Since mom and I had the spare time for a few weeks before my new job starts, we thought it would be a swell idea to take a day trip to Disney to see Magic Kingdom and a few of the resorts decorated for the holidays. So this TR will be just a few pictures and a dining review.
Anyway, we went to Magic Kingdom because it's so magical during the holidays!
We saw the tree. It's a very big tree.

and we saw the Castle. It's so pretty!

For lunch we ate at Columbia Harbor House and used the mobile ordering for lobster rolls. I liked mine so much I ordered a second one.

There are some big chunks of lobster in this thing. There's also some big lettuce in this thing, but I digress.
We went on a few rides, Pirates of the Caribbean especially, because I use the Play Disney Parks app and if you ride Pirates, you earn a digital achievement!
But even better, some digital achievements have physical pins associated with it that you can purchase. You have to show your achievement on your phone to the cashier in order to buy it but here it is!

We also rode Jingle Cruise and y'all, it met my expectations of cheesy holiday themed jokes. I loved it!
On our way out of the park, we were able to purchase a MVMCP pin as well, so here's that:

Oh! Right. Earlier that day we walked around New Fantasyland because I've never seen it before. We marveled at Seven Dwarves Mine Train. We rode Little Mermaid. and we had a FP to meet Rapunzel and Tiana! My time with Rapunzel was mostly spent talking to her about how wonderful of an animal sidekick Pascal is (it's true, he is). She was absolutely delightful and so nice to talk to. Then I met Tiana and when I told her I've never had shrimp and grits before, she nearly fainted. (I have photo pass proof of this) She also was an absolute delight to talk to and we mostly talked about cajun food since that's her specialty.
Okay, that ties into our ADR, believe it or not. We left MK for our ADR at Grand Floridian Cafe. We rode the boat over to the Grand Floridian and arrived to our reservation about 30 minutes early. For personal reasons that I won't get into, since I had been at the park for much of the day, I needed a substance you can't purchase unless you're now 21 and over (you know what I mean. you do it outdoors. fire is involved. you get it. No sooner did I sit down at the outside area, the skies opened up and it began to POUR! Literally buckets of rain. We felt so bad for anyone at MK because they were probably scattering to get indoors somewhere. We also felt really bad for the resort staff who had to wheel room service orders to the outer buildings.
Alrighty, so I feel better after what I needed to do, so we go to check into our reservation and then we wait.....and wait.....and wait.....and finally my phone buzzes.
We were seated in the back room of GFC and could see Cinderealla's Castle but mostly saw people scurrying through the rain. Guests and staff.
Here's my appetizer. Y'all, I ordered a grilled salad.

It's seriously grilled! It's served chilled but you can totally taste like a charcoal grill flavor on the lettuce and the veggies. It was so weird but so good! The dressing was nice and light, also, but that grill flavor just blew me away.
For the main course, I ordered, yep, shrimp and grits!

Along with a side of scallops. Y'all, lemme tell ya, this dish was life changing! It was absolutely amazing! The scallops were fantastic, the shrimp was fantastic, the sauce was fantastic. This dish changed my life. I get what the hype is all about.
For dessert, mom ordered the key lime tart

Okay, we're key lime snobs after living in Florida for a while. We like our key lime tart, and this key lime dessert was not tart. It was very very good, don't get me wrong! But it was Disney key lime. It had wide appeal. It was very pleasing and sweet without being too tart. The presentation was gorgeous.
And the I ordered the chocolate fondue.

Okay, so let's talk about this. The pineapple in chocolate is a total miss. The strawberries in chocolate is good I guess on Valentine's Day (wink, wink). However, the bananas in chocolate was heavenly. The angel food cake in chocolate was heavenly. and the campfire roasted marshmallows in chocolate was down right divine. Overall, this dessert was more hit than miss and I would absolutely order it again. In fact, everything we ate that night we would order again. The food was absolutely fantastic!
Then right as we were almost done with dessert, the MK fireworks began, so that was neat being able to watch it from our table.
Then we hopped an Uber over to Wilderness Lodge because I wanted mom to see what WL looks like during the holidays but I think she's partial to Grand Floridian.
Then we hopped another Uber back to the TTC to get back to our car and headed home. (I tried booking a Minnie Van but I guess they stop after a certain time? Regular Uber was cheaper, anyway. Both rides cost what one Minnie Van trip would have cost)
The end.
