mobile phone companys(sorry rant)

Why oh why oh why can't mobile phone companys look after their customers better? i have just finished my contract with one network and gone onto their pay as you go tariff, but the best offer i have seen for next year on the phone i want is on this same network through the carphone warehouse, but to get this offer i have to change my number, i have had this same number for over 10 years and really don't want to do this!

Why do you have to change networks each year to get a good deal? Why can't renewing customers get the same deals as new ones??

i can keep my number if i change networks but the deal i want is on the network i am currently on, and they won't swap a pay as you go number to a contract number if i want to get the deal through the carphone warehouse!! this is whats so frustrating!!
