I just got back from a cast preview of Mission: Space, and I have to say that it was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had!

Feels real
Looks real
fun post-show activities.

Watch this: Steve Invades Mission:Space!

I even bought a hat!

It is still set to open to the public Aug 15.
Height requirement is 44".
Not for people with motion sickness, but not "instant vomit: just add people."... in fact... not even close.

Very cool. We will be there on Aug 29th and we cannot wait to ride this. Thanks for the review and the cool postcard link.

ROFLOL
Great Card

Lookinmg forward to riding in december!

Great card there Steve! :p I'm not sure Space is for me, but I'm sure my dds will love it!

Great card.

Is it a "spinner"?

Finally, finally. We have been waiting for this for so long.

I'm not talking about M:S, no, no. Now we all know what Safari Steve really looks like. So on our next trip, all we have to do is look around for a disembodied head perched inside a flying saucer somewhere around that new building in Epcot (you know the one, kinda funny looking with long arms, I think it might be a new gift shop or something...) and we will have found him!

That shouldn't be too hard to find, should it?

Will this ride have fast pass? Can you give us a spoiler as to what happens? It sounds so fun, but I am a bit timid on this one.

STEVE!!!!! NOW we all know the REAL story! You are an alien working at WDW and lurking at the DIS gathering information to take back to your leader!!!!!

Thanks for the post! I assume the post card is something we will all be able to do in the post show? Kind of like the stuff we can do in the post show for JIYI?

Thanks for the post! Will you be working next week at the MK? We will be looking for you!

Angie

Great postcard Steve:D Thanks so much for the review. We can't wait to try it in November. Could you possibly elaborate on the motion sickness? Someone else had asked if it spinned or is it the thrusting upwards? Any details would be appreciated. I just want to make sure my youngest won't have a problem. Thanks again.

Aw, gee....got my hopes up. We are here in Orlando now and I thought, maybe, just maybe a miracle has occured and we can do Mission Space this year. Bummer....well, there is always next year!

Thanks, Safari Steve!

1) It does spin... but it's not a "spinner"... if I did not know it was a centrifuge, I would not have known it was spinning. You don't feel it, and it's not a conscious part of the attraction.
2) Keep your head back and face forward... the pre-show information covers that important warning. If you know that you are susceptible to motion sickness, I would not ride. If you have never had motion sickness, you should have nothing to worry about.
3) It will have FastPass and a single riders line.
4) It is a VERY INTENSE, realistic simulation of being launched in a rocket into space and flying to Mars. There is nothing scary about the concept, and you are not consciously aware of the actual motion of the ride system.... Calling this ride "a spinning ride" is like calling Dinosaur "a rollercoaster" simply because it has a track.
5) the Chicken Exit is between the pre-show and the actual ride. You will be given plenty of opportunity.
6) There is no "stop button" or "kill-switch" in the cabin.
7) There are 3 different things for adults to do in the post-show area: Space Race, a 2 team video game (lots of fun), an individual game (also quite fun), and the video postcards.
There is also a playground for the younger ones who aren't tall enough to travel through space.

Thanks for giving us a sneak peak. I was looking forward to riding but also a little worried because I typically can't handle spinning rides. Now I know nothing is holding me back! :D

Since there are apparently brief sequences of weightlessness, combined with the nausea potential... are there any type of protective measures to prevent all four riders from being showered with recycled food in case one of them gets sick?

You mentioned that if a person has ever been motion sick before not to ride it. The ONLY ride that totally bothers me is Body Wars and that seems to be true for a lot of people. If Body Wars makes a person sick, do you think it's possible that Mission Space might? I know there's no way to really predict this but it never hurts to ask!

Thanks for the info! Cute postcard. :)

Not for people with motion sickness, but not "instant vomit: just add people."... in fact... not even close.

Define "Motion Sickness". I've done nearly every ride at WDW. RnRC, ToT, SpM. All of them scared me to varying degrees but none made me sick. However, the spin ride at the AK I did with my eyes closed and couldn't wait to get out of there. The Tea Cups? It ain't ever going to happen.

So is Space a spinner or just scary? If it gives you even a fraction of the weightless feel you get on ToT, I really want to ride it.

Realistically, what do you guys other in the US think my chances are of riding at any point between the 19th June and the 3rd July?

I've got a sneaky feeling I'm going to be too soon.........?
