So I have a giant (for me at least) Birthday trip coming up. Aug 22nd through 30th. 4 nights at poly 4 nights at Grand Floridian. I have multiple friends coming up throughout the trip to visit. But this question pertains to August 24th Wednesday and 25th Thursday. I have a friend coming those dates who is a disney newbie. And want to make sure we do the best we can. My original plan was to Hit Animal kingdom or DHS on the 24th during the day. Then I have V&A reservations at 7:30 and then hit up MK after since it's open until 1AM. Since I love the park at night. Keep in mind I scattered some important fast passes long in advance for myself but left those days open. Then we would return the morning of the 25th to MK. take a break. And go to either AK or DHS for the second evening. However, I'm surprised at how booked up the FP+ system is for MK on thursday the 25th. On the 24th I was able to get my pick of everything fairly early in the day (besides mine train which is no great loss for me) . But that's an EMH evening day. Normally I would avoid hitting MK on a EMH day. But now I'm confused. Do you think that well timed fast passes and the extra hours at night on Wednesday mean that we should just dedicate the whole day to MK on wednesday? Also could lack of FP+ availability on thursday mean it's going to be a heavier trafficked day than normal? Just thought I'd pick the experts brains out there.

I think a first timer would get more enjoyment from staying in one park for a while than in spending a lot of time on Disney transportation.

AK is my least favorite of all the parks.

In his/her shoes I would prefer to spend a whole day at either the MK or Epcot.

For a newbie, I'd try to let them experience the different parks. Certainly MK would be my focal point, but I'd still want them to get a taste of all the different parks. Personally, I've never worried or cared about what day has EMH. Frankly, on most of our trips we don't even look at which park has it or are oblivious to it. It hasn't made any difference in how we've been able to tour.

Keep in mind that a lot of schools will already have started by then which will help keep crowd levels down. I agree with PP do what you want without worrying about EMH days.

And don't forget, staying up for a 1 am late EMH means getting to bed around 2 am. What time are you planning to get up for the next day's joys?

I don't think that Evening EMH affects attendance in the park as much as morning ones do. We usually avoid the park that has the morning EMH but we always go to MK when they have the evening ones...I think it's one of the best times to get on rides quickly, and moreso when it's late late (like starting at 11 or midnight vs. 9 or 10pm).

And I think you shouldn't skip Epcot with a friend that has never been before.

Thanks so much guys. I'll stick with the plan to do MK all day on Wednesday. Take a break for dinner and then Back to the park for the extra hours. And he actually has been to Epcot before. So we are skipping it. Also the restrictive fast pass tiers at Epcot in my opinion make it harder to do most of the park in a short time. On Wednesday we should be able to get most attractions at MK done especially with FP+ for Splash, Space, and Peter Pan. The next morning we have FP+ for Tower of Terror, Star Tours, and Rocking Roller Coaster. Then we will head to AK later in the evening, probably without fast passes unless we can get an extra. But from what I hear the lines at AK late at night haven't been too bad.
