Mixed Group of DLR Hotel Guests and non-Guests - How do Perks Work?

Five of us will be staying at the GCH this summer for four days. My DS18 just told me he and his friend are thinking about joining us for a day or two. So I may get a cheap Harbor hotel for them for a night.

I am wondering how the DLR hotel perks work for a mixed group with some guests at a DLR hotel and some not. Specifically:

1. Use of the GCH entrance to DCA in the morning - Can they come with us? Does each person have an individual hotel ID like at WDW or is it a group thing? Does Disney care?

2. Magic Morning - same question as #1

It seems that I could work around #2 pretty easily if necessary by having DS18 and friend be assigned to our room (and hence getting the MM privilege) and un-assigning DW and DS17 - whereby they could just use the MM that comes on their 5 day parkhopper ticket for one specific MM day. But that sounds like a bit of a hassle.

:)

Not sure about question 1 as I've never used the GC entrance but the answer to number 2 is No. If they aren't staying they do not qualify of MM.

Umm, I actually remember being told that the room key is good for you and up to 5 guests so I believe it should work.

#1. Only those with a "key to the Magic" can use the DCA entrance in the AM along with the PH. Saw a number of people who were denied entrance without that key. No group deal here.

#2. Same goes for MM, with out that key they will not let people in. Same experience as above, folks being turned away.

As stated watched a number of misinformed people try what you have posted and they were turneed away.

Well, we were at VGC in Dec - five of us, so yes, we all had "keys to magic" but when we went through GCH entrance for the 30 minute early opening, I had my key out and said they were with me and no one else had to get theirs out. Something with MM at DL. Now we would not have been turned away since we were all staying there but no one else pulled theirs out. I would call the GCH and confirm.

Just got off the phone and the CM stated "You need to show the key for admittance to both". The entrance CM's are supposed to be checking. Trey, I would get your own answer to this question to be comfortable.

If you add them to your room, instead of DW and DS17, will you have to pay for an extra adult in the room if they are 18? (for the one replacing DS17 anyway) Not sure about DLR, but at WDW that's the way.

Good question but based on my discussion with reservations the answer is no. If it were somehow an extra charge I could take DW and myself off the room and still have two adults. :)

My purpose was not to skirt the rules just clarify the rules. If the two extras are not allowed I will work around it. I think it will not be an issue but justed wanted to know. Thanks. :)

Boy, you are going to be squeeky tight in that room.

Well, when I booked it I thought we would only have four on this trip. Then it turned into five. Now maybe seven. Yes, I know we will be tight and the rooms are not that big at the GCH.

I have had second thoughts about trying harder for the Villas per our previous dicsussions. But I think too much is up in the air. I would hate to switch to the Villas (if that is even an option anymore) and then have our group drop back to four. So I think we are going to power out with the current plan and make the best of it. :)

So this is different than the way the DLR hotels used to work where you had to show a check in slip of paper for your entire group?

Are the "Keys to the Magic" specific by name or age?

I have the same issue as HG for my trip in August. My group has an odd combination of offsite/onsite hotels and 3 day and 2 day tickets. Unfortunately, the two people offsite do not have the 3 day tickets.

I'm just seeing if we can move "Keys to the Magic" around to get everyone in for MM.
