MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

It really helps to look at the sample menus that Diane gives in the book to figure out the timing. I left my book at work but I think you can have the 3 slices as a freebie if it's 2 1/2 or 3 hours after a 5x5. It would be the same as a 1 carb Atkins shake as a snack between meals as a freebie. Anyone else have any thoughts on this? JMHO.

I think your right Barb. It sounds right on the mark.

Malzar, they also make lunch meat with lower carbs, as low as 1 carb per serving. Is your husband stuck on that one brand? I have used sliced turkey for a snack and put a little bit of whipped cream cheese in the center and roll it up. It's as filling as a sandwich even though it doesn't have the bread.

Well, I'm getting mighty sleepy. I hope everyone that haven't had time to drop by are well tonight. I'm going to retire to bed with my MM book. Night everyone!:grouphug:

Sunnee: Great to see you! Menu looks great – just one question? How many carbs are in your lc tortilla? Congrats on your great blood work!

Nell, What a great find on Craigslist! I love that site. I've met alot of nice people thru it too, both selling and buying. That was sweet of the lady to give you some bulbs, too.

My brain is in a fog tonight. We had company for dinner so I spent the afternoon cleaning house and prepping the food. Nothing exciting....we did breakfast for dinner. Turned out good and was legal. I made a fruit salad with apples and pears and then mixed in some plain greek yogurt, 1/4 package sf vanilla pudding mix, some vanilla extract and some 1/2 & 1/2. Added a little more splenda too. It was so yummy and I counted it as my 11-20.

Will spend tomorrow making a Luke Skywalker costume for my 3 yr old grandson. I thought I would be able to just lay him down on the floor and trace around him, but the top is more like a robe that crosses in the front. Not hard, but did have to go buy a pattern. I was lucky to find one of the cheap ones as I'm not willing to pay $10 or more for a pattern. Wish me luck! I had forgotten that they had Luke dressed almost entirely in white. Like you can save the universe without getting your clothes all stained and torn...not!

Lisa, I could very well have Excel on my computer but as usual I will have to find one of my kids to show me how to get there. It is a there, isn't it? It's not a download, because I have to tell you I'm not real successfull at those things. I have a long list of things I've downloaded but can't seem to look at them. I've been told to double click on them but nothing happens. On the bright side, I haven't lost a post or had it eaten in the last few days since I copy and paste now.

Am going to stumble into bed now. See you tomorrow!

Feast upon the words of Christ

Pony so sorry to hear that you didn't get your phone call, hopefully you will in the morning.

But on a different note:rolleyes1 I e-amiled Diane with my question and she said that the deli chicken was fine and it is a neutral food,:thumbsup2 so that is great for us :yay::yay: So if anyone else has that question then you know the answer! I am so glad that we don't have to start over on step 1 for 8 more wks :rotfl2:

This chicken meat is nice because it is not slimy like some of the others that I have tasted, and is handy to grab in the middle of the night as a snack and go back to bed!:rotfl: That is the reason I think that we all liked it so much!

I am so proud of myself I did a 20 min workout (zumba tape, and made it all the way to the end!:dancer: Then I did some more bends and lunges to take up the other 10 min.!!:ccat:

I don't think that I have excel on my computer. Not sure but don't think honeygram does either.

Have a nice night have to goto bed now!
Melanie:goofy:

Melanie: That's great news about the meat. We sure need our Diane from time to time, don't we? She's been a real gem about answering questions and making people feel so valued and comfortable. I think she's got a real gift for communication. Sorry we went around about it, but it's better to ask about these things and then we know for the next time. Have a great night!

Tuesday-
Catching up on posts:

Lisa - yes the trees are aspens. We saw them when we dove to Carson City at this time last year. People were pulling over and taking pictures they were so beautiful. Where on HWY 49 were you?

Barb – I have a recipe for cinnamon nuts that I have used before, but not recently. I’ll try it again and see if it is worth sharing. I think it came out better than the one in the book, but am not sure.

