Alright, you hung in there, and I am very appreciative of it. So, without waiting any longer, here's the surprise.
When 5 am came we really werent sleeping. The alarm went off and I hit the shower.
Waited for Tim to get ready and we wake up the kids. They are tired and dont really wanna get up. Not used to getting up at 5 am. So, the TV goes on and they are still in the bed. I make sure my mom is up and Mal is in the room with us. I have my cameras.
The video one and the digital one.
The night before the kids asked what their weekend was going to be like since we didnt get to celebrate Thanksgiving. What is with these kids?
What are they expecting, a trip to Disney World?
They always hated Thanksgiving. They would rather eat hog dogs than turkey any day of the week. I remember countless Thanksgiving when they ate chicken nuggets!
I think Zack is mad over getting ripped off on the desserts. But, I forgot to tell you my mom did bake a pumpkin pie and she did bring it to the hotel. We did have pie that night. And some did have it again for breakfast. But not me. I dont like pumpkin pie.
So, we told them that wed think long and hard and come up with something special for them to do.
Wow, they were making this so easy.
I cant figure the video thingy out to post here for you to see. Ok, I havent even tried. So youll have to just read what happened.
I give Tim the look, Im ready. He says:
Mommy, and I were talking last night and we came up with something very special for us to do. He opens up some papers, boarding passes, and hands them to each boy.
They know what those are. Their dad travels tons! Hes always printing them before he leaves.
Your gonna need these when you get on a plane in 2 hours.
Huh? They look at him puzzled.
In two hours you are getting on an airplane and you are going to Disney World for a whole week!!!!
In unison, they both toss the papers back to Tim and say, Ya right.
NOOOOOO! We shout. Its true. The whole family is going to Disney World.
I envisioned confetti being dropped from the ceiling. And balloons, and a bunch of people surrounding us clapping and cheering and waving and giving my family the thumbs up. Some announcer dude saying, "That's rights Matt and Zach your family is going to Disney World!", but I just couldn't pull that off.
I cant remember who, but one says,
Theres just one problem, we dont have any of our stuff.
What a smarty pants!
I yank them out of bed, drag them over to the other room and show them all the suit cases ready to go. Actually I lead them, but boy did I want too.
At first I believe that they were shocked.
Didnt see it coming. Totally fooled. Then it starts to sink in. They are catching on.
Trust me they are bright kids.
Now they start to believe. Arms get raised. Faces light up. Woo Hoos and Yee Haws are said. Im crying cause I cry at everything. Maybe thats why I dont want to show you the video. Im a big sap.
I cant believe you didnt tell us! They are sharing their excitement back and forth. Then I ask Mal where we are going. I tell her now its ok to say it.
She says, Were going to see my castle!
I was so emotional and I wasnt counting on it, there was no jumping. But there were tears and hugs and Ill take those kind any day.
Zach now is sitting at the couch and he looks at me and says, Mom my whole body is shaking. That my child is because you are excited. Hes feeling the magic!
Thats how I felt when I found the code that saved us $800 big ones!
I never saw 2 boys get dressed, eat breakfast, brush their teeth so fast in all of my life. Without me asking, ok shouting at them several times.
And then I wait for the phrase. I ask, what do you say to me? They smile, they know.
Thanks mom, youre the best mom. Youre the Queen of all Queens, and you smell pretty!
Dad got hugs too.
