MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

Hmmmmmm. I love pudding. I am curious about adding the sf vanilla pudding mix to the fruit salad? What does it do?

Good luck with the Halloween costume. I always loved Halloween with my girls. The is the first year that we haven't had a carve pumpkin/bake Halloween cookies party....

I love Craigslist too. My younger DD, the one that left for college in August, has a huge dorm room (if you can believe that). She needed some kind of big rug for the room. She saw one on Craigslist that she liked but it was $250 so she didn't even respond to the ad. A couple of weeks later she saw it again but the price had dropped to $75. She called the lady and said she was a poor college student and all she could afford was $50. The lady agreed. Then Chloe told her she didn't have a car or anyway to pick it up. The lady was nice enough to have her 21 year old son deliver it. Chloe and her roommate ended up spending the afternoon with the lady's son.....

What a great story! We got John-Paul a like-new futon for his office room from an architect and his wife in Portland. The guy took it apart for us, wrapped it up and helped us put it in the SUV! I was so proud of myself that I helped J-P put it together again! We love Craigslist.

Perfect. They are 12 net carbs (22g carbs and 10g fiber). Makes it much easier for breakfast.

I have a headache today probably cause I was up 3 times with my little man and got up extra early. I hate taken meds, but I think I will take 2 advil this am.

Have a great day Robin!!!

Hope he's not sick today? Maybe you can take a nap after the door guy leaves??

It was nice catching up with everyone this morning. It has been hectic at my office again. One of my clients was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2003 and it has spread to her brain - she had surgery about a year ago on a brain tumor - her quality of life has really diminished. Last week her soon-to-be ex-husband was diagnosed with cancer - he has tumors through out his entire body. They have been together since my client was 15 years old (she is 54 now). It just seems like it has to be environmental? I feel so bad for them. They have a 24 year old son. He just got married. My client's situation is going to get a lot worse since her husband can't work anymore. She has been barely making it financially and now he can't pay her any support. Her mother does live in the area so at least I know she will have somewhere to live.

How frightening! These people have our life story - same ages, teenage love, same age child. At least they know their son is doing well on his own now. That must be some comfort.

I would love a new double one so we can bring in the Christmas tree without scratching anything, but as you say, it involves construction. It will make a big difference in Cindy's house, won't it? I can't believe how much difference it made to just get new coach lights.

And by the way, your coach light looks beautiful!

He was only here to meaure. Left around 7:20. I don't think he's sick, but he may be coming down with something. Weird. He's a little sniffily (is that a word), today, but running around like a loon.

I can't take naps. Wish I could.

Just a quick Hi before I head off to work....have heard from Tom, and he says Hello! He will be honeymooning in San Antonio next week and promises to check in with us soon. His Rebecca is following MM too, so hopes to introduce her to us here as well! I told him we would be anxiously waiting to meet his bride!

Kate - will be praying for your client, it sounds like a horrible nightmare.

I have decided that my Halloween splurge will be NOT working another 12 hours day! I am going to work the normal 8, then maybe see if I can scare someone at the gym by wearing shorts and a t-shirt instead of my usual sweatpants and sweatshirt!!:lmao: I know it will scare ME to look in the mirror!! And even worse, the entire PLACE is mirrors!! Now THAT is a Halloween Nightmare!!:scared1:

Have a great day all, will check in later on!:grouphug:

This kind of situation really reminds us to count our blessings, doesn't it.

Barb – I have a recipe for cinnamon nuts that I have used before, but not recently. I’ll try it again and see if it is worth sharing. I think it came out better than the one in the book, but am not sure.

CHILI – I use one can of black soy beans for each pound of meat. I used one smaller sized can of crushed tomatoes, chopped up onion and a bag of frozen peppers. You probably have access to fresh ones and I would use those. I also put a big spoonful of crushed garlic in and then add lots of chili powder. I then simmer it in the crock pot all day. I brown the meat and onion together before putting it in the crock pot. Taste test to see if it spicy enough for you – go slowly on the chili if you do not like spicy. It takes a while for the beans to get the flavor in them.

Barb – what weight did you start at? I can’t remember from the old thread. (I guess I could go check!!) If I was depending on a number I would have given this up a long time ago as there is basically no change for me.
You are doing really well – KUTGW

Jocelyn, Thank you for the chili recipe. That would be great if you find the candied nuts recipe. My weight started at 239.5 and I'm at 214.5 now. My goal is 190. At 6' tall, for some reason I look and feel good at that weight so I'm about half way to goal. I'm not in a big hurry and the inches lost are good, so I'm happy. :)

I guess we need to come up with a name for the 3rd brother. Kind of like the old Newhart show, I'm Jake, this is my brother Elwood, this is my other brother Elwood.

