Mister Disney's Blue Zoo Review....and a few insights on Swan & Dolphin

Mister Disney you have made a believer out of me. We will be eating at The Blue Zoo on our next trip. The food just looks fantastic. Thanks for the great review. :)

Wow...it's 10am here and I'm craving crab claws and tuna tartare...I so hope to be able to go there on our trip in Oct. If I have to go alone, i will!

I also agree with whomever said, you had me at martini! LOL...

The "chips" where super crunchy (almost as good as crunchy tidbits in the bottom of the McDonald French Fry containers)

:thumbsup2 Great line! Now I have a craving for the bottom of McD's fries!

Long Arms, close camera.....no standing
I had this GREAT mental image of you standing in your chair...
balanced precariously on the edge...
arms stretched over the table...
:rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:
Discrete just isn't as much fun!!!

Thought you were setting precedent for the Disney Dining Photo Thread!

I have to agree with you about the Dolphin and Swan. We recently stayed there. They give a gov discount so I figured why not? Well, as you stated there is nothing Disney about these resorts. I could have been in Newark. No charging privledges on your room key in the parks, no Mickey wake up calls, no package delivery from the parks. I had to call 6x for bedrails (no not for me ) and I had to call several times for cribs. Fresh I found to be disappointing. I guess I was expecting something out there and special ~ it was just an average breakfast buffet. Yeah they had specialty juices but their pre made and living in NY where you can get custom juices that you make up I was expecting something similar. The yogurt parfaits where also premade not for you to do your own mix ins. The specialty pancakes I was really looking forward to they were the same all week ~strawberry banana. Nothing special no chunks of fruit, the pancakes were just pink. No special syrups ( I mean even IHOP has them) I just felt they could have really had an outragous breakfast buffet but they fell short. My family will not be be back discount or no discount. I guess I'm Disney spoiled and if I'm in WDW then I'm at a WDW resort. Except no cheap imitations.

PS Sorry for the ramble can't wait for the dessert portion of tonights program ;)

What a great review - very indepth and I loved seeing the pics. Blue Zoo is our favorite restaurant. You made me feel like I was sitting right at the table.

About the Dolphin. We've stayed there twice and I have to say we had the opposite impression/experience. We were treated as good, if not better, than at the disney owned properties. We don't deal with valet people so I can't comment on that. We self-park. Housekeeping always did a top notch job and our room was always clean by 10:00 a.m. The pool was great and the Swan and Dolphin IMHO have some of the best food on property. Blue Zoo, Shulas, Fresh, Kimonos. Even the Cabana Pool Bar & Grille...the best burgers on property. They serve good coffee too.

Great pictures and I enjoyed your review.

We've only dined there once. My husband's fish wasn't all that great so with those prices, it is not on his list of places to return to anytime soon. It's a shame though as the rest of us had wonderful meals. One of these trips. :teeth:

Great review and pictures Mr. Disney. We've yet to try Blue Zoo, maybe before our cruise next January we'll try it.

My wife and I have eaten at Bluezoo twice now, and the most recent time (October) blew us both away. I am a food-and-wine guy (a sommelier in real life) and loved this restaurant. Some interesting wines by the glass. I agree with the scallops/shortrib. Awesome stuff. My favorite item on the menu is the Cantonese Fried Lobster. I'm sorry you missed desert, as I feel this is the best of the Bluezoo offerings! My Key Lime "Pie" was served with Margarita Sorbet and was simply awesome... if you've not been to Bluezoo, go.

Well you just brought back some mouthwatering memories for me there Mr. Disney, I can vouch for the breads and the scallop/beef appetiser, both out of this world :thumbsup2 Great pics and review,
Claire xx

Outstanding review. We will have to try this one on our trip in 2007. (We have all our ADR's for our June '06 trip set up and no one in the family is willing to make any changes). All three appetizers look fantastic. Thanks again for this review; looking forward to all of them.

I am also eagerly awaiting the desserts! :cloud9:

I wanted to ask: did you attempt to use package delivery yourself?
I ask because I asked this question a few months ago and I was told they *did* to package delivery. I even saw "Swan" and "Dolphin" on the slip when I used package delivery to the Poly last December. I just called the Swan/Dolphin and they told me they will do package delivery, but to Bell Services not to your room. Maybe its a change? When did you go? Thanks!

Thanks for the review, Mr Disney. We have not yet been to Blue Zoo, but know it is a must try, now that we have your approval. :thumbsup2

Ditto!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good grief, I did not think anything could make me hanker for shellfish at 9:15 in the morning!!!!!!!! Now I will think about it all day!

As always Mr. Disney, your reviews are beyond compare. I am mostly a lurker, but definitely a member of your fan club (or have we advanced to cult status now?) ;) ;)

I fell much better knowing you weren't standing on the table to get that shot....what we do for food porn! Without becoming barb-b-qued any children there? We are planing on Thankgiving here since we have all wanted to try it and my 9yo eats her weight in scallops!
