MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

Thanks for saving the purses for me Kate!! So many purses, so little time! I may end up getting 2. One at Ross and one at Boscov's. Boscov's has really nice ones that aren't too costly. Oh, what to do LOL:confused3

Get TWO! That is what you do!

With that "diet" she would fade away to nothing!!! Maybe we should all try it!

Jocelyn, not only would we all lose weight, eating just olives, birdseed, seaweed, sardines and green tea would be a really healthy diet! I don't think I want to try it though! :rotfl:

Barb - I was thinking the same thing!! Get TWO!! I guess us Met B's think in excess!!:thumbsup2

Kathy - OK, Pony is horrified once again...TRACHEA? OMG!!! I know its good for dogs to eat raw, but I would have to draw the line there!!:scared1:

Abbie - I also used to make quesadillas with a low carb wrap...warm in a pan just to brown the bottom a bit, then toss in some low fat cheese, a little chicken, onions and peppers, let it melt a bit and then fold over...yummy! You can vary this too with different veggies...another way to get them in!

Ok, I'm back. I bought eggs and lots of things at the store. I'm eating nuts now. I don't want to eat too many! They can be a weakness for me. I found those sandwich thins, and had a sandwich when I got home. Wow, they are good! And perfect carbs for step two. :woohoo:

hello,

Just posting here to say good evening. Had the day off work, so thought I would post and tell you Malzer has the strep and the baby too. I know she posts here often. But she will be here soon, I am sure. Hope everyone had a good MM Day! My husband and I just had egg sandwich on Italian Herb flat bread, for dinner.:yay: We are looking forward to Step 2.
Pony--I read where you eat 2 atkins bars. What are those, please. Trying to get my ideas for the next step. Thanks

Honeygram

Thank you for the grand welcome! ...and thanks for all the suggestions. I will definitely use them!!! Keep 'em coming if you think of anymore. I'm going to try making the Silver Dollar Pancakes tomorrow morning and if I get to it tonight I want to make the Chocolate Muffins. CAN'T WAIT!!!:woohoo: Have a good evening, ladies. I'm off to make dinner.

I went to LCF to check on a recipe this AM and the first post was about Tom dying. He is the owner of Netrition and LCF. He was only 49. I know a lot of you have issues with the site, but since he owned both, I guess he could block what he wanted. I have used the site for a long time and would not have found MM if I had not been perusing it a couple of months ago.

Laura – they do make them covered in the 70% dark chocolate!!! I was going to buy a box and then decided not to. Hubby doesn’t like dark chocolate AT ALL and I didn’t want to be responsible for eating all of them. They were a bit pricey, too – even at Costco.

Sherry – do they do water aerobics? I finally got to a class yesterday and it really was a workout. I discovered there are some things I can improve on when I do it on my own. It was really great. It is about an hour drive from home, so will not go often, but will once in a while. The gal doing it gave me some extra pointers about how to do some more things for my back. She was great.

Robin – I used a trainer for several years and he would have me ride a stationary bike like mad between exercises and then you are not using your ankles.

Cindy – sending prayers for your mother.

Robin -I don’t think I could have made a chocolate cake and frosting and not sampled!!!

Welcome Abbie – It looks like you got lots of snack suggestions

Lisa - Have fun in Vacaville – I used to go through there all the time. I went to school at UC Davis and lived in Santa Rosa. Did you live in CA when the Nut Tree was there? Happy Birthday to your Mom.

I am now caught up on the last 2 day of postings. As I said earlier, I went to the new 24 Hour Fitness and the water aerobics class yesterday - it was great. The schedule changed from the one I had and there is a Zumba Gold class right after the swimming class. I watched it for a bit and think I could do it with my brace on. They have so much new, neat equipment there that I will probably venture back next week and try the class. They had one at the 24HF I go to close to home, but apparently didn’t have enough people so cancelled it.

I made a breakfast casserole – ham, turkey bacon, cheese, spinach and broccoli and eggs so we can just heat it up for a couple of days and another casserole out of Alfredo sauce, mushrooms, broccoli, chicken and the Miracle Noodles. It came out quite well, too so we will have the rest of that tonight with a salad.

Nell – I hate it when the power goes out. We actually have a problem with that where we are and then the elevator does not work!!! We have a LOT of stairs to climb to go anywhere not to mention the fact the computers don’t work!!! The winds last night were howling and we wondered if we would lose power as our lines are not underground in the area we live in. We had quite a lightening storm out over the ocean that was fun to watch, though.

People were talking about red pepper jam – so I made a small batch yesterday with Splenda. It is yummy. I am going to use it on my 0 carb Swiss cheese crackers with cream cheese for an appetizer. You should be able to use one of the other sweeteners, though.

Kate – so sorry to hear you have been down. I was wondering where you were. You sound happier now that when you started posting yesterday. Once we start eating sugary carbs again, they keep calling to us. It is like having the devil sitting on our shoulder. One friend says it is the “little child” in us that wants instant gratification and so we give in to the little child.

I have now been posting for 8 weeks and have had the book for about 7 weeks. From the middle of June until the middle of September I lost 20+ pounds following a low carb plan that we considered healthy. I started my swimming and water exercises the middle of August. I am now wearing clothes that I have not worn in quite a while which is great. However, I have not really lost any weight in the past 2 months and I am not sure if my size has really gone down, either. I have lost inches in my legs and arms that are noticeable – but the swimming and gym have played a part in that, I think.

