Mission Space Closed?

Hi all

Just spoke to some friends who where visiting WDW over easter and have said that as of the day the lady got killed on Mission Space, the ride closed.

They tell me that they heard (very vague I'm afraid) that Mission Space didn't re-open and were told that it wasn't going to re-open. Something to do with the type of ride (spinning, VR) is just not safe enough.

Can anyone (PLEASE) deny or confirm this rumour (hopefully deny).

Thanks

Good

I hope it is "tosh" as I thought it was a must do ride and will be heading straight for it again in a few weeks.

Thanks

We were at WDW the day the lady died. Mission Space was closed that day but reopened the next day, and stayed open until we left.

When we were at Epcot a few days after the event the wait time for Soarin was 120, Test Track 90......and Mission Space 10 minutes! So I imagine a few people were put off.

I did the ride over Easter - just before the German tourist died. They closed it as a precautionary measure after that whilst they tested it to ensure that it had not malfunctioned, and when they determined that it was operating normally they re-opened it on Good Friday. As far as I know it is still open.

Hi

I hope so. Problem with these rides they are immediately blamed if someone dies. To be honest nine times out of ten it was because of an unknown illness that set it off.

Its a good ride. We went last year and the wait time was always 10 minutes :confused3

Thanks guys.

I was asuming that the ride would have re-openned, but it is fantastic to have access to people like yourselves who I can bounce quick questions off.

I think maybe these will have to be the first three rides and FP that we run to before even considering anything else.

Thanks again

You people are priceless

:cheer2:

we were in Orlando over Easter....and we didn't even know that there had been a problem with Mission Space.

All of my family went on - except the 2 year old - and were very impressed by how clever the ride was. Even our 6 year old who didn't like some other rides (tho not many) so I was persuaded to give it a go. Motion sickness is my problem.... I went on the ride and also thought that it was very well done and I am glad that I did it once...but never again for me - I felt naseaus for a while after

We also did this ride over Easter. We wondered why there was a very short queue, and didn't find out until we got home on Monday.
I would not go on this again. It was well done but absolutely terrifying. There are sick bags provided which should have warned me not to do it, but by the time you see them you are already inside the capsule. The usual health warnings are clearly visisble as you enter, but they are on so many rides now that we dont take enough notice of them.
Dont do this if you suffer from even mild motion sickness or claustrophobia.

I rode it when it was first opened and followed all the tips which had been posted here. I enjoyed it and I'm glad I did it but it really wasn't my type of ride. My mum also rode it and she hated it due to the way it made her feel.

Ive been on the ride plenty of times and have never personally had a problem. To me the signs are perfectly clear they give you plenty of warning about what the ride is like. Unfortunately some of the people who have died have had undetected medical problems which would be aggrevated by such a ride.

Winding down with a beer at the moment. Tomorrow is Epcot FutureWorld day, should be good. Very much looking forward to our first time on Soarin'!

Charlotte ("home" for five more days :cloud9: )

They shouldn't allow internet access in WDW/Orlando so people can't gloat while they are there ;)

Only kidding - hope you are having a fantastic time :)
