MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

Good morning everyone! I'm outta eggs! That is my grump this morning! Ok, besides that, I busted my behind yesterday. I'm sore but not as bad as usual. I wonder if that supplement can work that quickly? I doubt it, but it would be nice. I have a headache this morning, and I think it's my sinus. I took a sudafed.

Ok, are you all sick of hearing my whining by now? I'm going to lay back down. I'm actually in a pretty good mood by the way! :rotfl: I sound like it, huh?

Nell, your mood sounds wonderful! Keep active, but pace yourself.:yay:

I wrote Diane to ask if I could use pomegranate seeds. Yes 2 T = 5 carbs! Cool! I love them on cottage cheese and in my winter 'company' salads. Each serving of a spinach salad would only have a few.

I took the opportunity to cliarify with her the placement of 11-20's when you're not sure about what time a meal will be. Her respose was very interesting:

You are better off erring by putting an extra 11-20 in between meals and finding out that meals are within 5 hours than leaving the 11-20 gram liver dam out and allowing meals to exceed the 5 hour mark.

Validates our afternoon snacktime at around 3. That's a relief!

Thanks Lisa. I was always worried on step2 when I had a snack at 3:00 or so expecting a later dinner, then eating at an earlier time because Hubby was starving when I got home. I suppose it holds true for before bed snack if it's only a few hours after dinner.. What are you using for your afternoon snack?

My husband likes an apple for his. I tend to vary. Often Aitkens coconut bar. When I'm wicked it's 15 blue corn tortilla chips and lf cheese nachos, but that's rare, lol! Cheese and crackers. I like a bit of protein that time of day with the snack. Peanut butter and apple.

Morning...or should I say afternoon? I had my 8:30 feeding and went right back to bed....and OMG its almost noon!! I NEVER do that, but have to admit it felt really good!!

Ken is back out on that darn oil rig in the East China Sea, so totally out of touch for who knows how long this time....sigh...definitely wont be making it back to the States for Thanksgiving...he is totally frustrated with the chinese and this whole contract in general, but no way to do anything now but see it through!

Cooking today for the potluck..all my teammates are worrying about what I wil be able to eat, even though I told them not to! So I know there will be some meats and veggies I will be able to share...and I am making a double chocolate cake to bring! OMG, this will be the first time doing THAT since starting MM...not to worry though, the idea of making it doesnt even spark an interest in licking the bowl...WOW, who would have thought!!

Diane - you have a great attitude about the job thing, and I just KNOW that something will turn up soon for you!

Where has Jocelyn been? Havent heard in a couple days?

Lisa - what do you use the pomegranate seeds for? I see thhere is some listed in my Shakeology too...just wondering...

Nell - wish I could send you some eggs!! Our chickens have been laying like CRAZY the past month, and we have about 15 dozen in the fridge right now!! I am going to make a quiche today with fresh asparagus to keep for my bedtime snack...I havent quite decided whether I should eat the quiche for breakfast with some toast, and then have my shakeology as my pre-workout 11-20...going to ask Diane what she thinks...

Kath - maybe if you are having heel pain you are having one of those "heel spurs" ?? I used to get them every couple years...could hardly even put my heel down on the ground without pain...I used those REI inserts and they helped ALOT and arent that expensive either. It was weird...they would just HAPPEN one day and hurt for a couple of months sometimes, then seemed like one day I would get up and they would just disappear....havent had one in about 5 years, but remember they did hurt!!

Robin: Pomegranate is anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant. Many scholars believe it was the tree of life. It's depicted in a lot of ancient art. I love it in a spinach or baby green salad with feta, some pear, and walnuts or pecans. I used to eat it a lot on top of cottage cheese. I buy the seeds when they are in the produce section at Trader Joes this time of year and freeze them in a pie plate in one layer, then store in the freezer anytime I need a handful. Another good salad is chicken, celery, apple, pomegranate seeds, feta, walnuts. I eat that for a main dish when Tom has to work late and I am rummaging.

