Hi all,
We have several vegans (eat no meat or dairy products :sunny: ) and also a few meat-lovin' fools ( :rotfl: ) in our party. We are familiar with the restaurants in MK and Epcot, but we're not sure which places in AK and DS are the best for "mixed company" like our group. Does anyone have suggestions about CS or TS in these two parks that might have the best vegetarian/vegan options, but also serve some yummy "dead flesh" :drinking1 :sad2: :crazy2: :rotfl2: for my dh, sister, niece, brother, and dad?? We want to stick together :grouphug: but all have tasty things to eat! Thanks!
Signed,
Vegan Mom :cheer2:

The best places for mixed groups are the California Grill and Jiko. Both have innovative menu's with vegan, ovo-lacto, and meat entree's.

How about Mama Melrose in MGM? They offer some yummy-looking non-meat options. I haven't looked at the menus in a while, so I am not sure how many things would be completely vegan (as opposed to veg only). I ALSO want to think Tusker House serves a veggie sandwich of some kind?

You might check out the online menus at allearsnet.com

Good luck!

I've been flirting around with veganism myself; it's tough to find options sometimes. Even a lot of the vegetable soups are made with chicken stock; the Veggie Lo Mein at Pop Century is made with egg noodles. Then there are some things where they fry something in oil that's been used for chicken, or something like that; stuff may or may not matter to someone depending on how strict a vegan the person is and what the basis for their eating is (i.e., health vs. moral vs. whatever.) Best to ask, the CMs are usually very helpful, particularly if you offer an explanation as to why you're asking.

At Studios:

Mama Melroses will work with you. The menu changes a bit, so it's hard to say what you'll run into, but I have had them on a number of occasions just take my request to make up something with pasta, tomato sauce, onions, peppers, and veggies and it's come off very well. (The bruschetta is a good appetizer, BTW, check and make sure to leave off the cheese if someone is going strictly vegan.)

50's Prime Time has a vegtarian stuffed pepper that's pretty good.

Back Lot Express makes a grilled veggie sandwich. It comes with a cream cheese spread, but they'll leave it off if you ask.

ABC Commessary has a tabbouleh wrap I like quite a bit.

AK:

I have a generally bad opinion of park food at AK (even from a non-vegan perspective) so I can't offer much here. One exception: the "natural burger" at Rainforest is just great, one of the best meatless burgers I've had.

Hope this helps.
