Missing South Carolina governor wasn't hiking. He was having a booty call!!

That's what I'm saying. This goes miles past the usual, "I have sinned and broken my vows, yada, yada, yada" line of bs we typically hear. This chief executive disappeared from the face of the earth for a considerable stretch of time and was surprised that anyone noticed or cared. What kind of delusional whackjob actually thinks he can get away with that crap? As if no one was going to notice the governor was missing for week or so and no one knew where to find him? Yeah.....That happens every day. No big deal. :rolleyes1 What was he smoking down in Argentina? He doesn't seem to have to best hold on reality, IMHO.

Adultery may be the least of his issues. :scared:

I totally agree with every word. This is just so far beyond my imagination. :scared1:

Did anyone see the clip of Rush Limbaugh going on and on that "he could have been our JFK?

I agree with all these sentiments.
But when I saw him on TV I thought he looked like an older gentleman. Now I see he is the same age as my DH. In fact, DH is 1 month older than him. Maybe we are getting old...

I was shocked when I heard how old he is. He looks at least 60.

Well, at least McGreavy, Edwards and Spitzer resigned promptly after their "foibles" became known . . . so far Sanford and Ensign are still in the game. Oh, and Vitter is still in office and Craig didn't resign.

We are still laughing and in total disbelief onver this one at my house. Is there anyone from SX that can shed some light on if this guy was always insane or how he got elected in the first place. Surely there is no one thatcan defend him.

I will only be surprised when a group of reporters digs deeply into some politician's world and comes up with, "Honest Politician!!" as a headline.

Of course, "Honest Politician!!" will have to be on page two, as "Pigs Fly!" and "Hell Has Frozen Over!" will be on page one.

I think he may have admitted his "mistake" because a reporter at the airport caught him getting off the flight from Argentina. Typically, hikes in the Appalachians do not end up in Argentina. The trail is long, but not THAT long. :rotfl2:

I don't believe "crying" was all he was doing in Argentina...... :rolleyes1

Yeah, every one is repentant when they get caught. Gives a whole new meaning to taking a hike.

Getting busted on National TV has a way of aging one real quick.

Is it getting more news coverage by the national press than John Edward's, which resulted in a baby? You know, the senator, former presidential candidate, whose wife has breast cancer? ;)

Do you know something that the rest of us don't? There has never been any proof given that the baby is his -- i.e. no DNA tests were even taken or even requested. And as I recall, the national press was all over that story last summer (even though Edwards did not hold public office at the time unlike Sanford, Ensign, Vitter, Craig, Spitzer etc.)

I agree. A "what was he thinking" moment! I have to say however, I admire his wife and her statement. I admire that she didn't have a "stand by your man" moment and let him face the press alone. Good for her.

duplicate.

I totally agree. He doesn't deserve to have his wife by his side. Why should she stand there in the spotlight, she's not the sleeze ball.

I am from SC and I couldn't tell you how he got elected, but I know there is a few petitions going around saying "impeach Sanford". Not only for his latest affair, but he's got plenty of negative press for his stimulus money rejections.
He had been trying to reject a $700 million stimulus package from Obama, which would help create 50,000 jobs, keep our teachers from losing their jobs, and to build new schools. But instead, he only wanted to accept the money if it could all go toward state debt. We have the 2nd highest unemployment rate of the country (Michagan is 1st).

Sorry, but if he was really committed to working on his marriage it would have been a phone call to the woman in Argentina. "Sorry babe but the wife I said vows to, the wife that birthed my children, the wife that gave up her career to support mine means more to me than you. Buy bye!" But no, plan to spend 7 days down there. Yeah, he's really committed to that marriage.

That's because he is a decent, sensitive kind of guy! (or maybe he wanted to make exotic whoppie one last time!;))

TC:cool1:

Thanks for the reply. While I am not sure the number of projected jobs created is based in reality I am sorry to hear about your states unemployment. My state is high too and I have no explanation why our state legislature hasn't been recalled for their spending spree and our 24 billion dollar budget deficit. At this point I am sure our Govenor would take any money he could get and has had his hand out to DC to get money to help solve our shortfall which would help save jobs here. I am not sure if money going to your states debt would help save job like it would here???

Back on topic this guy has had a total meltdown of sanity. He could of simply said he was taking a break and going on vacation and let the lieutenant govenor act in his place and possibly not have created all this.

And the state newspaper had these emails and was sitting on them since Dec??? WTH is that about?? In my state our govenor is hated so much by both parties if the press could dig up some dirt on Arnold they would be giddy.I just don't get helping to protect politicians like this but it seems to happen alot with both parties.

I did hear he used public funds for 3 of his trips to Argentina. I hope they get him out of office soon.

Yeah, and his wife has known for 5 months that he's been having the affair.
He is ignoring questions about whether he will resign or not.

Yeah, and his wife has known for 5 months that he's been having the affair.

For the past 5 months his wife has probably been giving him chance after chance to prove himself worthy. He obviously has been failing and keeping choosing the other woman. No wonder she threw him out. Its very understandable.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. The man stepped up and admitted his mistake. We need to allow the family to work out their business without everyone adding their two cents

Well, I for one have never flown off to Argentina for an adulterous affair, so I do feel qualified to be casting stones.

Besides, this is NOT just a family problem. The guy left HIS JOB - hello - and was unaccounted and unreachable for a week. You know what would happen if I did that? I'd be fired - and so should he.

Buckalew, that was my thoughts exactly! He looks a heck of a lot older than 49!!!

Umm I agree, this goes past a simple affair or a family problem. If you saw any part of the news conference yesterday I don't see how you could be left with any other opinion then this man is unfit for office.I honestly don't think we have seen this level of mental illness since Nixon. (I think Nixon was sick with paranoia more then anything) I mean it was just so bizarre. He was in Argentina crying for 5 days. Those emails are downright creepy IMHO. I sure hope his soon to be ex wife gets full and sole custody. This has nothing to do with casting stones and private matters IMHO.

Personally I don't see why this is national news. A governor from another state having an affair isn't going to impact the state of the union much. I'll be glad when this circus dies down.
