MNSSHP-not dress up?

I never dress up in costume. I do wear a t-shirt that is in the Halloween spirit or a Halloween color with my Halloween pins. I carry a Halloween bag. You won't feel out of place if you don't dress up. My parents just wore regular clothes when they took the grand kids.

No, there may be more people not in costume than in costume. You'll be fine either way.

My 7yos and I attended on a sold out night last Oct. I saw more adults not in costume (including myself) than in costume by far.

The time I went, I had planned on buying a Halloween t-shirt there to wear. Turned out I didn't like any of them, so went to the party in plain clothes. My DD and her friend both dressed up. I didn't feel out of place at all, but still wished I'd packed a T-shirt that was more festive.

No, you won't feel out of place at all. There will be people there in various ranges from full costume, to just a halloween hat/shirt, to normal park attire.

The adults in our party usually try to wear a tshirt or something that is Halloween-ish. But sometimes the weather doesn't fit what we have brought with. There are way more adults in regular clothes than in costume.

We do MNSSHP every year, DD dresses up but I can't be bothered, and I've never felt out of place because of that.

Nope! We only dressed up once for all of the MNSSHP we've attended. During the other parties, I just have my Halloween Minnie Ears but DH doesn't dress up. You'll find a lot of others (especially adults) won't be dressed up either.

Not at all. We don't dress up, nor do many of those attending.

We've been to it 4, maybe 5 times I think.

The first few times we seriously dressed up, but the oppressive heat and crowds kind of did us in. I can't say I recommend wearing really serious costumes in Florida in September/October, even at night, unless you are doing a character that intentionally is not covered much (i.e. Tink or similar).

The last time we just wore Disney Halloween tshirts from various prior years, and had a much easier time of it. I did buy one of the little Nightmare Before Christmas headbands, looks like a little striped top hat with a silver spider and some feather fluff, and wore that too.

The vast majority of the people there will just be wearing whatever normal clothes, though. My estimate is that perhaps 10-15 percent of the adults actually wear a real full-on costume. (My hat's off to the ladies who go full Maleficent - only their faces and hands are uncovered, that has to be SO HOT to wear!)

And then perhaps another 10-15 percent are doing what amounts to DisneyBound, where they just pick colored clothes similar to a character and add face paint or whatever.

If you do the DisneyBound type thing, you can at least stick to shorts and tshirts and not be so smothered by costuming.

we didn't dress up a 2 years ago (mainly because we didn't know much about MNSCHP) and we didn't feel out of place at all. we still thoroughly enjoyed it, it is Disney after all. there are loads of people who didn't dress up, MNSCHP is just awesome whether you dress up or not. the down side of course to dressing up is space. i come from the UK and space is a precious thing, though over the years, i have learned to pack less which allows me to pack a costume.

due to the warm weather even at night, i try and aim for costume thats not too heavy or thick. i've gone a belle with a netted dress and i've also been as a pirate in a thin Lycra dress. i think this year i might be going as Silvermist with a knee length blue dress.

The closer to the actual Halloween holiday, the more people you will see dressed up in costumes. Most children will be in costumes, and the percentage of adults vary depending on weather and how close to Halloween. I always dress up and have a blast. Last year my husband and I wore costumes from 'A League of their own' (I was a Rockford Peach and he was Jimmy Dugan) and we got amazing reactions. Like just walking through the parking lot people on the trams would scream "There's no crying in baseball!!" If you like to dress up and have fun, do it! It's one of the few times you can do that sort of thing as an adult. But if you're worried about feeling hot or foolish, just don't dress up and you will be just fine. Plenty of people in regular clothes at the parties.

My family of 4 went to MNSSHP last yr, 4 days before Halloween, and we did not dress up. We had brainstormed lots of fun family dress-up ideas, but in the end I ran out of time and energy. My kids wore black t-shirts w a few Disney characters on them & DH and I wore jeans and plain shirts. I was worried the kids would feel bad about not dressing up, but they never said a word...and neither did anyone else. Go in what makes you and your son most comfortable!

I have been doing the Halloween parties for many years (2x each trip) with my DS (30 with special needs) and he loves to dress up for it! In real life he doesn't get invited to parties, certainly not Halloween ones. I understand the packing space and I am totally about staying cool and comfortable. We always see LOTS of adults dressed up and some groups like us are only adults. I can't imagine going and not being decorated in some way.

I go to Walmart Men's department and get their cotton drawstring "gym" shorts matched with a "tshirt" to come up with a creative character. The shorts are around $5. Plain tshirts the same. Our Bones costumes I painted with fabric paint. (My DH and DD also have this because they came a couple times) for the other I bought the grey shorts, shredded the bottom, the striped tshirt and added the patch with a scrap of fabric and fabric paint. I was Smee 1 Both inexpensive, easy to make - cool, comfortable - and take less room than any other shorts/tops in suitcase. I picked up some fun color shirts this year and trying to come up with a new idea for us.

PS We gets lots of positive attention from the CMs & characters and he loves it!
