MM Warriors Part Deux (As of October 27)

barb: I started losing again! I am sure of it now. Yes, it’s been slow, but i zipped my boots up without struggling over my fat calves today and i even had thick tights on. I had an epiphany this morning and happened to chat with robin about it. We both agreed we have reached a place that is so much better than being about willpower. Our minds and bodies simply don’t want the things we used to crave and we are not at all tempted to be around foods we don’t eat anymore. You’ve all been on diets where you persisted due to willpower and we know what that feels like, but this is such a calm, easy, natural feeling. There isn’t a devil on my shoulder telling me what i might like next. He’s not being controlled by me because i have willpower that i might lose at any momemt; he is gone!

I do cook some and yes that would have to be the best choice, however what I am concerned about is the fact do I need to add time to step 1? we (family and I) didn't count that as a 5x5 and I was wondering if we were messing up. We are not eating it now till we find out, but we have been eating it a lot in the past. This is my concern, didn't realize that it was a problem till I read a post somewhere( not sure which forum it was on or whom it was by)on carbs in lunch meat... that got me thinking. Thanks so much for your help!

I am such a whimp when it comes to telling people to add on days, lol! :confused3 I will say that I have seen another person told to add 10 days because of sugared lunch meats. Bummer, but what's 10 days in a lifetime? It might be best to be conservative with those L & P's. Several people here have done extra time for various reasons.

Melanie: Your Goofy inspired me to find out why I haven't seen some of the smilies! I wasn't opening the box up all the way! There is another world of them. Hear that, Natalie?? We have a lot more to use before we are finished!!:artist:Here's Pam.:sail:Here's Melanie from now on - steering the course!

Good evening all my buddies! Another busy day for me. But I have had a lot of energy, so hopefully tomorrow is a good day also. I can't believe it's after 7 and I'm not exhausted! Part may be the allergy medicine I'm taking. Slept like a baby last night. Actually woke up refreshed and before the alarm!!
I have been busy looking at the Flylady site also. It has really helped me so far, and today was my 3rd day!! I have :laundy: washing and drying, a clean sink, and I got dressed as soon as I woke up this morning. And not a lot of computer this morning either. Usually I'm the icon, :surfweb: LOL
I forget who it was saying about not losing weight. Just stalling. I think we hit plateaus when our boxy needs to "readjust." I was always told if your weight plateaus, up your exercise a bit. Your body is used to what you're doing.
I have to share my newest experiment. I took whole pecans, melted butter and mixed them with splenda and cinnamon. Shook them up in a zip lock baggie, and put in the oven for about 10 min. They are soooo good!! popcorn::(That is me eating my pecans LOL)
I would imagine any type of nut would work if you don't like pecans. I will have to be very careful or I'll eat the whole thing!!
Good news today, Lisa. I got my one book I ordered. It is the one titled Adrenal Fatigue.
I think I'll be reading it tonight and making notes for sure. Hope my other one comes tomorrow!!
Catch you all before bed tonight.
:hyper2: (this was you guys today! Wow, 5 pages!!) Bev, thanks for starting a new thread today and linking it up for us!!:teleport:

I'm really happy your Realtor meeting went so well Lisa! Yay for drinking water! Would you ever have imagined being that cool about it? I'm grateful also for not being on a "diet." It's so nice to not have to struggle with cravings all of the time!

I make the oatmeal with cinnamon and sweetener and I like it that way. It may be too plain for some people, I'm not sure. I hide the Maca in there and a little coconut oil that I use for a supplement. Flax would be a good thing to sneak in too! I have to check on the carbs though because Maca is 5 grams of carbs per tablespoon. I may have to put Maca in a smoothie instead. Barb, that's a great idea about the sugar free syrup. I never thought of that. Your right, flax would make the oatmeal a lot more filling!

Barb, that is Totally Terrific! :yay::yay::woohoo::yay::yay:Your doing great!

Natalie, I think it's great that your feeling some hope with your fibro! I hope you keep getting better and better!

Thank you Kate. I'm proud of you also!

Thank you for the nitrate info Lisa. In a perfect world I would never use food with them. I'm moving toward it! I do cook up chicken breast ahead of time for chicken salad. Usually I stew it so that I get chicken broth in the process. I use it for gravy for the dogs.

Nell: Unfortunately, we have nitrates leeching into our soil from nitrate fertilizers already. I have processed meat on rare occasions, too. You can't really control it very well when you are out. I was shocked when I read this newest study and what really stood out was the reference to these diseases being found in insulin resistant people. Ouch! Good idea about the chicken broth for the fur kids!

