We went to our first MNSSHP on 9/15. The parade and the fireworks were awesome! I loved the music played that night!!! :thumbsup2 We arrived around 7:00. As we walked down Main Street, the CMs were doing a good job of keeping orange bands to the right. We passed by several "checkpoints" where we had to hold up our wrists. Lines for the rides were pretty short. We foolishly did not listen to the advice about avoiding the candy lines. I kept wondering why we had paid $160 to stand in line for candy. I'd say we wasted about 45 minutes in candy lines....not that much really, but it was still time wasted for no reason. About 11:50 a CM took our bags and put inside a barrel and filled them up. We came home with over 9 pounds of candy (yes, we weighed it). We probably ate 2 lbs while still on the trip. We were never offered a free photo, but instead a photopass for 1/2 off a 5x7. I had a plan for the evening which did not include a thunderstorm! When the downpour began, we headed to the closest restaurant which happened to be Cosmic Rays. (We planned to eat at Peco's Bills...yeah, we made it real far!) Things happen for a reason, and it turned out just fantastic because the kidlets got to dance with characters at Stitch's Cosmic Dance Party. Let's see....the headless horseman rode the parade route about 10 minutes before the parade. I didn't get to see him up close because I was fighting with my dang camera. More CM's came by with candy. Because of the rain, the Villain show was cancelled, but they did come out for autographs. I'm sure I have missed some important details. :confused3

Tips:
1. Don't waste time in lines for candy.
2. Take advantage of the things that aren't there on a regular basis.
3. Enjoy all of the sites and sounds of the evening.

Thanks for the report! Glad you had a great time. We are doing our first MNSSHP in late October. I can hardly wait

So your 2nd hint is to take advantage of the things that aren't normally there. Can you elaborate and give advice as to which things aren't normally there. This is our first MNSSHP and even though we will have grandsons that want to get candy, what special things can we do?

The dance party turned out to be a lot of fun. Take time to see the villains and get photos if the little ones won't be frightened by them. We also got a picture with Cinderella's carriage. I have never seen this before, so I'm assuming it's just for the party. Anyone know? Stop, enjoy, take photos of the giant inflatables. There was a spider on the side of the noodle terrace ( I think that is where it was), Simba near POC, and others throughout the park.

Is the only way to get the candy is stand in the lines? Seems like I read on this board they gave out candy during the parade, and when you leave the park, wonder if they give out candy when you leave it is at 12:00 I don't know if I will last til the clock strikes 12?

My DD got plenty of candy from the CMs while waiting for the parade. We didn't waste any time standing in the candy lines. My DD also loved the kids dance parties so we are planning to do lots of dancing again this year.

Just a tip for those who have never been.... after dealing with a MNSSHP during the rain, it really does affect how much candy you get and how the whole park works. Half of the candy stations were closed last year when I went because they would have been out in the rain, unprotected. It can really make your night miserable if you don't have a "incase of rain plan" and a good sense of humor and lots of flexibility.

I don't know about the candy distribution before park closing. It was about 12:30 when were exiting and they were opening cases of Snickers and just dumping them into everyone's bag.

Another question:
Does someone have a list of the party dates? Or a link to a thread that has the dates listed?

Wow... I better be there!!! CANDY :woohoo:

We left around 11:00 and on the way out, they dumped tons of snickers into our bags....

By the way, we brought our own Halloween bags, which were cloth and MUCH bigger than the ones they gave out, we made a Haul !! :teeth:
