MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

Well I WAS going to take a shower and go to church but NO HOT WATER!! OMG, I built this house 3 1/2 years ago and the hot water heater isnt working? WTH!!! Of course try to get a service guy to come out to the boonies on a Sunday afternoon...YEAH RIGHT. I am so ticked off...warmed up some water on the stove to do the dishes!! Guess I will have to make do with a cold water sponge bath and wash my hair in cold water in the sink...NOT A HAPPY PONY right now.

At least I dont have to groom ponies, as it is raining fairly hard and washing all the mud off them!

Lisa - somehow I didnt think that smuckers thing was going to turn out in your favor...but you can always have it with the PB and bread an call it 11-20 I guess!

Kate - crockpots are the bomb!! Might not have any hot water, but at least I will have hot food!

 I guess I can always go take a shower at the gym tonite!!

Yeah, my bread is only 12 so I can, but I hate to waste 6 carbs on a condiment! Send me another hug, Kathy! :guilty:

Robin: Could you go next door to shower? Put your hair up in a twist? I hope you get it sorted out. I hate no water or no blow dryer!

Hi guys!
I just wanted to pop in and say Hi:hippie: took the kids out last night and they had a blast!! Now I have to smell candy for a while :rotfl: but that is ok I didn't want any of it anyways! :yay: couldn't believe it!
But we did have the peanut butter pie for desert at dinner! That helped I think! Not much going on here, everyone in our group seems to be at a stand still ( not feeling inches gone) but we will keep on trucking: off to fix some lunch! hope all has a great MM day!!:flower3:

Robin, if it is a gas one, make sure the pilot light is on. It may be something as simple as the elements are going. They are extremely easy to replace. Just have to drain the tank. Check to make sure it's turned up too. Maybe got bumped or something. Never know. Make sure a breaker didn't trip on it somehow too if it's electric. Just some suggestions.
Sorry your morning isn't going so well

Hi Melanie! Glad the kids had fun last night. Isn't it nice there can be candy in the house and we don't eat it all?
Enjoy your lunch and your day. It's really nice here today. A little chilly, but sunny :cloud9:

I AM SO EMBARRASSED! HOW COULD I MISREAD THE LABEL SO MANY TIMES?? I read the sugar grams as fiber instead of sugar! It can work in on Step 2, but OMG, I am losing it! Eyes not as good as they used to be! There is no Splenda, though - no artificial sweetener at all. What a big drag! I'm going to write to Smuckers and ask them why they can't match Polamer. I am mortified; now I need to go to therapy!

SharronLee: Thank you so much for saving me from sinning!!! I ran to the fridge and was confronted with the reality after reading your post.

Lisa - don't beat yourself up. That's what we are all here for, to help each other.

Kathy, I am impressed at your home repair knowledge.:worship:

Lisa - I started drinking green tea last night. It is just the plain Lipton, and it's not too bad as hot tea with some splenda. Now I just need to drink my water too. My throat is a little sore and the tea feels good. I just wish it were decaf.

Lisa, When I saw the label I was afraid you had misread. Since it has Total Carbs of 6g and next line is Sugars 5g. We are so use to seeing Dietary Fiber listed there, it was an easy mistake. I was so hoping you had a new product that was 1 nc. 1/2 TBS would be 3 ng but the bad thing is it still has added sugar.

Sorry :sad1:, but am glad you caught it before you unintentionally messed up.

If Smucker's could work with the Simply Fruit and add fiber they should be able to come up with 1 or 2 nc.

Polaners Fiber Added Concord Grape & Apricot Preserves are the only ones that have a net of 1 carb, the other flavors are net 2 carb. They have 3 grams of fiber added to bring the count down. They do have Splenda but must not be much cause it's not real sweet.

I have found the Polaners at my Wal-Mart and Publix. The Polaner web site has a printable coupon for $1 off the Fiber added, good till 12/29/09.

Unfortunately all those years at Lowes. But it does come in handy at times LOL. Like laying ceramic tile, hardwood floors, painting, putting in windows, doors, the list goes on and on LOL. Jack of all trades, master of none :confused3

Hi! Went back to bed after I realized I was very grumpy.

Ideal sweetener sounds ideal, but I've never seen it in a store here. :) If your not going to use it you can send them and I can check other stores.