That heel spur thing could be plantar faciititis, which is what those Good Feet inserts are for, but they are crazy expensive so the REI inserts are a good thing to try first, for sure.

Thanks Robin and Lisa. I'll check out the REI insoles. I don't really think it's spurs and such. My heel just gets I guess achy. Not really sore. It's hard to explain. Sort of like if you walk on the side of your foot all day, and it aches. I noticed at Walmart Dr. Scholls has a thing you stand on, and it tells you what size and kind of insole you need. Not sure if I trust that or not. Going to head over to the mall (if you can call it that LOL) and get a pair of shoes. Rebok makes a shoe that always feels good on my feet. The girls say they look like they are from the 80's. LOL. But they always make my feet feel great. They are just the plain white classic ones.
Nell, you didn't sound like you were complaining to me. Sorry you ran out of eggs. That is one staple I make sure I have lots of. I buy 2 of the 18 packs. I eat 3 in a western omlet almost everyday. Tyson gets my yolks on occasion. Don't want him to have too much fat in the yolks.
Ok, going to shine my sink and do some :laundy:
Catch you all later

I don't see it if it was recent. So did you make a sub-group within your regular page then?:surfweb:

yes it was recent. Anyone can make a group it's really cool, we can put pictures on it and no one else can see them because the group is set up as private.

Nell - first thing when we got here this morning we were informed that we cannot write ANY policies in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi until AFTER the hurricane has gone through!! Insurance companies arent stupid...why insure something you are almost sure to have to pay out on!! And of course we have been getting calls all day from those states from people that have no insurance and figured they better try to get some quick!! Guess they should have thought of that before!!

Ponygirl, LOL I guess with your crazy hours I thought you worked in the medical field. I have State Farm and they are supposed to be pulling out of Florida within the next 2 years and I have been wondering where to get insurance from :woohoo:

My Mediterranean Chicken makes perfect sauce for 1/2 cup Barilla whole wheat pasta. I'm popular again tonight! None for you, Robin, you don't like olives. Have you ever had Greek olives? Manna from heaven.

I HATE OLIVES!! YUK!!!!!! Do we have a gagging smiley??

:wave2:HelloOOooo Everyone!!:wave2:

I thought I'd best sit down and let you all know I'm still liv'n. I've been so sooo busy. I do sit and have lunch or breakfast with you all every now and again, I can't let myself get too far out of the loop. I see I'm not the only one that life has took a hold of! lol It seems like months since I've posted.

Baby Audrianna is doing very well. She's ended up being a very good baby, her parents have no idea how lucky they are!! lol Much to my surprise, they're still staying with us here at the house. I thought they'd have wanted and needed their privacy long before now. We don't mind so much, when we head out to Mexico we were going to ask them to stay here and house sit anyway. And needless to say, I have no issue with seeing Audri every day! :teeth:

I've gotten tons done here at the house! Den, foyer, kitchen, stairwell and hall, all painted, ceilings and walls and all the moldings! I've dismantled and reassembled this entire house, feels great, almost like I have a new home! I'm so very grateful to have the energy to have done it all. A year ago I'd have set limits on what I planned to accomplish for the season, not this year, I feel like the energizer bunny!

I just passed my one year anniversary for getting healthy! I've lost 62.5 lbs. With a 28.5 lbs loss since starting this WOE. It's so funny, every time I see my mom she tells me, "Pam, you're too skinny, you better quit that diet you're on, I don't hardly recognize you anymore, you don't look like yourself." (In her best Kentucky accent!) If I see her three times in a week, she says it to me three times. lol. I mean really? I honestly have at least ten more pounds to lose! And Robin, it's all right there in my gut! You're not alone, I'm down to the wire on this and that tummy bulge still doesn't want to release it's grip! First place to gain, last place to lose?! Ugh!

Lisa, I'm still smiling to myself each time I think of you and your jeans!! When Oprah announced that she was going to disclose the best fitting jeans in America, I talked back at the TV and said, "I already have the best fitting jeans in American, Lee Riders!" I didn't catch the show but when you said that's what she was talking about, I cracked up! I thought for sure she was going to talk about some "affordable" $200 a pair designer style. I started wearing them when I was in a size sixteen and now have them in a size twelve. I won't quit wearing them, love them!!

