We will be going to our very first MNSSHP on October 31st and wonder where is the best spot to watch the parade from, to get a good view of the headless horseman? DD is horse-mad so we wouldn't want to miss him.

Thanks :thumbsup2

We did MNSHHP last friday. And it was so much fun!!!!!!!
We watched the parade from in front of the castle. They had a villians show there on the stage in front of the castle before the parade so we got a spot and watched them both from the same place.

I read that if you sit in front of the Hall of Presidents that an old grounds keeper with his dog will tell you a story about the headless horseman before he rides. Is this true and how long before the parade does this happen?

DD is a CM, and last year she had us sit in Liberty Square for the MNSSHP Parade....so I would imagine that would be your best viewing area! Have a great time!

The parade route is dark in most areas; if you want pictures or video to turn out, I highly recommend standing near a well-lit area. Last year we saw the parade twice as our first round of pictures were so dark you could barely see the characters...moved near a light, and everything was better.

I've watched it on Main Street and also near Country Bear Jamboree and Country Bear Jamboree area was by far the best for taking photos and videotapping.

The lighting is much better there for some reason.

We sat in front of the Main Street Ice Shop the last time we were there, and DH got some great video of the headless horseman. It's also a great spot to watch the parade.

I would love to see this! Has anyone seen it?

we sat in frontierland right by country bear jamboree and it was the best. perfect view of the headless horseman and the whole parade

I know he holds the pumpkin in his right hand so keep that in mind on choosing your side of the street. The best shots of the horseman that I've seen were all taken from the right side...If you were walking the parade route direction and went to the right side of the street.

I've also heard near some good light as others mentioned.

We always sit on the benches in front of the Trading Post . When the parade starts,we stand on the benches and have a perfect view!

ANother vote for Frontierland! We also sat infront of the Trading Post store and we had a great view of the parade. Perfect spot for seeing the headless horseman as the parade starts from down next to Splash Mountain. We were sitting there waiting for the headless horseman.. and here he comes.. Im waiting until he was closer to get a great shot. then some IDIOT ( sorry, but he was!!) runs across the street to our side, and stands there on the wrong side of the rope and IN MY WAY!!!! ugh!! Everyone was yelling at him, and he stood there. When he finally did duck under the rope, I had missed my shot of the Headless Horseman because he was in my way. GRRRRRRRR :furious: lUCKILY MY friend with me got a picture. She had to follow him until he was right in front of her, but at least we got a picture. Why are people so stupid at Disney???

Thanks guys, that's really great info. :thumbsup2

Would love more info on the man with the dog if anybody know's what time he's there and where exactly he is?

Thanks

The man that comes out tells a story about Ichobod Crane(sp) and the headless horseman. He comes out before the headless horseman and stands on the corner where all the big oak trees are kinda across from the hall of presidents. He's never had a dog with him that I can recall. He is one of our favorite parts of MNSSHP we generally will watch both parades there so we can hear him tell his story.
HTH,

Nelle - thanks so much for the info, if we stand near the trees is it quite dark? It's just that I would like to video the parade. Thanks.

HTH,

Thanks for the info. Now I know for sure that will be in front of the hall.

The headless horseman stops right infront of the VIP section between the christmas store and the castle. He pauses there for about 60 seconds. It was a great spot to see him!!!

confused, does the parade start @ firehouse/near front of park or in frontierland? Seems as though they switch off...is there a pattern?

last time for spectro, we sat on boxes infront of trading post...pretty good spot but, they had the walkway open in front of us & people kept getting in my pics.

sat on the curb in front of GS/bathroom area too. Okay, but hard to snap a pic since they were coming from the firehouse door.

Last year we watched Hallowishes from the hub and then walked over to Main St. to watch the parade and that worked out well.

It starts from Frontierland. I believe it switched directions last year after they had train station construction walls up last year. Maybe due to the training of the horse (headless horseman horse) they kept it in this direction.
