Mistaken DISer Identity

Has something like this ever happened to you?

I'm a grad student at a local school and there is this girl in my class who is always wearing something Mickey. First it was a Mickey backpack, then I noticed earrings and watch, and last week she had a Mickey thumb ring. Nothing wrong with that. We were all sitting waiting for the professor to arrive and I happened to notice her shoes -- white Nike's with lime green swooshes. I debated for a minute or two asking her if she was a DISer (a lot of Mickeys, plus lime green, I almost assumed she was!). When I asked her about it though, she looked at me like I was crazy! She had never heard of the DISboards and picked the shoes because she liked green. I felt like such a dork!

So, ever had a case of mistaken DISer identity?

I was in front of CoP in the MK a few weeks ago and saw a family of three all dressed in lime green shirts standing next to a stroller with a lime green Mickey head attached, so I approached them and told them they were my 1st DIS sighting all week. They looked at me like I was crazy. Turns out it wasn't their stroller and they were just wearing matching green shirts to keep track of one another.

I know! That's what I thought! She mentioned at another time she did her undergrad in Minnesota, so I wondered if she moved here because of WDW. Weird that she had never heard of the DIS!

Similar thing happened to me in June... family of about 5 in lime green shirts... I casually approached the Mom & said "Dis??" She just stared blankly at me, I muttered "nevermind" & slinked away...

same thing happened to me this past september at mgm. lime green t shirts. i thought they were certainly a dis family. they werent, and i kind of made myself scarce pretty fast.

LOL! How many police reports have been filed regarding fanatical Disney folks wispering "DIS?" to people then slinking away! We're a suspicious bunch.

and here i posted pics of dw and i's Fancy t shirts, the dates and parksa where we would be and only a couple of disers spoike,, and that was after sevreal phone calls back and forth since wewere sposed to be meeting them there,,lol

When I was in MK this past Winter I thouht I saw a Dis'er. Unfortunately I was with my DD in a stall in the bathroom and all I saw were lime green crocs going by - I yelled out "LIME GREEN CROCS ARE YOU FROM THE DIS?" and the Crocs just moved a wee bit faster - away from me of course...

Same thing happened to us at Magic Kingdom. A whole family in lime green but they had no idea what I was talking about.

I wear my DIS button that has my user name on it and I saw someone with what I thought was a DIS button on thier backpack . I walked up to them at the WL , and said "Hi am Mad4Mickey" and they looked at me like I had 3 heads . It was a lime green button the same size as the Dis ones but it said some phrase on it LOL I turned red everytime we saw them at the hotel .

yes, i also had this experience. that was the first and last time i have ever done that.