I am not sure what I am going to do now. I know I am eating a lot more carbs that I was before because cottage cheese, splenda, nuts, etc have quite a few carbs. I thought how great to have them as “freebies” as long as I didn’t overeat them. I’m not sure I am eating any more veggies than before as we have always liked veggies and big salads. Most of the time dinner is a big salad with a protein. I am not sure I can make myself start adding in more carbs. I know Diane’s theory and have read and re-read the book. I am also eating about all the food I can handle at one time. I do like following the time schedule and do eat a bit when I get up and before I go to bed. That cannot hurt me!!! I don’t eat in the middle of the night and I used to wake up hungry in the middle of the night!!!

I used frozen strawberries for a treat and am going to go back to them as they are one of the lowest carbs fruits around.

I do know that Diane has said pain has to be managed and that is something the doctors have not been able to do for me. Believe me, we have tried.

I’m sure there have been enough “cheats” that I would not have started step 2 now anyhow and was planning on waiting until the end of the month. I will evaluate what I am going to do at that time.

I love connecting with all of you and would still like to even if I don’t go on to become a 2 stepper!!!

Big hugs to everyone else I haven’t mentioned

Sorry for rambling on for so long. Time to go make something for lunch!!!

Love to all:love:

Hi Jocelyn - thanks for the idea of using the bike as an "interval" option! So glad you are enjoying your 24 hour gym and pool...remember that with all the exercise, you are going to be heavier, weight wise, as muscle weighs more than all our fluffy fat! I would definitely go by your inches lost and the way your clothes are fitting...forget the scale!! It sounds like you are doing great. I agree with your concern about step 2...adding in the carbs is definitely a trial, but you HAVE to move on, as Diane reminds me all the time, step 1 is NOT healthy long term...you were talking about eating strawberries...I assume that was when you were eating low carb, not on MM? Maybe I misunderstood, but it sounds like you are going to just do your own thing and not stay on step 1 or MM? None of my business, but it sounds like you are doing fine! Stay with the plan! Obviously you can stay here and talk with us no matter what you decide...we love you!!!

Thats too bad about Tom, the owner at LCF...will be praying for peace for his family.

um, dumb Pony question for the day...if I have to go dairy free for 2 weeks, what will I use in my scrambled eggs (they are yukky with just water) and in my decaf?? I doubt we can use the powdered creamers...and I never have used them, so imagine they must be full of chemicals and other carbs?

Can you tell I am BORED again here at work? LOL too much free time and my mind wanders off on its own!

Okay, Robin. Did you hear that? Cow trachea! I am laughing Kathy! I bet Tyson loved it and I know Halle would too! Has Tyson been wearing his shoes?

We didn't buy them. I will probably kick myself once winter arrives, but he takes forever walking as it is. Stopping and sniffing at everything, plus people petting him. I figure our hour walk will turn into at least a 3 hour walk with the shoes LOL

Kathy - OK, Pony is horrified once again...TRACHEA? OMG!!! I know its good for dogs to eat raw, but I would have to draw the line there!!:scared1:

I have no problem with Tyson eating raw, but no way would you get me to eat any type of raw anything. Well, maybe eggs in egg nog, but that's about it. No seaweed, algae, or the like. I may consider bean sprouts though LOL

Don't know how it would taste, but what about those little creamers in the little cups? They are non-dairy. May work. I don't know if they make them in bigger containers or not.
Check out the refrigerator part in walmart. There may be something there, or even in the shelves. Non dairy won't need to be cold. There is always almond milk, soy, or rice milk if you can have it. Sorry I don't have better suggestions.

Hi Pony. If you can find it, try soy cream. It would be great in eggs. If not that, then soy milk, which is easier to find.

Thanks Barb and Kathy - I try to stay away from soy, but forgot about almond milk, or maybe other non-dairy options!!

hopefully the gluten free or dairy free wont make a difference...I really hate to have to give either of them up...I had another co-worker today tell me I was going to need to ask Santa for some new clothes since my turtleneck I was wearing today could fit the both of us in it! So maybe I am just being blind and sticking to my old clothes when I might actually fit into something smaller!! I f I ever get out of bed on sunday after my saturday work marathon maybe I will get brave and drag out some new old clothes and see if my fluff will fit into them...Im such a baby, I dont want to try and not be able to zip them up!! I need the Fluff Fairy to take some fluff away!!:wizard:

Hi Honeygram - please tell Melanie we hope she is feeling better soon...there seems to be alot of strep going around our offices lately too.

Abbie - please report back on those pancakes...I never did try them on step one, and dont remember if anyone else did either! I know the reviews on the chocolate muffin was mixed...some said yeah and some said not so much...you might want to check our recipe thread too...not sure, but I believe there are some step one recipes there that we have all tried and enjoyed...

I LOVE my supervisor!! she is letting me go home 45 minutes early tonight since I have to be here so early in the morning! :cool1: No gym tonite, but I may hop on my Treadclimber at home for 30 minutes now!!

Get thee to those new old clothes! You won't know until you try and it sounds like you're looking kinda shleppy at work. Don't be afraid

Ok, 2 questions here.

1. Can you freeze eggplant? Chunk it up and freeze it?

2. Can you have s/f pudding on step 1? Thinking not, making sure. Could really go for one of those pudding pop things. You know, the frozen pudding on a popsicle stick? Used to love those!!

Hi Kath. I've never frozen eggplant but I have seen frozen foods that contain eggplant so it must be ok..I'm thinking step1 says no milk and most of the prepared sf pudding pops are made with milk. Have you checked the carb count in them?
