We have never been to Wilderness Lodge, Just wondering best way from MK over to Whispering Canyon Cafe was. We were looking to head over there for lunch 1 day.

Thanks!!!

We always do dinner at this restaurant and we take the bus from our resort to MK and then transfer to the boat. It is a nice and relaxing 10-12min ride to the resort.

Enjoy!!

The bus from the MK is not a long ride at all and is an option. However, the boat launch as the pp mentioned is my favorite. The boats run often, it's very relaxing, and only take about 10 minutes from the MK to WL. :thumbsup2

Agree! And while you are there, you could always check out Fort Wilderness if you ahe never seen it. :)

You can take the boat there, or you can take a bus. The bus is direct. The boat shares with Fort Wilderness. Sometimes it goes to FW first and sometimes it goes to WL first. Do that if you would really like a boat ride. If speed is the priority, take the bus (you may need to wait for it to arrive - but you might have to wait for the boat, too)

we took the boat back and forth.

We had our car with us. We stayed at CBR but the day we were doing WCC we drove to the WL and parked there (we told them when our dinner reservations were and were able to park there-nothing shady, LOL). We took the boat to MK, had a fun day at the park, and then took the boat back to WL for our reservation and left from there, It was much easier than parking at the TTC.

Thanks All..!! Looks like we'll take the boat across as our kids love the boat rides anytime where near Epcot or HS.

If you haven't been there, get there a little early as the lobby is pretty awesome so it will be fun to check it and the geyser out.

This is the reason why I would take the boat. You are dumped off at the dock and have to meander through the "mossy trees", by the Geyser, up along the pool and creek all while looking at one of the most beautiful hotels, then you get to walk into the lobby..:thumbsup2

When you get dropped off by the bus, you come in the side door:sad2:

Take the boat, take the boat, take the boat!!

Also, you can take the mono to CR (or walk for that matter) and boat launch from there to WL.

Personally I would take the bus to the Wilderness Lodge because in my opinon it's going to be faster then the boat and since it's only 5 minutes from the Magic Kingdom, the wait for one shouldn't be long.

This may be true, but as the pp mentioned it is an experience walking through the property. If one has never experienced WL, coming in from the dock does much more for the senses than coming in from the bus entrance. Sometimes it's worth taking an extra 10-15 minutes in one's journey. Now if someone has been there before, then sure, save the extra minutes and come via bus. ;)

We stayed at WL back in December...

- the bus was quicker, but the boats seemed to be there more often when we needed to get back.
- the boat is a heck of a lot more enjoyable than the bus
- either entrance has WOW factors.
--When going through the back entrance you walk on the elevated wooden walks through the trees, near the geyser, and past the pool...which feels so nice.
--HOWEVER- if you take a bus and decide to walk to the front entrance rather than take the path directly to the side entrance past the gift shop (not really out of the way to do this)- you can get the huge wow factor of the lobby. Sure, you see it from the back entrance, but I think there's a lot more wow with the lobby when going in the front doors.

Thank you for asking this question as I was wondering the same :)
We will be staying at the Contemporary. Will we be able to get there from the restaurant pretty easily? Never been! :)

The Contemporary has a boat that goes to the Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness everyday from 6:55 AM - 11:30 PM.

As others have said, boat or bus.

Boat is a nice "experience" and very enjoyable - especially on a nice day. The bus is better on rainy days, or days where it's overly hot. :-)

Just thought I'd chime in and let you know about the Transportation Wizard (which has been a lifesaver for me!). Not sure if I can post links yet or not, but go to Our Laughing Place (dot) com and in the upper right corner click on Transportation Wizard. Then you can enter in whatever two places within WDW and it will tell you the best ways to get there and how long it will take you. :thumbsup2 It's saying to take a boat which will take you about 13 min.
