MK to BWI at night?

What is the best way to get back to BWI as MK closes? We'll be there Aug. 16 - 21, so I'm hoping it won't be absolutely packed, but everyone will be leaving at the same time. Should we just wait for the bus? Would it be faster to drive over (we have the AAA Diamond Parking Pass) and take the tram from MK back to the car? Or monorail to TTC and then to Epcot and walk to the Boardwalk?

Thanks for any help you can give!

If you drive your car, then you will be caught in the crush of off-site people, heading back to the TTC via either the monorail or the ferry. Then, you'll have to get to your car and then drive out with all those same people.
Taking the monorail to Epcot won't work if Epcot is closed. Besides, it will take you quite awhile to do that....get to the MK monorail station, wait for a car, head to TTC, get off, and go down and around back up to the Epcot monorail. Then, when you get to Epcot, you will have to walk through Epcot to the Intnl Gateway...about 20 mins, then to BW.
You really are better off just waiting for the bus with everyone else. You can head out just before the park closes and be close to the front of the bus line, or you can linger awhile in MK as it empties..enjoying the surroundings with fewer people, then catch a bus with a shorter wait time.

OK -- thanks so much. I once waited two hours just to get on the tram to parking at MK, so I was more concerned about this park than the others. But that was 1996 and we just went for the day on Christmas Eve -- we went thinking who else would go on Christmas Eve? :rotfl:

Here is another option you can do. When going to the Magic Kingdom take the bus there from the Boardwalk and when your ready to leave, walk to the Contemporary and take a taxi back to the Boardwalk. That's if your willing to pay the extra money for it.

Thanks -- are there usually taxis lined up or do I need to call ahead? I would be perfectly happy wandering through the shops at MK until the crowds thinned out, but my DH (who is far less Disnefied than I am :) ) is probably going to want to get back as soon as possible. It will be our last night and I want to end the trip on a good note so I won't have trouble convincing him to come back!

Usually when you get to the Contemporary you can ask one of the bellman to call you a taxi and it should be there within a few minutes.

Hope on the Boardwalk OR the Swan/Dolphin bus, whichever is there. Get off at the Swan. It's a short walk over the bridge to the Boardwalk. There are always busses waiting while the MK fireworks are going off. The busses leave when the fireworks are over.

The Boardwalk bus IS the Swan/Dolphin bus. Perhaps you mean the Yacht Club/Beach Club bus??

The buses at MK run continously at about a 20 minute interval. It is a more frequent interval at Fireworks / Closing.

The Boardwalk, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Swan and Dolphin all share the same bus.