We met some really nice people today. :) It was cool. I had been looking in craigslist for a dining table that everyone can fit at for Thanksgiving. We found a nice set, it's the kind with the chairs on wheels and it has a leaf in it to make it long. The nicest thing was the people. They were really sweet. The couple had made a beautiful garden in the back with a pergola covered with thick vines. After talking for a bit the wife brought me back to show me. They had a pretty golden retriever. And they are going to bring the table to us next week because he has a van he can drive. He's not well, so we'll have to unload it, but it's a big help. She gave me enourmous lilly bulbs too. They are the size of a turnip. I have no idea what kind of lillies come out of bulbs like that, but I think I'm going to be finding out one of these days! :rotfl: I got them all in the ground beside the carport, in the rain of course. Doesn't that always happen when your trying to plant something? It was lovely to meet nice people.

I am so glad you met such nice people. Her garden sounds lovely. At least planting the bulbs in the rain, you won't need to water them LOL.
We are getting our rain tonight and tomorrow.
So glad you got your table, Nell

Thank you Kathy! They were really sweet! It made my day, probably week even! I love the table. The chairs are big and comfy too, which is a bonus. I can't wait to have it here so that I have a place to sit and talk. I've tried to have a conversation in the room with the TV, and it doesn't work. :happytv:

I have noticed that when we go to my mom's or friend's houses, we always end up in the kitchen. I guess we are "kitchen" people. Just feels homey to me to sit at the table with coffee, drink, whatever, and just talk all evening. I am so glad you got your table. It sounds sooo pretty! I would love to have chairs with wheels. Thank goodness I don't, or I'd be rolling all over the house LOL!:scared:

I will try to start adding some protein with my carbs. I am getting ready to have an apple and will have a piece of string cheese with it. I'll try to figure something out about breakfast too.

I know what you mean about not having any cravings. I am not even afraid of Halloween this year. There is truly an inner peace about eating this way.

I know what you mean. I have absolutely no cravings for any crappy candy. I do love my dark chocolate though. We've had a ton of candy in the house since Nana and Papa brought each of the kids a huge bag of candy for Sweetest Day, doesn't even interest me. Doesn't it feel good!

It feels really good! I do enjoy a tiny bit of that tea infused dark chocolate, but it's so easy for me to let a tiny square melt in my mouth and when I'm finished, that's it! How cool is that! :cool1:

Thanks for letting me join you here. I am in week 5 on
step One. I feel that this will be a great motivation for me.
I look forward to reading everyone's post and this will be
very helpful.

Quickie post before I go talk to Ken...he is getting up at 2am to call from London! OMG, I love him!!

Lisa -I appreciate your concern on my menu, but since I am eating an 11-20 at 10:30 before my workout, I shouldnt need another until the one at 3:30am, right? I only add in the bedtime snack because I am usually hungry after the gym and coming here to check in with you guys before I head to bed. I dont think I need to have another 11-20 in between the 10:30 and 3:30 do I ????

Hey Kate - did you notice you are a Mouseketeer now? I guess you have earned your ears!! LOL

Nell - so glad you found a deal and nice people too!

Kathy - I cant keep everyone out of my kitchen at holiday gatherings either!!

Melanie - I think I would go for the extra 10 days...just to be sure, Diane had answered this question for someone on LCF and that was her answer.

Barb - you are doing awesome! I wish I could feel my tummy deflate sometime soon!

Will probably be back to check in one more time before bed...but I am blowing you guys off to talk to Ken at 9!! LOVE YOU GUYS!! hee hee

Well guys, I believe I will call it a night. Getting a little tired LOL. But what a great day!!
I will be praying for everyone, including all prayer requests not asked.
Have a great night everyone, and sweet dreams. And yes, God has blessed me. With all of you.
I love you all, and so grateful for each of you!!

Kathy - what is adrenal fatigue?

Kathy - what is adrenal fatigue?

Here is the first paragraph from a website (posting the site too).

What is Adrenal Fatigue?

Adrenal fatigue is a collection of signs and symptoms, known as a "syndrome", that results when the adrenal glands function below the necessary level. Most commonly associated with intense or prolonged stress, it can also arise during or after acute or chronic infections, especially respiratory infections such as influenza, bronchitis or pneumonia. As the name suggests, its paramount symptom is fatigue that is not relieved by sleep but it is not a readily identifiable entity like measles or a growth on the end of your finger. You may look and act relatively normal with adrenal fatigue and may not have any obvious signs of physical illness, yet you live with a general sense of unwellness, tiredness or "gray" feelings. People suffering from adrenal fatigue often have to use coffee, colas and other stimulants to get going in the morning and to prop themselves up during the day.

Lisa recommended a book called "From Fatigued to Fantastic." Can't remember the doctor who wrote it, sorry. She said it really helped with her fibromyalgia. I ordered that book off amazon and also "Adrenal Fatigue."
