher once that was a fast walker my wife couldn't keep up I kept asking him to slow down but he didn't I finally put the breaks on and told him he was no longer needed.
The airlines are great never a problem getting a chair

As the other posters mentioned, you would contact your airline and let them know that you need wheelchair assistance at your departure and destination.
Usually, the flight attendant will verify with you during the flight that you need a wheelchair when you arrive. Flight attendants will also communicate with the gate agent at the arrival gate to make sure it is there waiting for you.
The skycap will push the wheelchair wherever you need to go - this includes places like baggage claim, car rental, the Disney's Magicl Express area - even drive you to a bathroom and wait or you outside.
Depending on the airport, they may have push wheelchairs or an electric cart - sort of like a golf cart.

Thank you for mentioning you did not find this information - I do have air travel information in the last post of page 1 of the disABILITIES FAQs thread, but that is one piece I missed. I

I will add it.

Hi Sue from a fellow Minnesotan. What is an appropriate tip for the person driving the electric cart?
