 I just read in another thread that Mission Space has a mild side. Is that new? I don't remember it last year. I rode it once in Nov. and decided once was enough. But maybe I should try the mild side - can you really tell a difference?

Yes, it's new. :) I haven't ridden it yet but the mild side (the "green" side) does not spin so there is not that crushing take-off effect.

Try it - you'll like it! Feedback I've had from guests regarding the "less intense" version has been almost all positive.

This new version also has the enclosed dark space so if you're concerned about that then pass it by. Otherwise, the video is the same and the simulator-like effect is very good.

Enjoy.

To those of you who have taken your children, how did young ones handle it, ages 6, 7 and 8ish?

I haven't taken DD on the green version (yet), but she liked the regular version last year- she was 8.

I've only been on the intense version and I don't LOVE LOVE it...I like it. I am looking forward to trying the less intense version in....oh let me see 2 DAYS!!!!!!!

I've been on both, and I do prefer the intense one, much more thrilling and realistic. But the less intense is just as cool. It's the same video, but instead of the spinning, the cabin just tilts. Like during take off, to get the feeling you are being pushed back in your seat from the G's, the cabin just tilts back a little. The ride consists of things like that, so it's still fun, but just not as thrilling as the regular ride.

Green is great. The original, now orange, made me feel weird, the green does not. And, it has virtually all the effects of the original, without the spin.

We took DD7 on the green version, both of us adults having had gone on the "real" version on a prior trip. It was a great version of it for DD, and it was realistic enough for us adults, too.

I was just wondering if the green version would be good for ds(7)....he would HATE the real version for sure!! I am not crazy about it myself....actually decided that the last time I went on it was the last. Now that the new version is out I will go on it! Ds LOVES Star Tours so I am assuming the green version is some what similar to a point?

Any more thoughts or advice??????????

Wanted to add....if ds does not like it could he close his eyes?? I know on the real one that is a BIG no no!! I am sure he will like it BUT just in case...........

I decided not to chance the intense version last August. I was afraid of getting sick an not feeling well the rest of the day. There were just too many horror stories about people getting bad motion sickness!

Now that they have the mild (green) version, I am really excited to try it on our next trip! I am fascinated by the ride concept, so I'm really excited that they have the option of the less intense ride.

Maybe if I like it enough I'll have to try the more intense version too!

I never rode the intense ride because I get motion sickness and the idea of spending my precious time with Mickey being sick wasn't going to happen. DD and I rode the new less intense version in July several times and loved it.

I rode the intense version once, that was enough for me, lol! I didn't feel well for the most of the rest of the day, just don't do well with spinning rides or virtual reality (but that's another post!).

I went on the less intense version twice and it was fine both times. This trip I felt like I could actually enjoy the ride and not worry about how I would feel afterwards. It is still pretty cool & DS (who likes the more intense version too) said the tamer one was "cool".

HTH!

How has things changed the wait for the original version? I loved the original version.

I love intense rides and Mission:Space, but the less intense was great. It's the same thing except you don't feel dizzy after. My group rode it right after the intense (the intense line is much longer) and had a lot of fun because you can fool around more since you don't have to keep your head back and look straight and follow all those safety precautions. I would highly recommend trying the less intense even if you love intense rides.

I just got back last week and I didn't get to try the "orange-original version" as my daughter suffers MAJOR motion sickness, but she tried The green side with me and my DS6. We really liked it, My son got
off and was ready to go "try the Orange side by himself"

Next visit I will try the orange side!

We tried the "tame" version of MS in June ...and loved it. My DS 6 thought it was "awesome."
