Who: DS16
What: Dining with an Imagineer, Brown Derby lunch
When: Monday, June 28, 2004; 11:30 - 2:30 pm

Selected this tour with an eye toward encouraging DS16 to begin thinking about what direction he might want to take in college.

DH47 and ME49 accompanied him to the Bamboo Room at the Brown Derby (we ate in this area when it was just part of the BD regular dining room), adjacent to the Starring Rolls, but accessed through the main dining area of the BD. We took a couple of pictures, and then went to eat our own meal (with VKL meal vouchers) in the BD.

DS16 loved the experience.
His summary, "Great food, great conversation - what's not to like?"

He was pleasantly surprised that the other 7 guests (each lunch is limited to 8 guests and the imagineer) consisted of 3 other teenagers, a 30-something couple and a 40-something brother/sister. He thought it was great to be with other teenagers who like Disney as much as he does and were able to participate in intelligent conversation on the topic.

*** Lunch Table ***

He said lunch was great. He something of a fussy eater, but was very happy with the lunch. The chef came out and offered them additional (beyond the menu) samples of Cobb Salad and grapefruit cake. Each guest received a memento menu.

Each guest also received a souvenier dinner plate, with "50 years of Imagineering" logo and custom signed by the Imagineer (in this case, Alan Wright).

*** Memento Dinner Plate ***

This is an experience you could repeat often, since you are likely to get a different Imagineer each trip, and the food is always great.

Price: $75 with tax/tip already included when bill is presented. Stated price on web sites = $62, but that is the base price. No discounts. Book through Disney Dining, not the Disney Tours. You are NOT charged at the time of booking, like the tours, but are presented a bill at the end of the meal, so make sure whoever you send has the money or chargeable room key to cover it.

Summary:
Repeater? Definitely. Will send myself next time!
Recommend? Yes, to all

Great trip report ~ Thanx for sharing.
