MLB 2025 Playoffs/World Series thread.⚾️🧢

Heart of a Champion. Yamamoto was a deserving MVP. Reminded me a bit of Madison Bumgarner.

Final Tallies Yamamoto 17 2/3 3 wins 0 losses, 1.02 ERA 10 hits 2 earned runs 15 strike outs 2 walks.
Bumgarner 21 innings 2 wins, 0 losses 1 save, 0.43 ERA 9 hits one earned run 17 strike outs 1 walk.
I doubted I'd ever see the likes of that one again. But by golly Yamamoto came close.

Barger should not have taken the lead off the base.
I can't say he lost the series because well we don't know whether Springer would have gotten an out or not too but he took the bat out of Springer's hands there. He had absolutely nothing to gain by taking that lead either.

For all you folks in LA who attend LAUSD… you do NOT have the day off tomorrow. You will be playing hooky and risking attendance issues if you attend tomorrow’s parade.

I think it was the terrible base running that led to the double play at 2nd to end the game. .
That was kind of the theme for the last few games.. I mean I'm a dodger fan but at bare minimum IKF should've been off the base as far as Muncy was. If he does that Toronto wins game 7 in the bottom of the 9th. Also no idea why he slid instead of just running through the base. Its not like he needed to avoid the tag, he needed to outrun the force out.

In total the Jays outscored the Dodgers 34 to 26 through the series and got 75 hits compared to the Dodgers' 53. But the difference is in total from the 8th inning and later in all 7 games, the Dodgers scored 7 runs and the Blue Jays only scored 1. The Blue Jays offense dies in the 8th. 2 of those 7 runs led directly to a win for the Dodgers in game 3 and 7. Baserunning aside.. the Blue Jays probably win the world series, but baserunning is one of the fundamentals of baseball so here we are..

Actually when you're on third with fewer than 2 outs your MAXIMUM lead should be less than the defender at third base to avoid the unassisted double play on a line drive as well as being picked off. Seemed like a good situation for a squeeze play.
The Jays made a lot of base running mistakes.
Bichette thinking it was Ball 4. The Ump being late on that call didn't help. But that's on Bichette. It's a potential walk. There is no penalty for staying on first until you're sure. Oh and kids, don't show up the ump by anticipating Ball 4. They're not supposed to have egos but more often than not, they'll ring you up with a strike. Again there is no advantage to not waiting. And as you see, it can confuse your base runner.
Springer then made a similar mistake in Game 7. He took off, then slowed thinking it was ball 4..... Inexcusable.

Ehhh he didn't have to be as glued to the base as much he was. Regardless, still shouldn't have slid into home, it just ended up slowing him down some more. No errors on the statline but definitely some errors with regards to fundamentals.
