MK Toll plaza set to change quite a bit

Disney has filed permits for the rumored changes to the Magic Kingdom Toll plaza changes.

Hopefully they can figure out a way to let people leaving the Contemporary and Wilderness Lodge exit out on World Drive without having to cross over to Seven Seas Drive (or be forced onto Vista Boulevard. That never made any sense to me.

That's what this would address. A new southbound flyover is seen passing by the car care center.

This will also eventually tie into the project to connect World Drive all the way to Reams Rd which will probably look something like this based on some exploratory permits that were filed a while ago.

True. But my dad did all the driving back then and I was too busy staring out the back window at the MK to notice where we were going.

Ok so this was in the news last year as a 16-1 vote to build flyovers to get resort traffic separate from park traffic...

so happy this isn't a bridge over the toll plaza

So disney, what are you going to do about everyone not fitting in MK?? great we can all get there faster but where should we stand?

Well attendance didn't increase this past quarter so crowds may not be increasing like they were before.

then no need for new roads and there is more money so lets get moar attractions. I would love shanghai style where you ignore disney past and concentrate on some disney current movie attractions/lands... I have to say, that park has always excited me when I heard they had to concentrate on newer movies because china doesn't have the disney history. This is what disney has been missing the last 2 decades (although this would be a killer 5th park design that is more teen/action film oriented.. )


back on topic.. Wasn't there also a new entrance road on the west and/or north that was doing an enviromental impact study? did that ever get full plans released on what it's going to look like? these plans look like just as much leaving road as coming like they need and equal amount of capacity for cars in both directions.

Shanghai didn't ignore the past. China just doesn't know what the past is so they had to go with more recent stuff. The new roads have been needed for years so it is necessary. If you read a previous post in this thread from Dan there is a new road being built on the north/west side.

I really don't think this new plan is to get guests to MK faster as much as it may be for getting everyone else through the area faster. The toll plaza backs up as people are trying to get to/from work every day, and having an alternate path should theoretically help that.

I'm sure it is, just wondering what the local mindset is going to be when the toll booth reduces some of the time to get to mk

Good news, I hope it will make for a better/safer traffic flow. When we stay at SOG, we have to stop at the toll to tell the CM we are heading to the resort, not MK. It is always challenge to take the first exit as you pass through the MK tolls; it is practically on top of the toll booths. The far right lane is for busses only, and you have to cut over to quickly, avoiding oncoming busses to make the right turn. I will be very happy to see this problem fixed.

Interesting. Nice to see that there would finally be a connection from vista drive to world drive southbound. Would make getting from the fort to other areas easier.

Yes but that would be connecting reams rd to Floridian way, which then connects to world.
