OK, everyone gave me great advice on attacking AK. Which paths to take, what's the best way to get the most bang for my buck, especially when park opens.
Also, anything you would put on the secondardy list - not on the don't miss list?

Thanks :confused3

well what we do.Get there right when the park opens hit the big attractions in tomorrowland. Then go to fantasyland all the big rides there and mickey's philhar magic then eat early lunch at columbia harbour house. While some go get FP's for splash and big thunder ( oh yea we also get them at space earlier in the day)

I have heard it is best to go left when you enter the park not right because everyone goes right. Is that true?

this may be true. But my opinion is go ahead and wait in the decent lines early in the day at buzz and space and the fantasyland attractions. Instead of Walking on POTC,Jungle Cruise. But that is my opinion if you go to the left i am sure it would be like a ghost town.

I read somewhere that this is actually a myth. It might have been over at the TouringPlans.com Web site.

My question is this: What's the fastest way to Fantasyland? Straight thru the castle, or veering around to the right or left?

Send someone to get fp's for everyone in your group for Space Mountain then head and down Pirates and thunder and splash. Waits for those rides grow as the afternoon goes by.

The unoffical guide says this doesn't work at DW. It talks abou it in the book.

There are a few problems with going left at park opening in my experience. The Jungle Cruise is not operating for at least an hour after the park opens, I think the Tiki Birds open late as well, and the last two times I've visited the park, the Haunted Mansion has been closed early in the morning ("temporary breakdown" according to the CM at the enterance.) I do not recommend begining the day by going to the left.

Enjoy.

We went on a July day when the Unofficial Guide rated the crowd level at "8." We were on hand at the rope drop and headed straight through the castle to Fantasyland. Peter Pan, Pooh, and Snow White were walk-ons. We then headed to the Haunted Mansion (our girls' favorite) for a ten minute wait, then back to Fantasyland for Mickey's Philharmagic. By then, the crowds were starting to pour in, so we stuck to the touring plan and made the most of the day. Getting there at opening was the KEY. The girls had a ton of fun during that first hour with very little waiting. The rest of the day were fast-passes sandwiched around a couple of 45 minute waits.

Here is the best way to attack MK (especially if your going there more than once and/or live around WDW and go all the time) Learn to mingle with the cast members, especially the ones in the shops, like cashiers and sales people. Ive been to MK around 15 times in the past 3 yrs with my aut & uncle and this past time my parents & sis also came along. Disney is a fun place, so most cast members like it when you joke around with them. So my aunt, uncle made friends with a few people, so as they became friendlier...the cast members starting giving them more tips and then they gave them the best fastpass you can get! (i hope i dont get in trouble for talking about these!) but they gave my aunt & uncle a bunch of "general fastpasses". These special fastpasses allowed us to immeadiatly get in any fast pass line, at any time, has much as we wanted. These work on any ride that have a fastpass line, and even some that dont! :thumbsup2

Be there at opening.
Pick up FP to Peter Pan as you head for Dumbo.
Ride IASW, hopefully Philharmagic.
If fast pass time for PP, ride PP.
FP Pooh, or ride Pooh.
Ride teacups ..
Then go to HM.
Feel like Hall of Presidents? If not backtrack to Pooh and ride if you FPassed it.
Do all attractions in Frontierland.
Ride Train to Toontown. Walk thru Toontown -- faster if no little kids but at least check out Mickey's house. :teeth:
Go towards Tomorrowland. FP Space Mountain.
Do some other rides in Tomorrowland until Space fast pass.
If near dinnertime and haven't gotten wet yet and are going back to hotel, once done in Tomorrowland it is a great time to go back to Splash and get a little wet for ride back to hotel. WHEW!!!

Unfortunately this almost looks Commando Style -- maybe try to fit in a little time shopping on Main Street! Don't wear yourselves out. We made MK a two day event our first time there ... and there are still some things I missed!

Good lunch places we ate at are Columbia Harbor House and Pinnochio Village Haus.

TourGuideMike has great touring info., it worked great for us on our July trip! Never waited more than 10 minutes for any attraction (with the acception of show at MGM)

I think the best way to tackle MK is by getting there REAL early, the lines are very short, we usually wait a mere 10 min for Splash Mtn. when we get there real early. :bounce:

Please get the UG and study their plans. I think you'll find that arriving early is key, and following the UG plans will be a big help. Many people do not want to get up early on their vacations, and that's where your advantage is.:earsboy:

what's a UG.....universal guide, ugly girl, unicorn galley....?????? :confused3

I have only been to the world once but I learned my lesson that one time. I made a plan of what rides were a must at the park and we went commando to get to the rides. Bad move. I needed a vacation when I got home. Our next trip this may will be relaxed. We didnt even get to enjoy the beauty of downtown MK. This time is going to be different no commando just FP's as we can.

Its great to hear how everyone tackles MK becuase there are so many different ways to do it. We go straight to buzz, then space, then fantasyland attractions, then go round to get FP in Frontierland for either splash or thunder and ride the other one, have lunch, then do pirates and jungle cruise.... so we make our way around the park that way. I can think of better ways to do it to get the most out of using FP's however we have done the above way many times and its kind of a tradition now so i would be worried if we did it any other way incase it didnt work.

It is true. Everyone has their own plan that works for them. If you are planning on going during a busy period and you do not have small children, I recommend going straight through Cinderella's Castle and hit all the rides in Fantasyland or go through Tomorrowland to get a FP for Space Mountain and then head up to Fantasyland. We start in the back of Fantasyland with Peter Pan because the line for that ride can get long. Then IASW. Then work our way down toward Tomorrowland. We usually skip Philharmagic because we can do that later in the day. Usually, you can do all of Fantasyland in a short amount of time and it is nicer than later in the day when it gets very crowded.

Also, since the updates to PoTC, I think we are going to plan out another morning where we can get there early. We are going in December and I am assuming the lines are going to be long. Using that strategy, we could get a FP for Splash, go on PoTC, then head up to Fantasyland.
