Misty Mates?

Are misty mates really worth it? I had never heard of them before. We're goin in three weeks and I'm worried about the heat since its been crazy hot down there. We went in August last year and I was fine with just a little fan. Are they heavy? I will be carrying my brita bottle and a small purse. I don't want to over load myself!