I have too much to say! I'm going to cut this off and post again!! ::yes::

Pam: I was just thinking about you this morning and hoping you'd post soon! It's great to hear how the family is doing and how energetic you are! We are so excited for all of your progress and that you are so close to your goal you can taste it. That'll be the only sweet thing on your tongue, lol!:rotfl:

Oprah did have Cookie Johnson (Magic's wife) on with her awesome $200 jeans. Then they gave the Lees as an affordable alternative. I love them so much I got another pair at Kohl's this weekend. Can't wait til I can get the size 12's like you! I haven't worn a 10 in many years, but now I believe it's not out of the rhelm of possibility!

Give that sweet baby a hug from us all and enjoy every minute!:grouphug:

Yum, these are Kalamata olives - they are burgandy. You don't like pimento olives. I would try adding some chopped Kalamata to those chicken breasts. I make a Greek salad many days for lunch with feta cheese. Love it!

love greek salad--how do you make your dressing?

Hellacious day today! First day back at work and all the nutsos came out to play! Then I got home and the power went out just before I started dinner. Luckily we have a gas stove so I could do dinner on the stovetop. Dinner by candlelight, and no it wasn't romantic

Diane - I'm thinking about you and your job situation. I have always believed that things happen for a reason. I always tell my kids when something bad happens, you will soon be glad it happened, because you ended up in a better place because of it. Hang in there, the perfect job will happen for you.

Pony, you've been back on step2 for a week? What is it that you are having everyday that you didn't before? If your bloating doesn't go down, I'd be looking at food sensitivities. Usually dairy, eggs and wheat. Are your new protein shakes fairly new to your diet? Are they made with whey protein? I know I found out I was highly sensitive to dairy and eggs and never knew it because I was always bloated  Just a thought.

Nell, I'm glad you are safe and out of the hurricanes path

hey Barb--hope todays a much better day!

Thanks Lisa. To be honest, it doesn't sound like that at all. It is fine until about 1/2 way through the day. If I'm in socks, slippers or bare feet, I'm ok. I am thinking it is the shoes. I have had them for quite a while. I am going to try the shoes and the insoles and see how it goes. Tha;nkms for the website, it really was informative.

OK, so the black bean soup is not only easy but GOOD too! Yay! I think Jocelyn put the recipe on the thread if anyone wants to try it. I feel all kind of healthy now! LOL

Pam - so glad to hear from you! That is so amazing that you are in your size 12's!! GREAT JOB!! I dont know why that tummy bulge refuses to go...seems like Diane said that would be something we would notice early on? but then she did tell me it might be the last thing to go...Im hitting her with alot of questions when I e-mail her on Friday!!

Lisa - are the pomegranate seeds crunchy? And do they have a definite flavor? Fruity? Im AFRAID!!!

Laura - no medical field for me after 20 years of Police work I saw enough medical emergencies to last me forever!! I knew about State Farm pulling out of Florida awhile back...Nationwide actually pulled out two years ago and the only thing we do there now is auto in just a few counties, and continue to service any policyholders with homeowners insurance until they are due to renew...then they are automatically cancelled...thats what State Farm is doing now...not writing any new business, just servicing the old...the only company still writing Florida that is worth doing business with is Foremost...they are a specialty company, and only deal with certain counties too...there have just been so many horrific losses there the past 10 years it is impossible for companies to stay profitable and still write business there. We dont write ANYTHING at all in Louisiana any more either...and we are now informed that California is heading in the same direction due to all the wildfire losses the past 5-6 years...I got a call from a woman the other day whose home was at the very top of some mountain with no access out except a single road, and that road was engulfed in the most recent fire!! She was so pissed off at me when I told her I was sorry but could not help her out...she had gotten the same answer from many companies and demanded that I tell her what she was supposed to do to get insurance!! She wasnt happy with my response that she should sell the house and move to a safer area!! I guess some folks just think it will never happen to them!