Lisa, everyone makes mistakes occasionally! It's ok! I have both the types of Jam's. The smuckers comes in really handy when I'm making a shake and the ingredients don't add up to at least 11 carbs. A teaspoon of strawberry mixed with cocoa comes out mighty tasty!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the reminder to change the clocks!:upsidedow

That's good thinking about the gym Robin! At least you can take a shower over there. Wear flip flops in the shower though so you don't get any funky fungus! And be careful, they get slippery when wet! I hope you get the water at your house fixed shortly!

Oh boy! SharronLee, I must go and get that coupon! Thanks!:woohoo:

I will get them in the mail today.
You really should check out the coupon site. It will tell you where to find coupons online too. ;)

Try some camomile for the throat. It's decaf. Or you can buy Sore Throat Tea. Glad your're doing your green tea! Thanks for picking me up. I hate mistakes, but that sugar was where I'm used to seeing fiber. They want to mess me up!

I so agree with you about the Smuckers - how hard could it be? We should make our own with no sugar; fruit is sweet enough, right? I could stir fiber into mine, but it might be yucky, lol! I'll keep looking for the Polamer. Kate and I can't find it out here. Locarbu didn't have any. The one the do carry does that tricky thing with the sugar alcohols - irritating!

Well, I finally have some time to post. Have read a few pages from the past few days, but can't seem to get caught up, so will jump right in here.

Robin, It's so not fun taking a COLD shower! We encounter this problem constantly as we bought an on-demand water heater a few years ago. We didn't know that you had to buy the expensive brands as the cheaper ones just don't work well. We have all become pros at the cold shower or the assisted hot shower. I boil a large pot of water and take it in the shower with me along with a large cup. I fill the cup up part way with hot water from the pot and then the rest from the faucet. I don't do the whole conditioner thing with this method...just put a few dabs of conditioner on my hand and rub it around the ends of my hair and squeeze out the excess. Needless to say, we are saving to get a new water heater or to pay the exorbitant prices of a plumber who may be able to make this one work better. Good luck with yours!

The Luke Skywalker costume turned out well and was one of the few homemade ones, my daughter said. He sure looked cute! I will post some pictures that my daughter took of him.

I hope everyone has a good Sunday. I love having a day set apart for worship and rest from the worldly things. Since my oldest son is up from UCLA we will get the family together for dinner before he heads back to Los Angeles. That is my most favorite time! Listening to my kids reminisce about childhood events ( some that I didn't even know about, thank goodness! ) and hearing them laugh together is the most wonderful thing! We have also decided to do something different this year at Christmas. We are going to commit to volunteering once a month, as a family, at a homeless day center nearby. Even the son at UCLA said he would try to come up and be a part of this. I'm hoping that this will help the kids put service to others as an important part of their lives and know the joy that comes from doing it. We'll see.

Love to you all,
Carol
step 2

Feast upon the words of Christ

PS Just read the posts on jam and jelly. I posted a recipe for pear butter and it has only 2.3 grams per TB. If you added some fiber, it would be less. It was very easy to make and would freeze well.

Does anyone know what this plant (wildflower or weed) is? Couldn't figure out how to put in a photo, so just made it my avatar.

Have a feeling I should know but just can't remember and haven't been able to find it on any of my garden sites. Got a feeling I'm going to feel very foolish when I do hear the name.

It popped up in my flower bed about a month ago, seeds must have been left by a bird.

The flowers are beautiful but looks like it could be rather invasive and some grew about 3 ft tall. DH pulled most of them up before I got a good pic of the larger ones. The one time he decides to pull weeds!

I've looked all over our property and my flower bed is the only place I've found them.

Carol: I need to make that pear butter. I just bought a new Cusinart. I had my other one for over 25 years. Made all my own baby food with it. Very easy. I love your volunteering idea. Has the family seen the movie The Soloist? It was so impactful, with a lot of non-actor footage of homeless people in LA. Have a wonderful Sunday. We're just back from a delicious walk. It's a gorgeous day!

Afternoon Carol. That sounds like a great idea for Christmas!
I can't imagine showering like that. I remember once our elements went in the hot water tank, and we had to bath and heat the water on the stove. Wasn't fun especially with a child.

Hi Sharron. Sorry, don't know about the plant. Lowe's didn't teach me that LOL. I only watered the plants once in a while.

I hope you both have a great day!!