I hate to seem like a pest to Diane. This is the first time I e-mailed her. I think I will wait until the end of the day. If she hasn't replied by then, I'll send another one.

I laughed AGAIN. I used to love that on the Newhart show. This is my brother Darrell and my other brother Darrell!

Diane loves MM Pests!

Pony so sorry to hear that you didn't get your phone call, hopefully you will in the morning.

But on a different note:rolleyes1 I e-amiled Diane with my question and she said that the deli chicken was fine and it is a neutral food,:thumbsup2 so that is great for us :yay::yay: So if anyone else has that question then you know the answer! I am so glad that we don't have to start over on step 1 for 8 more wks :rotfl2:

This chicken meat is nice because it is not slimy like some of the others that I have tasted, and is handy to grab in the middle of the night as a snack and go back to bed!:rotfl: That is the reason I think that we all liked it so much!

I am so proud of myself I did a 20 min workout (zumba tape, and made it all the way to the end!:dancer: Then I did some more bends and lunges to take up the other 10 min.!!:ccat:

I don't think that I have excel on my computer. Not sure but don't think honeygram does either.

Have a nice night have to goto bed now!
Melanie:goofy:

Melanie, thanks for sharing the info from Diane. Now we all just have to remember it when it comes up again

Good job on the workout!

DD - isn't sure. She's borrowing one of her friend's outfits. She was Alice in Wonderland last year
DS1 - Scary dude dressed in black
DS2 - bunch of grapes (we're putting a garbage bag and balloons all over him.
DS3 - Spiderman
DS4 - Batman

I told the older kids they needed to be more creative this year as I wasn't going to purchase costumes for them this year. Every year gets more expensive and I just can't justify it when they don't take care of them to reuse (DD does, but 2 older boys don't).

The little guys are so excited and have tried on their costumes 2x.

Sounds like you enjoy sewing/creating their costumes. I love the spider idea! I'm going to have to use that one.

Very cute! I looked for the spider picture but couldn't find it. I found the dice picture. The year of the dice, my younger daughter decided to be a pig. She was about 6. She chose a fairly realistic pig mask and then we died a longjohn top and bottoms flesh color to match the mask. We found pipecleaners that were also flesh color and sewed a cute little curly tail to the shirt. She wore the shirt all winter long with the tail on it. I will email the pictures.

Kate, So sorry to read about your client. What a huge trial for her and her husband. You asked about the sf pudding in the fruit salad. I mix some of the dry instant pudding in with the yogurt and cream to help give it thickness and help coat the fruit. It makes a great dessert and is legal for an 11-20.

Jocelyn, Thanks for the chili recipe. I wasn't sure if you did anything different when you used the black soy beans. I am so looking forward to having a real, legal chili. All of a sudden, our weather changed from hot & humid to cold and breezy..perfect for making chili.

Robin, Hope you get your phone call soon. The mirrors at the gym sound very frightful!

Cindy and Lisa, My daughter made some macaroons yesterday that were fabulous and I think, free. Here's the recipe. Let me know if you think they're okay too. I didn't see anything that we would have to count as all seeds (coconut) don't have to be counted.

2 cups unsweetened coconut
4 egg whites, beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup Splenda

Bake at 325 for 15 mins.

They tasted just like the inside of mounds. I'm sure you could come up with some way to incorporate chocolate in there, too.

Well, I'm off to make a costume for my grandson. Hope it turns out well.

Feast upon the words of Christ

YAWN.....early for me, but got to talk to Ken, so I will be tired but Happy today!!

Melanie - so glad you got clarification from Diane, her messages always make me feel better and are a huge sigh of relief!!

Jocelyn - my posting problem finally went away, have no idea what goes on sometimes! Please let us know your recipe for the nuts...I am going to try Kathy's too, as the one in the book was good, but Kathy's sounded much better!

Cinnamon Splenda Nuts
2 Tablespoons butter
1 cup shelled nuts (can use a mixture)
2 Tablespoons Splenda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon - (I use a bit more)

I melt the butter, add the splenda and cinnamon and mix in the nuts. I put it all on a cookie sheet with sides and bake them at about 300 degrees. You hve to keep stirring about every 5 minutes as you don't want them to burn, but I like my nuts toasted a bit.

I'll try to find the recipe link and add this to it. As I have said before, my cooking is a bit of trial and error as I go along. Last time I made this I added some of my sugar free coconut and am having that on my cottage cheese as I type this!!

On to catching up with the morning posts.

Thanks Jocelyn, About how long do you bake them for? I know, I dont cook with precise measurements or times either! But how about a general time? LOL!!

Barb -
OMG you are so close to your goal, that is AWESOME!!!!:yay::woohoo::cool1::thumbsup2:banana::dance3:

Nell and Kathy – we are also “kitchen” people. We have an island in our kitchen with up to 5 really comfy wrought iron bar stools, and it’s always where everyone congregates. I love the more casual atmosphere it provides.

