Ok, this is the deal-eo. I need to get from MK over to AK for a few hours and then back again. Looking for the easiest way (least walking) to make the connection between MK and a bus taking us to AK. I was thinking of riding monorail to one of the resorts and walking to bus stop from there? Or..... waiit a minute, do the park to park buses stop right outside of MK or do you get them at the TTC? (As you probably have guessed we always use the car). If they stop outside of MK I guess I have my answer. Also estimate on MK to AK on the bus time?

Thanks in advance:)

The AK bus from the MK will leave from the TTC, not from the bus depot where the resort buses pick up and drop off.

If you want to go to a resort and get an AK bus, I would just walk over to the Contemporary and go from there. Be aware, however, that the bus may stop at one or more of the other MK resorts on its way to AK.

Even though you have to go to the TTC to catch the AK bus, it should be direct to AK (I'll leave some wiggle room for a possible stop at one of the water parks en route, but someone should know for sure).

I would take the ferry to the TTC and then take the bus to AK.

I agree this would have the least walking.

I disagree - once you get off the ferry you have to walk to the bus area across the concrete expanse - not far but I bet its a similar distance to the very short walk to the Contemporary for a bus to AK and walking to the Contemporary would get you on that bus to AK much faster than waiting for a ferry and taking the ferry and disboarding the ferry and walking to the TTC buses.

The shortest distance walking is walking to the Contemporary, then catching the bus. It is about the same distance walking from the monorail or ferry to the bus stop for AK, but less time. If you have to wait on a monorail or ferry, this could add additional minutes. I have done both.

Walk to the Contemporary, pick up the AK bus and then do the same in reverse to get back to MK.

Walk to Contemporary and take the bus from there. You shouldn't have to stop at any resort in between. It has it's own bus system and doesn't share. I've seen it share a couple of times with WL but the buses go to WL before they go to CR.

I have usually walked over to the CR and hopped on the AK bus there. On one recent trip though, I thought I would give the alternative method a shot. Waited for the ferry to come...then over to the TTC, and walked to the AK bus area, and waited yet again. It took me about 45 mins to get from MK to AK that way.
When I walk to the CR, it takes about 30 mins.

I could be wrong but I believe that the last time I stayed at the POly they often shared buses with CR.

I have had the same experience with the CR buses sharing with another resort - I would not let that stop me from using this way to get AK though.

Due to route changes to accommodate AoA, buses from CR to DAK may now stop at both Poly & GF en route. It will depend on the time of day.

Thanks everyone for the great information. Now for the stupid question. How do I walk to Contemporary Resort? :confused3 I've been to Disneyworld so many times but I've never stayed at a MK area resort and always use our car so I've no idea how to walk there. I suppose I go left when I get out of MK (opposite from the monorail) correct? How many minutes would you say it would take to walk there? Is there a sign saying where to walk? And lastly, I suppose my mom could use her scooter on this "walk"?

Duh, I feel so Dopey.

I know that Robo has a map around here somewhere, but it was easier to make my own than to find his. :goodvibes

There is a walking path that follows the path that I have outlined on the map below (Click the map for a larger version). I believe that there are signs, I know I saw one on the Contemporary end. It's about a 10 minute walk, depending on your walking speed.

When you leave MK, and walk towards the bus area, stay to the far left. You will see a sidewalk that runs beneath the monorail line. You will walk out of the MK, then cross a street. Be sure to cross with the walk signal..this road can get busy. Then, you're at the CR parking lot. Walk to the front of the CR and there are the buses. Takes under 10 mins...usually takes me about 8 mins. Scooters can absolutely use the walkway.

Thanks, between the visual and the directions, we should make it no problem. Thank you once again. Can't wait.
