I have a lot of trouble with the simulator rides -- I can't do Star Wars. Is there any hope for me on Mission Space?

I would also like to know how this ride is..When my DH went on it..it broke down 4 times while we were stuck in the space capsules..they never opened the doors the entire time..I'm not normally clausterphobic..but I was getting pretty freaked out..they let us out and gave us a fast pass to come back..I refused to go back and try it..I'm usually up for any ride but being stuck in those capsules when it kept breaking down in the dark was not fun and something I never want to experience again..

It has been noted that there is no way of knowing if a person will get sick on mission space. People have never get motion sickness get sick and people who are prone to get motion sickness end up doing all right on this ride. The best advice is: take a motion sickness pill a few hours before you get on. If these tend to make you drowsy take it the night before so that the drowsiness won't effect you. Get a fast pass so that you don't have to wait in a long line and listen to all the warnings (they will make you apprehensive). When you get on the ride pick up a barf bag to hold onto, just in case. When the ride starts, DO NOT LOOK AWAY FROM THE MONITOR, KEEP YOUR HEAD STRAIGHT AND YOUR EYES STRAIGHT, DO NOT CLOSE YOUR EYES. Some people have even suggested that you do the ride just before closing so that if you get sick, it won't ruin your entire day.

I have trouble riding Star Tours and Body Wars. Usually feel a little queesy and headachey afterward for 1/2 hour our so. Did Mission Space and it wasn't as bad. I think because you are enclosed and can't see yourself spinning, it tricks yoo into thinking you aren't. I honestly didn't feel like I was spinning in this. You do feel the sensation in your stomach, but it wasn't bad. Just do as they say and don't close your eyes and you should be fine. My DD 6 rode it, and she was OK too.

I have never gotten sick on Star Tours. It is one of my favorite rides in the parks. I do get a little sick on Body Wars. My DH has never gotten sick on any rides. However, both of us got extremely sick on this ride. You are closed in and cannot really move. I was SO READY for that ride to be over. Now, both of my DDs loved it!!! They can't wait to ride it again. However, DH and I will wait outside for them!!!

I had quite the opposite effect. I was very nauseous when I got off. I tried focusing only on the screen and not looking around, but that didn't help.

I can't do star tours either. I just HAD to do Mission Space once to see what it was like.

My mom loved it though.

Yes, you can possibly ride MS. MS and Star Tours/Body Wars are way different in my opinion.

Simulator rides are extremely jerky and it causes you to lose your focus. As you can imagine, focus is everything in simulators! To me, MS was a smooth ride, but far more intense. I was very worried I'd lose it on MS since I hate the other simulators, but I loooooved MS. As long as you focus straight ahead and concentrate on the "mission" (do NOT close your eyes), you'll be fine!

I loved MS and had no problems. However, my FIL was feeling so ill after riding MS, that he skipped our dinner at Rose and Crown that evening, went back to his room, and was still feeling sick the next morning. So I guess it can go either way with MS.

I rode MS last week. I can do simulator rides with no problem. When they said it was a spinning ride, I got a little nervous because they make me very nauseous but the kid behind me told me you couldn't feel it spinning. BIG MISTAKE to listen to him.

As soon as I got in the pod and they pulled the thing towards you, I started gettting a little claustrophobic. Even thinking about it now makes me a little freaked out. I am not normally like this either.

The liftoff wasn't bad, but it went downhill from there. I was so nauseous and woozy. I couldn't wait for the ride to end. I was so happy to get out of that pod and back on solid ground. I had that feeling for about three more hours. Out of our group of 5, only 2 chose to ride MS again.

Just wanted to give you my experience. It seems to me that everyone reacts differently to this ride. I didn't think I'd have a problem with it, but I did.

If I had known about those motion sickness pills, I certainly would have taken them before going on.

I've ridden MS 3 times. First time felt terrible afterwards but I think it was self induced. I was so worried about the ride making me sick that I made myself sick. Not sick sick but just a little off for about 3 hours. I rode it again a couple of days later and liked the ride and it didn't make me sick. I also rode it 1 time on my last trip. I think it's a good ride that I will ride maybe once per trip.

NOPE...no hope whatsoever :) . I am a roller coaster FREAK and I got sick on this ride. We also did Star Wars but I was OK. I should have known better really. I suggest Dramamine or Bonine. I wouldn't even trust the bracelets on this ride. The barf bags are directly in front of you. You can't miss them. My husband LOVES this ride but he can have it. He rode it twice more while I was laying in outside of the doors with ice over my face  . It's funny now but I felt like I was dying then. That ride is pretty intense. :sad2:

The only part I had trouble on was the launch itself. I'm not a person who gets motion sickness so I didn't think I'd have a problem, but the launch made me feel pretty nauseated. I just stared right below the monitor...not AT the monitor. I was fine once I did that. Once that part was over, everything else for me was a breeze.

I doubt I'd do it again though....I just wasn't that impressed with it.

Yep the lauch was the hardest part for me after that it was a really cool ride.
Yes there are bags right in front of you.

The first year I went on it I had no problem but this year when I went it definitely made me feel weird.....I felt a little sick. The only ride I've ever felt sick on before this was "Body Wars". I definitely think "Mission Space" is a bad idea with a hangover. With that being said, I think it is a fantastic ride and I would never miss it on any trip. Can't wait until October for it to make me feel sick again.

MS is not for me! I'll sit and wait for the rest of our group, but I'm not taking a chance of getting ill. NOT worth it.

I was the same way, IloveDMB!! I couldn't wait for the ride to be over! Honestly, I had read all of the posts on the boards about some people having heart attacks on this ride (some elderly people, I believe), and I sincerely thought I could have been the next victim! :sad2: The liftoff was the part that I thought I would die on! That pressure on my chest was terrible! I think I could have handled it for a few seconds, but it seemed to go on and on forever! I didn't think I would ever get that pressure off of me. The motion part was bad, too, but not as bad as the pressure to me. DH and I just didn't like anything about it. Yes, it is a really cool ride for the ones that can handle it. I can see why it is a hit because it must be so realistic! I just can't handle it again!

Thanks everyone -- I think I'll arm myself with dramamine, grab that attractive barf bag and give it a go!!

It hit DH and I very different. I was a little worried that I could get sick on this ride, DH thought he would be just fine. We both followed the instructions - keep you head back and don't look around. I enjoyed the ride, although there was a time when I was hoping it would be over soon. DH didn't enjoy it at all, however. He was green when we got off and refuses to go back.