Honeygram – Nice to see you.

Sunnee – the only thing I see with your posted menu was for breakfast you have a tortilla and ½ a banana. The banana counts for 15 g., is your tortilla 5 or less? If so, you are good. Great to hear about your blood results. P.S. Glad you found us at Part Deux.

Mal – I use a deli ham that is 0 carbs for 6 slices. It is the Oscar Mayer thin sliced smoked ham. I have used 6 slices and a piece of lf cheese for a breadless rollup before.

Carol – yes your Excel should already be there if you see an icon on the desk top.

Robin - glad you got your "man fix".

Cindy - sounds like a busy day. DD10 is now getting to the point where she can bake by herself, but she leaves a mean mess in the kitchen. She made 3 dozen cupcakes on Saturday for the Boy Scout Ghostwalk, and then ran over to the Yacht Club to work at the Halloween Party there. Needless to say my kitchen was a disaster. How come nobody ever cleans up after me? :confused3

I think this year was the first time I haven't had to sew a Halloween costume in a lot of years. I have a pic of my DD when she was 2 or 3 here on my desk. She did make the cutest duck. I have made Harry Potter robes, Woody from Toy Story costumes, etc. This year DD10 and 2 of her friends are going as the Blues Brothers, so I made a quick trip to the Goodwill and picked up a shirt, pants and jacked for about $7. They seem totally unconcerned to have miraculously added a third brother. They also told us they don't want us coming with them. They'll be safe in the subdivision and the boys' mom will be out with the 2 little girls. We'll be at home getting ready for the weenie roast we are hosting. DH's club is closed this week since they are installing a new HVAC system, so he gets to participate in Halloween, which is very unusual for him. Not sure what DS15 is doing this year.

Well, I need to get to work. I'll check back in later.

I'm really confused that Mal got a response from Diane about her ham and I never heard from Diane about my concern about my slow weight loss. Oh well.
I would say that she has to think more on your situation. But if you don't hear from her soon just mail her again maybe it has gotten lost..

My question was pretty basic.. That is my guess

Cinnamon Splenda Nuts
2 Tablespoons butter
1 cup shelled nuts (can use a mixture)
2 Tablespoons Splenda
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon - (I use a bit more)

Thanks for the recipe! I'm going to make some this weekend :)

Barb -

Pony - maybe 20 minutes. You can't go very far from them or they will burn. You can stir them on top of the stove, but I think they come out a bit soggy and I like mine toasted.

I tried putting the recipe in my computer file, but I have discovered I cannot copy anything off of the posts and save it as a word doc. so I emailed the recpe to myself - the same for the coconut macaroons and I will see if I can save that and then find the recipe link and add the recipes.

All the talk of Halloween costumes reminds me of the time my son - an adult at that time - wanted to be a bear to go to a costume party. Off to the store we went and found a pattern and fuzzy, bear like material. Now this was Friday afternoon and the party was Saturday night!! We got home, cut the whole thing out and I think I sewed most of the night and the next morning. We were going to a football game at Stanford that afternoon so I left him with the side seams to sew up and figure out something for his feet. He finished the costume - (I used to so a LOT of sewing so he was used to the sewing machine) and covered some old sneakers with left over fabric. The costume was a hit - but he about expired from the heat of being completely enclosed in very heavy fuzzy fabric. :):)Nice memory for me....

Kate - how sad about your clients. We keep hearing about people and cancer daily it seems. I'm sure it must have something to do with the environment and or what we are eating these days.

 (blushing) Thanks Robin. Do you remember back on the other site, someone popped in with a post about how we just whine when we're having problems and gloat when we post our successes? That could have been Texan Black-heart..anyway, I thought to myself, WTH (only with an F)? We need each other to offer kudos and support, that's what we're here for. I'm so glad to be out of there and hidden away from malicious lurkers and unkind people.

Tuesday-
Catching up on posts:

I see my name is not on the Christmas list. I sent it, but will re-try.

Hope everyone slept well. I’ll “see” you later in the day.

Love to all

I am so sorry I keep messing it up Joycelyn! Please email me directly with your info one more time. I have to make another new list as I've got some more people who would like to be added. It's not deliberate that I keep missing you! I love you!

Lisa, are you able to do the excel list, or do you want me to do it? All I'm doing is stuffing envelopes today, I know you have a crazy schedule. Let me know. If you are doing it then I can add the additional names I have when your done. Hope your having a good day. I've got to go catch up on what I missed so far now! :goodvibes

Well, I am not sure what else there is? Whining when we have a problem and gloating about our successes. To me, that about sums it all up! :lmao:
