MK in May?

Is the MK normally to crowded in May to enjoy yourself? The reason I ask is because we went in August last year and we basically walked in and right back out because it was sooo crowded that it felt hard to breath and it was like everyone was stepping on each other to get around. I hated it. I would however like to give it another chance but I dont want to spend that much money only to have to walk in and out again.

we just came back from the airport to buy our tickets for Mother's Day weekend, and we're hoping it isn't too bad. We went in May in 1997 and the crowds were good; there were a lot of people but we were able to do everything we wanted and this was way before the Animal Kingdom was opened and no one had heard of the Fast Pass.
I'm interested to hear if anyone has any thoughts about the crowds for Mother's Day weekend, when we will be there!!

We have been at WDW the past two Mays. In the middle in 2001 and the beginning of 2002 and never encountered more than a 20 minute wait for anything except to see Ariel. We used fast pass and did great.

We were there in 2001 for Mother's Day and the following week and the crowds were not bad at all. We only stood in line the maximum of about 15 minutes for anything. The weather was really nice (we're from Alabama so we can somewhat take the heat) and the waiting wasn't bad.

I don't think you should have a problem if the weather cooperates. Good Luck!

May is an awesome time to go!!!! You will be shocked at how slow it is!!! It is great !!! Have fun!!

I am so glad to hear that! We will be arriving at WDW on 5/3 and my 4 year old hates standing in line. What's worse, my husband hates standing in line! We went to Disneyland for a day last year and I don't know who's complaining got on my nerves more!!

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble here, but I just got off the phone with Disney Dining, and the Cast Member was saying that during the time I'll be there (May 3-13) that it will be busy. As a matter of fact, I couldn't get many of the priority seatings that I wanted. That said, it still probably won't be overcrowded, but you should realize that this May in particular, it will probably be busier than usual. Please don't go to Disney thinking it's going to be practically empty. I am quoting the castmember who said "we've been going nuts here. I don't know, maybe people decided to come thinking it wouldn't be busy. In any event, we've been overwhelmed with requests for May." I've got 10 more days to find out

should realize that this May in particular, it will probably be busier than usual. Please don't go to Disney thinking it's going to be practically empty.

I would also add that whilst I enjoyed my first May trip to WDW last year the crowds were more than I was used to - I used to go October and November. My DBF used to go in August and he thought the May crowds were fantastically low. We still had to stand in line and everyone should be prepared for that, but again I don't think we stood in line for longer than 20 mins.

I wonder if people are somewhat leary of international travel, somewhat weary of the war (even though its been pretty short), and Disney seems like a nice pick-me-up. Not to mention, they seem to be promoting themselves everywhere. Air fares are lower than I've ever paid before, too.
We just got the itch all the sudden- maybe the rest of the world did, too.
I will pull out the unofficial guide touring plans if the crowds are really big.

We had some trouble with PSs for a last minute trip but the only ones that were really booked up were the most popular places like Chef Mickeys and of course the both of the Princess' breakfasts. However, we had no problem getting PSs for Breakfastasourus, Ohanas breakfast, Kona Breakfast, Cape May, CP and PrimeTime and we are a party of 10.
My gut feeling though is that some people were making double PS because of the uncertainty of the hours and now that Spectro and FIS have shown up on the schedule as well as some longer hours that will open some PSs. I have heard that WDW does change its hours depending on expected crowd size but I still don't think it is going to be like peak time.

We were there last May and other than the weekends, I didn't think the crowds were bad. We'll be there again this May 3-11, so hopefully they'll be about the same, though we'll deal with whatever they're like.

As I mentioned in a previous thread, I'll be sporting a lime green ribbon this trip, so if you spot me just say "Hey....Star Wars Guy!".

Hi, we will be there also from May 3rd to May 11th, we will stay at AS for the first night (no room avail ar CSR for the first night) and after at the Coronado Spring.
My son who's presently living in Florida are planning our visit. He already made our restaurant reservation. It will be a surprise for us to see the agendas he is planning for us.
We went at Christmas 2002 and it was not so bad. Excepting for Xmas, week between xmas and new year eves.
We went on January 2nd until Jan 10 and the waiting time was 10-20 minutes.
My son told me that WDW is busy since beginning of March.
The weather overthere is beautiful if we compare to what we have in Montreal Quebec right now. Still have snow in my backyard.
That trip is a family reunion because I bring all my childrens and 1 grandson to visit my other son.
Only 11 dodos to have.
I wish you will have a great time overthere and maybe we can meet if you stay in the same hotel.

I will also be going to WDW 5/3-5/10. I was told that it's not to bad. Florida students are still in school and many parents don't like to take their kids out of school so late in the year. I have a 3 and 5 year old so that did not matter to me.

We will be there the 8th-11th and had no trouble with PS for crys. P, ohana, and 1 more DW did them can't remember and she made them last week!!!
Can't wait for some fun in the Disney sun!

Im not holding up well at all. I simply just cant wait to go. BUT since my last post I read on another thread that IOA ( I will be there on Thursday ) has been very crowded. I was wanting to avoid that at all costs. Thats why I picked May. Gosh I hope its not gonna be THAT bad. And Im a little apprehensive about the plane ride down but other than those 2 little setbacks Im looking forward to it. Hey Deah you are going down b4 me, write me back and let me know how it is. Please, Please, so you can help ease my misery and worry over the crowds. LOL

Ok I will But I think it will be fine. I have been in may before and it was wonderful!! All the holidays are over and it is the last few weeks of school for most kids and parents are more reluctant to take their children out of school for vaction in the last weeks. They are more likely to do so earlier. Last time we went in may we only waited in line like one or two times and each time I think was like 15 minutes. I will write back to you on it though when I get back though!!!! Wait though... I will not be back before you leave but I will try to post to you from epcot...can't you do it there???
