MK Opening Ceremony...

They do not do the BIG opening ceremony on EMH mornings (only regular 9am mornings), so if you get a chance to get over there on a non EMH morning you will be able to see it (which of course Christmas week every morning is an EMH morning.)
What happens is that the Mayor (or some other "Citizen of Main Street") will come out to the front of the train station to greet everyone. Then the dancers come out and do a cute little dance. The mayor then let's you know that all the characters are on their way up from Toon Town and the Steam Train pulls in loaded with characters. The characters will get off the train and Mickey and "the first family" (choosen completely random) will do the official countdown and then there are confetti cannons that will go off over the crowd and they will open the park. The characters will then go to Town Square and sign autographs and take pictures. It is a really fun opening and quite impressive with the use of the train.
On EMH morning it is just a taped speil welcoming you to the park. No characters, no train... They used to do it every morning, but they found that there were not enough people waiting right at EMH opening time and with the park already being open for EMH guests it was difficult to let non-emh guests in prior to opening time and hold them in front of the train station for the show.
Hubby works on the train, if I hear any different for this year I will let you know
