We are driving to MK from Universal for a day. With the parking lot trams not working, what is the best way to limit as much parking lot walking for my mother. She is having some issues with her back right now but it’s not a disability, just a flare up so it bothers her to walk long distances all at once. We’d like limit that walk as much as possible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate!

getting there as early as possible so you are as close as possible. do not use the medical parking behind the handicapped as that walk out is slightly uphill and seems to take forever. if possible I would rent from an offsite rental a wheelchair. use to get to either the ferry or monorail. park it in stroller parking area in each land of park and then you have to get back to car and end of day which is worse than the walk in. not my back but a knee and I have used this.

What is your plan for once you are in the park? Are you planning on renting a scooter or wheelchair in the park? The walk from the parking lot to the gate is chump change compared to the walking you will need to do in the parks.

We are looking into renting a wheelchair inside the park so she has something when the walk gets to be too much. After reading all the comments about the walk from the parking lot since the trams aren’t running has us worried she’s really going to struggle.

Rent an ECV. We pushed my mom around Universal and that was hard! Thankfully, my dad insisted that they rent an ECV for Disney and it was so much better everyone.

Edit: it's usually cheaper to rent from an outside company for several days than to rent from a Disney park.

I agree with the renting the ECV. Unless your Mom is a super petite lady or you have a strong healthy person to push her all day, I would just rent an ECV for the week that will fit in your trunk. There are companies that will drop it off your resort and pick it up at the end of the week. You will appreciate having it around City Walk if you are staying on property at Universal.
