I am so up and down about this because I have finally gotten myself into a weight loss routine and we have just finalized some very last minute plans and we will be going to Disneyworld staying at OKW for 5 days!

I am happy to go, but stressing over what I will eat as I have been doing well on low carb/Atkins. I am stressing on where to eat. I am almost at the weight I was when we went on vacation last year when I started to gain back everything I had worked so hard to lose. I know I won’t do that again; I just don’t know how or where I will be eating.

What a roller coaster of emotion for me. I need to put this aside so I can enjoy our trip.

In the words of the Wise Nativetxn....HAVE a PLAN!!!!

All you have to do is DECIDE what you want to do. For example:

During MK day...I KNEW I was going to have a Dole Whip...but that did not mean at breakfast it was a free -for - all..it just ment that I was having a dole whip and staying OP.

Breakfast and dinners are pretty simple especailly on Atkins...
Snacking and desserts can get a bit tricky...just remind yourself if you CHOOSE to cheat that its OKAY!!! You just need to REMIND yourself...EVERYDAY that this is not how you eat EVERYDAY...and when you get home...(DAY 6) you need to get back on plan...the longer you wait the harder it gets!!!

Things DO NOT have to turn out the way they always did. This time CAN be different it is up to you to decide if this is for the rest of your life, or for 5 days. Do you have an exercise routine??? Would you be able to do some "exercising" while you are away? I know that most walk more than normal....but I suggest taking 15, 20 or even 30 mins...and do a "workout" of some kind over and beyond the normal WDW walking.

Good Luck...and Let us know how you are doing.

You are staying at OKW!!!! That means at a minimum you will have a fridge and microwave in your room and if you are staying in a 1 bedroom or larger you will have an entire kitchen!!!! DBF and I like to go to Publix and pick up a rotisserie chicken. We have it for dinner one night and then I take the meat off the bones and make chicken salad for lunches. Plan on going to a really nice place to eat once or twice during your trip and then stay OP at all other times.

Have a plan!!! You CAN do this, enjoy the vacation and NOT gain the weight back.

Good Luck!

I just love OKW. I was lucky enough to be able to stay there with KarenNY and another friend, Taryn in February, 2002. We had a ball!

Make good use of one of those gorgeous pools at OKW for a work out. I don't know if they have a work out room or not.

Tracy is right. You need a plan. Make sure you have macadamia nuts, diet drinks, cheese, sliced ham, mayo...all in your room for any munchies you may have.

I really didn't have problems staying Atkins legal when I was there in May. I truly didn't want anything that contained refined carbohydrates. I have no idea why that happened but it did. You can always have a hotdog or hamburger without a bun. There is an awesome sandwich at the Coral Cafe at the Dolphin, I think it's called the Island Paradise--crab meat, shrimp, avocado, bean sprouts--I like it better without the bun and they are happy to serve it that way, it's really pretty without the bun, too. I always ordered a side of mayo and olive oil with it. They gave me strawberries instead of the chips or fries. Rats! Now, I'm hungry for that!

You get 20% discount at the Coral Cafe with your DVC membership, I learned that from KarenNY :teeth:

Don't obsess about your meals. Just make the best choices you can. Get your plan all ready and do the best you can.

I'll bet you do great. Are you in ketosis? That is what saved me in May, I think. I had no appetite and no cravings. Let's hope that is still true if I get to make my August trip.

Just remember that the most important thing is to have as much fun as you can and to make magical memories. Memories are our most valuable possessions :)

I still say it's not fair that you look so much younger than I do ;)
