I thought I understood mobile ordering but when I was DW last year I selected a time, example 1pm-2pm. Put in my order, then the app would say…let us know even you arrive. So I thought we were reserving that entire time. And they wouldn’t prepare the food until we got there. So I did it in a ride line and then about 5 minutes later I received a message saying my order was ready. So we had cold food.
That happened twice before I gave up.

So if we select food from 1:20-1:50 do we have to be there at 1:20 and possibly wait until 1:50? At DL do they want to cook it until I’m there?

Not sure what happened at WDW, in Oct when I was there it was the same as at DL - you select your arrival window, and once that time comes you will get a reminder in the app. You then click “I am here, prepare my order” - they then will prepare your order on demand. If the parks are very busy it can take a little bit of time, but even then I never click “I am here, prepare” unless i am ready to receive it asap. Perhaps you accidentally selected an immediate return window?

Like chezcurrie said, they will prepare the food when you say you are there. If you clicked the “I am here, prepare my order” button then it means you are there and ready to receive it or at least on your way there.

Ah, ok this is what I think happened to OP. So to reiterate for OP, don’t click “I am here, prepare” until you are physically at the restaurant ready to receive your food.

In your example if you have reserved 1:20-1:50 that is your window of time to arrive at the restaurant. It could be 1:20 or 1:30 or 1:49 - It doesn’t matter when in that window you arrive. But once you are *at* the restaurant (and only once you are there) click “I am here, prepare my order.” You then wait a few minutes for the app to give you your order number and pick up window number.