Yay on the new pants size Lisa. I had on an outfit today that I have not worn for quite a while. My friend said you look so much trimmer in that outfit – and of course, I beamed!! I told hubby it is like having a whole new wardrobe in my closet these days.

Belated Happy Birthday, Natalie

Welcome Natalie – this group is awesome

Just finished page 99 – and will start the new thread later.

Hope everyone liked their food, Laura. I have a close friend that was a realtor and her spreads were always unreal. She said she had every realtor in the area whether they wanted to see here house or not, they wanted to see what she was serving that day!!

CHILI – I use one can of black soy beans for each pound of meat. I used one smaller sized can of crushed tomatoes, chopped up onion and a bag of frozen peppers. You probably have access to fresh ones and I would use those. I also put a big spoonful of crushed garlic in and then add lots of chili powder. I then simmer it in the crock pot all day. I brown the meat and onion together before putting it in the crock pot. Taste test to see if it spicy enough for you – go slowly on the chili if you do not like spicy. It takes a while for the beans to get the flavor in them.

Robin – I was having some problems posting so just gave up. I usually think they are doing some maintenance at the hours I get on, but don’t know. I have gone to one post as that is working best for me. (I was not having the problem you were having. I still think it is the late hour)

I think if there are carbs in the lunch meat there is sugar added. I read a lot of labels this morning as I couldn’t find a turkey I liked. I finally found 0 carb turkey in the deli section of Costco. (I guess this is a moot point now)

Lisa – there is a wasabi mayo we get here in the Oriental section, but I would just add wasabi to some mayo and put it on top of the fish. It is Dynasty Brand.

I thought I tried to become your friend a while ago, I will try it again.

Robin – thanks for menu – it is printing right now. Not sure when I will get to step 2 though!!!! We have had too much going on and I keep thinking I need to add 10 days again!!

Barb – what weight did you start at? I can’t remember from the old thread. (I guess I could go check!!) If I was depending on a number I would have given this up a long time ago as there is basically no change for me.
You are doing really well – KUTGW

Oatmeal with nuts and cinnamon should be yummy.

Kathy – that is basically the way I make my sugared nuts – much better than doing them in a pan on top of the stove. They get roasted this way.

The Walden Farms syrup is one of their better things!:)

Welcome Honeygram!

Nell – what a lovely day!.... a new table and bulbs. You will remember it for a long time.

If anyone is writing to Diane could you ask her about the unsweetened Almond Breeze. Is it a freebie as it is made from just almonds?? I have seen a recipe for making it

I have Excel

Glad to hear I can use meats with one carb

I finally made it through through the posts. It is late everywhere else so you will get all of this in the AM. Sorry it has taken so long to answer some of the questions.

I see my name is not on the Christmas list. I sent it, but will re-try.

Hope everyone slept well. I’ll “see” you later in the day.

Love to all

Good morning everyone. I am up bright and early today. Already got my filing done. I had to be up by 7 to let the "door" man come in and measure our front door. We are getting a new one. I believe the door that is on the house is original and the house was built in 78.

Got 2 loads of laundry done and I'm ready to go to work now. Hopefully, I won't be too busy paying everyone elses bills and making sure they have the right information to me. Oh, and my sink is shiny too Kathy!

Hope everyone has a great day!:lovestruc

YAWN.....early for me, but got to talk to Ken, so I will be tired but Happy today!!

Nell - thanks for the hug, I was more frustrated than disappointed! Darn those international calling circuits anyway! We tried there to here, I tried calling from here, tried 3 different operators for assistance, but no way were we getting through last night!! Maybe its just everybody trying to call at the same time and not enough circuits...who knows!:confused3 I do know that even if it takes a day or so, we are still getting to talk every couple days...the bad news is that he might not get back here to the states before having to return to china, but its all good...this is a very important contract for him and I am being very understanding!! He is so afraid I am going to take off on him...and of course you guys all know that AINT happening!!:love:

Melanie - so glad you got clarification from Diane, her messages always make me feel better and are a huge sigh of relief!!

