MM question how do I make sure it isn't used early

Staying 3 nights at Grand Californian and I know I can get in early as a resort guest, but 4th night staying offsite at Marriott. Hoping to use the MM from the multi-day ticket on the 5th morning, but how do I ensure they don't accidentally scan it during the early entries while I'm staying at the Grand? Thoughts? Thanks!

Trust that they know what they are doing in their job? Check it somehow at Guest Relations every day after entering the Park? I think you just have to believe people know what they're doing. Why would you be concerned about it getting scanned early?

Worried about it being scanned and used up when entering the park on Extra Magic Hours from being a resort Hotel guest and then when I'm not a Resort Hotel Guest and want to use the 1 MM entry that comes with a multi day ticket purchase on the last day of our visit having the cast member tell me I already used it (when I didn't need to as a Resort Hotel guest).

Hopefully that makes sense. Basically saying how do you know if you are using the EMH from being a resort hotel guest versus them scanning you in using your only MM entry from a multi-day ticket purchase?

You could always call Disneyland and ask ahead of time. I am curious as to what their answer would be.

I think that's a legitimate question. It's not a matter of trusting the cast members; how are they supposed to know you are splitting your stay? I would just mention it at the gates (before scanning) the first time you do EE on the DL side. I'm sure they would be happy to keep the magic morning on there or let you know if that is done automatically now.

I agree it is not a matter of trusting the cast members, it is a matter of understanding how the process works. We only stayed onsite once, many years ago, and we never got up early enough for early entry! I would ask ahead of time, and ask the cast member at the gate too. Good luck! I have heard that if you upgrade a PH to an AP before using the magic morning, that you lose the magic morning, so it seems reasonable that there might be some quirks in your situation too.

Well that would make sense. You no longer have a PH if you upgrade to an AP. AP's don't get MM.