Jocelyn - my posting problem finally went away, have no idea what goes on sometimes! Please let us know your recipe for the nuts...I am going to try Kathy's too, as the one in the book was good, but Kathy's sounded much better!

Good Morning Cindy! sounds like you already have half a days work done! I like the Atkins bars...they all have different carb counts, so just check each different flavor...I even used the 7g ones on step 1, just divided into 4 bites and left one off, then combined the "last bites" to make another 5x5! LOL, since you are on step 2, they should all be fine, I dont recall that any of them were over 20g. Most of the other protein bars are way high in carbs though...I had some Zone bars I had to give away, they were like 28g, 33g, so I read more carefully now!

Perfect. They are 12 net carbs (22g carbs and 10g fiber). Makes it much easier for breakfast.

I have a headache today probably cause I was up 3 times with my little man and got up extra early. I hate taken meds, but I think I will take 2 advil this am.

Have a great day Robin!!!

ScienceDaily (July 6, 2009) — A new study by researchers at Rhode Island Hospital have found a substantial link between increased levels of nitrates in our environment and food with increased deaths from diseases, including Alzheimer's, diabetes mellitus and Parkinson's. The study was published in the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease.

It goes on to say:

All of these diseases are associated with increased insulin resistance and DNA damage.

Met B's are already insulin resistant so we need to stay away from processed foods containing nitrates.

Thanks for the info Lisa. Sounds like I'll be losing my beloved ham. I think by the time we are all finished we'll be eating "whole" again, like they did in the old days. I was looking at the ingredient list in Malzer's ham. I saw "nitrite", I am assuming those are nitrates. What other words do I need to look for, do you know?

We met some really nice people today. :) It was cool. I had been looking in craigslist for a dining table that everyone can fit at for Thanksgiving. We found a nice set, it's the kind with the chairs on wheels and it has a leaf in it to make it long. The nicest thing was the people. They were really sweet. The couple had made a beautiful garden in the back with a pergola covered with thick vines. After talking for a bit the wife brought me back to show me. They had a pretty golden retriever. And they are going to bring the table to us next week because he has a van he can drive. He's not well, so we'll have to unload it, but it's a big help. She gave me enourmous lilly bulbs too. They are the size of a turnip. I have no idea what kind of lillies come out of bulbs like that, but I think I'm going to be finding out one of these days! :rotfl: I got them all in the ground beside the carport, in the rain of course. Doesn't that always happen when your trying to plant something? It was lovely to meet nice people.

Nell, sounds like a lovely day. The other thing to be thankful for (in addition to the table and the new friends) is that you were able to plant the bulbs. Think how far you have come girl!:woohoo:

Lisa - sounds like you had a great open house. I am glad to know that there are realtors out there who are able to be successful in this economy.

Kathy - glad you were full of energy. I hope today goes as well.

Feast upon the words of Christ

Hmmmmmm. I love pudding. I am curious about adding the sf vanilla pudding mix to the fruit salad? What does it do?

Good luck with the Halloween costume. I always loved Halloween with my girls. The is the first year that we haven't had a carve pumpkin/bake Halloween cookies party....

I love Craigslist too. My younger DD, the one that left for college in August, has a huge dorm room (if you can believe that). She needed some kind of big rug for the room. She saw one on Craigslist that she liked but it was $250 so she didn't even respond to the ad. A couple of weeks later she saw it again but the price had dropped to $75. She called the lady and said she was a poor college student and all she could afford was $50. The lady agreed. Then Chloe told her she didn't have a car or anyway to pick it up. The lady was nice enough to have her 21 year old son deliver it. Chloe and her roommate ended up spending the afternoon with the lady's son.....

Nell, I wonder if everyone has Excel on their computers? I was thinking of making an Excel sheet and adding our phone numbers and email addresses. Then we can update the one document whenever we add someone or they move, etc. If anyone cannot open Excel, will you let me know?:surfweb:

Great idea Lisa!

I love to bake with the babies. I bought cupcake fixins for Saturday during the day so they don't go stir crazy before we go trick or treating. They are already so excited and can't wait to wear their costumes. :yay:
